It’s Remembrance Day Shoko. A day to honour not only our vets but all vets, whether they be 4 legged and furry or 2 legged furless wonders. It doesn’t matter what side they fought for either, they are all veterans.
Mom and dad were at Omaha Beach with Phenny and his mom and dad from Easy Blog.
There are several beaches that saw Canadian and American Troops landing for battle along the Normandy coast. Imagine a teenager advancing from his boat to climb the hills in order to fight the enemy. Also, imagine another teenager, fighting for the other side, pointing weapons to kill the advancing troops. A death struggle, each fighting for their country and its ideals. WHAT A HORRIBLE WASTE! The Canadian Cemetery for those killed on Normandy’s Beaches during that fateful attack. Walking through the rows and rows of tombstones, the ages of the troops was astonishing. A few were in their 40’s but the majority were teenagers and young adults. There are no old men in this cemetery. The youth of the era willing to sacrifice everything for their country.
So on the 11th month, of the 11th day at the 11th hour, we will spend a minutes silence in respect for all Veterans service, not only Canada.
Kali, Kali I was taken in the little box to the vet’s this morning! *Shoko runs into the bedroom and wakes Kali.* Good grief Shoko, you scared me. Yawn!! You went to the vets? You? There’s never anything wrong with you, I wonder why mom took you there.
It was horrible Kali. They weighed me by putting me in this stupid looking basket with a paper towel in it. Like…like I was going to go tinkles on their precious machine. After that episode I rushed to get back in my box and managed to sit there till Dr. Kalyn came into the room. She said I weigh about the same as last year so I’m keeping my kittenish figure. Mom babbled away at her and then Dr. Kalyn stuck her fingers in my mouth. Cwap, she made my sore tooth hurt. I didn’t like it a bit but then she said to me, “My little sweetheart, I’m so sorry to have to do this to you.” Hey, Dr. Kalyn is very nice to us. I got the chance to get into my box so took it. Mom and Dr. K babbled back and forth for a bit and dad stood playing his game. I heard, “We’ll be back Monday.” and we were outta the little exam room. The visit was $36.80 but Dr. Kalyn didn’t charge mom for the visit. BONUS!
I was quiet all the way home and thundered outside as soon as the door was open. Cow Kitty was over for a visit so I sat down and told him all about it. His tail just kept getting bigger. I scared him.
Cow Kitty was so startled by the vet news, he dropped the moth he had in his mouth. Egads! I don’t want them to drill out a tooth or something equally as bad. Look Shoko, is your tooth sore? Yes. Does it hurt more when you chew down on that tooth? Yes. Is it the worst pain you’ve ever felt when you bite into your favourite treats, Island Paradise. Oh, you know it is, Kali. My eye water’s and the pain makes me drop my treat and run…thundering down the hall. It only makes sense then to see the dentist at the vet’s. You don’t want to lose most of your teeth like me. You don’t have to mouth your wet food, it’s just that your tooth is very sore so this is your way of compensating. I know you’re right Kali but I still don’t like the idea. C’mon Shoks we’ll go grab a nap together. OK. but no mushy stuff. I just want to feel your with me sis. OK, my lil sis. Aww…I feel more relaxed now.
Have a great Wednesday my friends.
Take a zip over to Lexi the Schnauzer and read about her latest campaign strategy meeting. I read this post after the vet visit and it cheered me right up.
What a cwappy day. It’s pouring…..apparently the end of some hurricane decided to come all this way inland and grace us with its rain. The wind is ahowlin’ and the leaves are blowing everywhere. I’m not impressed! Furthermore it looks like my friends Penelope and her bro Pippin’ have had a horrible accident in the basement and may not be up to playing with us this year. I won’t go into detail but its not a pretty sight apparently. Mom won’t tell me anymore than that. Remember these cheery faces. My friends Penelope and Pippin’.
Kali had to go to the vet’s today too. She didn’t want to go and told mom why but mom had her ears turned off. Before I knew it they were back again. I guess I must’ve fallen asleep. Kali was very happy to get out of the carrier and disappeared before I completely woke up. Kali has arthritis with some wasting around her hips. The pain giver recommended fish oil and if there is no difference a capsule for arthritis will be appropriate. Mom said it was remarkable but Kali who usually sheds all fur hanging about, so it looks like a fog has descended upon the room, didn’t shed 1 hair. One great thing that happened today was mom got her Cat Lady box and we both helped her look inside. We exhausted ourselves with the box and are ready for a snooze.
Kali is delighted its Artsy, Fartsy Caturday on Athena and Marie’s blog tomorrow and she gets to pose. Simply click on the name of the hosting blog and enjoy the anipals in their artsy forms.
Have a great weekend my friends and if you get a chance drop into Cat Scouts on Saturday as I will be celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving. I will probably celebrate off and on for the whole long weekend.
