Hey dad’s coming for a stroll with us. How nice. Nice day not too hot and it doesn’t stink of smoke.
Where are we going? To Gateway Seniors Facility….you mean we can get in and visit with the peeps now? NO! Cwap!! What are we doing then? You want some wild roses? I don’t get it. Oh, I see, we’re going to take some cuttings at Gateway.
Can we get in trouble BORROWING a few cuttings….not if no one sees us? I get it…no one back here mom, Not a soul on my right.
It’s also Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Artsy Caturday. Go visit her blog and have a jolly good laugh at your friends. MOL
Have a great weekend friends.
Mom and dad checked the hotel room a few times to make sure they didn’t leave anything behind. Then it was off to Heathrow Airport. Peeps had told mom it was a very hard airport to get through as it was huge. It was very large but staff at the airport helped mom, so going through security was much easier. They were even early for the plane so looked at various shops. Heathrow is very large with much walking.
The plane ride to Vancouver was very similar to the plane ride to Paris. So I won’t bore you with details. When mom saw the sands of the beach near UBC (University of British Columbia), she got very excited. We are sorry about the poor quality of the photo but the plane wasn’t all that close to the beach. MOL
Upon landing at Vancouver Airport, dad was grabbing the luggage off the carousel when mom came moseying along to remind dad what our luggage looked like. Talk about giving the, “evil eye!” Dad ‘s look could have stopped a Canada Goose in mid honk!
When mom and dad got into their motel room, mom called Barb co-author of, “Nellie, On The Edge.” Barb was not far away and came over to the motel room. They chatted and laughed and then figured it was time to go see a special lady and have supper. Off they went to Barb’s new townhouse. Mom loved the townhouse except for the many stairs but Barb said all this walking is paying off. She had become a few pounds lighter. When they got to the livingroom…..there was Nellie, just hangin’ out.
At this point Barb told mom and dad she made a pot roast with all the trimmings for dinner. They all charged into the kitchen. Although mom and dad were not very hungry as it was 3am in London. If mom is going to have beef, she wants pot roast….this is her favourite beef meal. What a scrumptious meal. Sorry no pictures. If we were home, mom would have asked for a kitty bag. MOL
Time to return to the motel. Nellie was getting ready for a snooze so mom and dad were quiet and let Nellie snuggle down. These are the last pictures of Nellie. It was her time to leave for the Rainbow Bridge. We were so fortunate to know this lovely Queen.
Mom and dad left for Prince George the next morning. I was delighted to see mom and wouldn’t leave her alone all night. I whacked her on the head when she fell asleep. I wanted loves. Kali wouldn’t look at mom but chattered away to dad. Three days later Kali decided mom was ok after all.
We hope you enjoyed mom and dad’s jaunt to the old country. They brought back a virus with them and were laid up for three weeks after arriving home but they’re fine now.
To read about mom and dad’s first meeting with Phenny and his family click on Easy’s Blog.
The next day these five didn’t waste time but got into Phenny’s Elephant Skate and for an elephant it was one compact elephant and they headed toward the Atlantic, It was a long ride of about three hours. Mom wasn’t used to sitting for so long anymore and kept getting sleepy. Phenny helped with that…he told her things about his mom and dad that had mom wide awake. He said his mom was renting herself out as a part-time carpenter and her dad was taking dancing lessons. Mom was fascinated. Is mom ever gullible! Geesh! MOL They all arrived safely in Normandy The little house we were renting was a beauty. There were even 3 bedrooms so we could um and awe about which room we could have.
While waiting mom sat on the Oceanic Kayaks. She got up, heard a snap and landed on her face like a sack of hammers. That was a boo boo and she was determined though the knee hurt, it would not slow her down…ya right! She never got down to Omaha Beach to find a used shell for a remembrance. It’s probably against the law anyway.
Katty and mom made their recipe for Shopping Around The World….Salmon fish cakes. Phenny was an enormous help. If you want to read the Salmon Fish Cake Recipe….just click on the name.
Phenny and Flat Shoko left their blessings for those that had fought for their freedom.
Mr. Phenny’s dad took mom and dad for a drive through Normandy for a look at the different architecture of the houses. Mom says this big house looks very official so perhaps its being used as a museum.
Too soon it was time to go back to Paris and catch the train. They left early and arrived in Paris around noonish. Mom was very overcome saying good bye to Katty and Phenny. Phenny’s dad helped carry suitcases into the station. Mom and dad thank you so much for the unforgettable visit with such fabulous peeps and of course, the one and only Da Phenny.
It was time to get on the Eurostar train and head for London from Gare du Nord. The Eurostar goes 200 MPH. It took about 2 hours to fly the rails to London. They spent a total of 20 minutes in the Chunnel. Mom and dads last view of Paris from the rails. Isn’t this the Metro mom?
1. The oldest item in my home is …..DAD……. Dad manages to be in pretty good condition for his age. He can even walk to town and back.
2. The oldest item in my refrigerator is …..a low cal salad dressing that no one likes. We won’t discuss the expiry date, MOL
I got the next two Skoks. Go for it Kali.
3. My family heritage is ….. Siamese. My biological mom was a Lynx Point and bio dad was a Flame Point like me. Most of my life I have had the same big butt as him too. Mom…a Lynx Point Siamese Dad…a Flame Point Siamese. I’m not as flame coloured as dad.
4. My favourite family tradition is ….mom reading at story time and giving us our kisses good night, every night. Makes me feel warm and loved.

Easy and flat me giving thanks for a happy visitLooks like Easy and flat me exchanged mews and woofs and are ticked with each other but not really. Easy was wondering if he should run or go tinkles…..big decision.
Still Kali and my favourite picture is Easy arriving at my 7th birthday party.
This picture will always be the fun and playful Easy to us. Our love for Easy will live on in our hearts.
You know whose coming for a visit Shoko? Who, Mrs. Claus is running away from home? It’s Sammy of One Spoiled Cat. He is flying around the world and will be stopping here for a visit. When? He’s here Shoko. Sammy!! You look refreshed. The cold air rushing by your ears must sound like an ocean but feeling it on your furry face would be awesome. Sammy welcome to our house, have some dried nip from the garden. Mom mixed it with silvervine. It’s a trip without a balloon, MOL Your operating the Hot Air Balloon so need all your faculties about you. OK….just let me get a sniff and we’ll look about Prince George.
Look….Even Cow Kitty came to see you off, You are an icon around here Sammy. We talk of you often and always yell, “SAMMY” before we eat any bacon we get. Bye Shoko and Sammy, have a great time. Quit yakking at Sammy and let them take off, Cow Kitty.
Up, up and away we go. There’s a moose for you. It’s a female that probably lives among the trees going up to UNBC. UNBC is the University of Northern British Columbia. maybe we’ll fly over it. This is the Fraser River, where mom would walk Kali when they lived in the other house. They walked along the beach beside the river. Mom saw 2 beavers swimming about a foot and a half from Kali. Kali was busy getting a drink and didn’t notice them. A typical Kali move. This park is Ft. George Park.
I know it’s really cold tonight Sammy. The weatherman said -30C. A wee bit nippy ole pal. This is UNBC, Sammy. Our pride and joy. Do you see the yellow trees. These are pines that were killed when the north was inundated with Pine Beetles a few years back. What a loss.
See down there and to your left is downtown Prince George. I was born on the streets of Prince George. I think that’s why loud peeps don’t turn my crank now. You can see in the background the pulp mills. Prince George was known for its pulp mills at one time. The mills had many workers and was the major industry here. The town stunk of sulphur which is used in the process. It was a horrible smell mom said but the townsfolk said it was the, *smell of money.* Isn’t this a beautiful mountain and just on the outskirts of town.
Oh look Sammy it’s the Northern Lights. When we get away from the downtown area we get to see them but only when the sky is clear. Sammy, you’re looking rather cold. Let’s go back home and you can get warmed up before you are off to the next town to visit. We love ya Sammy and Kali wants to kiss you for just being you. I’m not the mushy sort like Kali but you mean the world to me Sammy. I am delighted you came to visit our frozen neck of the woods.
