Oh my, look at the weeds and not a shred of nip in sight. Hey Tyebe what is that statue in the corner? That’s Angel Kali’s resting place. I never met her but she was a cat in a million Shoko says. Her area is a mess. I know but dad will clean it up over the summer. Do you see the oregano right in front of the statue of Francis of Assis? That’s oregano. Kali loved oregano but not nip. She was different all right.
Shoko says with Kali in the garden we need not fear anything. Kali will watch over us.
We are joining in on the fun fartsy……I mean artsy Caturday with Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty.
Here is the wonderful and beautiful picture of moi staring out the sliding glass door at the snow pelleting against the glass in the wind.
Now here is the artsified picture.
Eww….it has a couple of claw marks on the cat pole. I didn’t do that! Anyway, mom used the photo editor, “Be Funky.” Also the art effect of Summer. It doesn’t feel any warmer though.
Samantha of Samanthamurdochblog nominated us for the “The Shuffle The Music Tag” and we thank you, Samantha, for thinking of us. Granted she nominated us in August and us lazy ones are just getting around to posting now. Glad Samantha never held her breath waiting for our response.
We are sharing with you our playlist……actually its Kali’s playlist on the computer. I turn the music on when Kali gets uptight with whatever pains she’s currently enduring. Kali is very fond of all of these songs as she becomes mellow and relaxes. Seeing these are her songs, she can guide us through them. Take it away, Kali.
For “The Shuffle The Music Tag” just put whatever device you use to listen to your music on, and press the shuffle button, and write a little something about the first fifteen songs that come up, what they mean to you, their history, whatever takes your fancy. We will be doing 10 songs. Then nominate seven or more people to participate, obviously letting them know.
I use the computer and *I Tunes* so mom shuffled my music.
1/ The first song up isI Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City by Harry Nilsson. This song has relaxing lyrics and the tempo is perfect for drying nail polish on my toes. Granted occasionally I swing my paws over the side of my Princess Bed as the tune is so catchy. All in all a soothing song. Sorry, the sun is blocking my paw but my nails are drying faster. mol
This song is so relaxing that if I get upset, this song has me clapping my paws and mellowing with sleepy eyelids. Mom was saying that these chaps played at many of the spots in England that the Beatles did. Well, I’ll be a bug!
Mew, mew….this song is great when I’m feeling down cause my paws are hurting so I feel very unimportant. The upbeat sounds of this song make it so I can’t be down for long….I want to get up and investigate a drawer and try to find some nip.
This song reminds me of all my woofie friends and their favourite pass time. It would be neat to bury one’s treats and come back later to retrieve them. Unfortunately, I have this thing about dirt. I will not eat anything with dirt all over it. It’s a very icky habit. Shoko eats things she buries but not moi.
This is my very favourite song! I could just float away on the words. I can just picture Moon River as blue as can be without an insect or reptile in it. Just cruising along the river in a paddlewheeler with Buddy holding my paw. *Aha, sigh* I know it’s supposed to be the Mississippi River and that’s so muddy that your shadow will have dirt on it…..forget all that just go with the sweet music and the illusion you get.
There you have it, friends. My playlist and a hot one it is too. I have more songs on it but this will give you an idea of my favourites.
We’re supposed to nominate 7 peeps/kitties forThe Music Tag. I am reluctant because I would like to hear everybody’s idea of good music. Phenny ofEasy Blog...oh Phenny, tell me your playlist, Bacon fromPiglove….bring it on bud. May I say that anyone else that wishes to do the playlist, please let us know so we can admire your songs.
Kali, it’s so quiet without Shoko thundering down the hall to grab a straw before you do.
Personally, I like it, mom. A relaxing and quiet time without Shoks blabbing at the crows like some demented squirrel.
Look, Kali, we got a letter. It looks like it’s from Shoko.
Hi Mom, Kali, and Dad,
It’s me….Shoko! I am having so much fun at summer camp.
The first day we got settled in an awesome tent. Maggie is sharing the
tent with me. She’s so much fun. We ate popcorn and chattered into the night…we laughed till I wet myself.
The following day we went fishing and caught a Kokanee salmon. Pete H. cooked it up on the BBQ with lemon and dill…just like you do mom. It was delish!
We all went on a hike up this Half Dome Mountain. It was huge and steep….way too steep for Kali, she’d fall down. It was all I could do to hang onto the ropes and poles. MOL.
I wore my new outfit…it fits perfectly mom.
Did you notice the size of my head? Big, eh? Scout Andy said it was the altitude that gave me a big head. What’s a girl to do?
We finally made it to the top of Half Dome Mountain….what a view!
We got down the mountain a lot faster than going up. We were all back in camp and starving. Maggie and I headed over to the lodge for a fine meal.
In the evening we sat around the campfire and Obi said, I have a question, Denmaster. I was reading the Cat Scout Handbook whilst having my snack and on page fourteen it says that I should pack a poncho and rubbers. What if I\’m nootered?
Everybody started laughing even Denmaster. I don’t get it mom? What was so funny, eh? You can tell me when I get home.
I’ll write again if I get the time mom.
Love to everyone,

Welcome my friends….Have a seat and a Nipitini. Today is Selfie Sunday with our host The Cat On My Head. This is a blog hop, so that means we hop from blog to blog and see our friends attempting their own selfies. Simply click on the blog name and admire your friends. I was thinking of summer today. You know, I really miss playing out in the yard and grabbing a drink out of my wadding pool. *sigh*
I miss laying out on my air mattress grabbing some rays. The sun beating down on my back. Aww….I can feel the warmth soaking into my bones.
Here I am testing the water for a drink. I was standing in front of mom’s green onions. This is my selfie memory of summer.
It’s my turn for a parting saying Shoko. Go for it sisteh.
May flowers always line your path And sunshine light your day
Have a fun filled Sunday all you treat craving anipals.
Shoko, come on over here. Leave the digging for now.
Coming Kali…this must be important, Kali never calls me to come and sit with her. Ok I’m here, what’s the big deal.
Nellie from Nellie on the Edge and her mom, Barb, painted a picture of me and I got it today. It was even addressed to me. Aren’t I beautiful?
Nellie’s mom has captured the shape and sea blue of my eyes perfectly. You’re right it looks just like you, Kali. I must admit Nellie’s mom did an excellent job of capturing a Kali ghosty. I could sit and look at me for hours. Geesh Kali! Do you know how vain that sounds? I’m not vain but I also never lie and I look gorgeous. Did it ever occur to you that I could easily be described as a voluptuous, platinum blond with flame coloured highlights.! Humpf. Holy Catastrophe Kali. If it makes you feel better, you’re the best looking ghosty I’ve ever seen. Now, I’m getting back to the garden.
Come with me my friends. Let’s spend some quality time with my picture.Mom is going to frame my picture so everyone can enjoy me. Thank you so much Barb… we love my painting.
Have a fun day and enjoy the warm summer days as they won’t last.
It’s time for Shopping Around the World again. Our wonderful hosts are Fozziemum and Piglove.
Today I will show you an easy meal for the warm summer months. You will need:
A small tough cut of pork roast ($12.56)
2 tbsp. marmalade ($3.49)
1 cup Bold Hickory BBQ sauce ($3.40)
1/2 cup orange juice (Minute Maid…$0.20)
salt and pepper to taste… look in your cupboard
Put half a cup of orange juice in a crock pot. Mix in 2 tbsp of marmalade. To this mixture add 1 cup of Bold Hickory BBQ sauce. Stir that pot like a seasoned witch….cackling helps. Cut 1 onion in half and then slice the onion and throw into the mixture. Add pork roast to the crock pot and turn the crock pot to low. Cook for about 8 hours or until the roast is fall apart tender with a fork. Shred the pork roast with your fork until there is nothing but small shreds of pork drowned in the orange juice mixture. Then apply the shredded pork to a bun. Delicious!
What did you say Kali? We were suppose to give the ingredients for a salad? Cwap!! S’cuse me, I feel foolish….this is a big oops. MOM!! What happened here? Did you read the instructions when you first got outta bed? Geez!
What can I say other than here is my salad for this month’s recipe. Um…use your imagination my friends.
The Cat on My Head is hosting the Sunday Selfie once again. I wanted to pose as if I don’t care if the paparazzi steal my image. Did I accomplish my goal?Mom’s brother-in-law and his girlfriend are up visiting from Vancouver Island so mom will be spending her time with them. Like mom says if peeps don’t come up and visit in the summer…..then nobody visits.
I’ll bet you wondered what happened to us. We haven’t posted for awhile. Mom has been busy with harvesting the veggies. Well, all this warm weather has had a great effect on the veggie garden. The peas, chard and beet greens are being frozen for the winter. Beets have been frozen and 2 bags of peas. This took quite the amount of time. We had to pick the peas, shell them and divide the older peas from the tender ones. Granted mom and dad did most of this but I walked through the garden with her. Just so she didn’t mess up the veggies.
a small pot of tender Ruby Chard
What have we been doing while mom and dad are steaming their faces off with the veggies? It has turned cool here so our pool has disappeared. No more fun with the pool. Dad cut our catnip wwwway back and hung the stalks from the ceiling of the deck. Mom will pack the leaves and buds away for our relatives at Christmas. This is still what mom and dad are doing but Kali and I helped with these chores. I sat in the middle of the catnip and yelled in perfect Niponese,”NO!! Not our nip!” Dad didn’t listen but said my voice was very forceful.
No! Down came the nip. Mom said there is another full month of summer, at least, and I’ll be chewin’ on nip again this summer. Nice tender nip too. I like the sound of that mom. Remember that Flat Einstein and Timmy are coming for a visit from Pennsylvania in August.
Kali has not been up to much. She keeps using her stairs in the bedroom. Looking all smug and happy. Today I showed her what I could do with the stairs.
I just wanted Kali to see that I was no longer afraid of the stairs. My point made, I left to help outside.
Kali went into the living room and covered herself while laying on the love seat.
I was not in as much demand as I thought so I headed out to the greenhouse. Kali and I spent the rest of the afternoon resting up.
Today was a mellow day. We all spent most of the day enjoying the new growth of Spring.
We got a little sapling lilac tree last year from our bald headed neighbour. We now see the new growth starting.
The Alpine Willy Clematis is very early every year and is about to bloom.
Alpine Willy Clematis
Mom has been weeding the lily bed and we have been watching by the catnip. Mom’s way to handle the catnip is to block off two of them…letting them grow. One is opened for our use…and usually has fur all over it. When this one gets down, mom picks the fur off and wraps chicken wire around it but opens one of the good ones. This way there is catnip all summer long.
The next 2 weeks are planting weeks. All the soil and added nutrients need to be rototilled in my veggie garden and the potato patch. This is dad’s job. Planting the potatoes and veggies are mom and my job. The perennials need more bone meal this year too. Lots to do yet.
Doesn’t my veggie patch look nekked. Remember this picture in July. I can work wonders with my green paw.
