A Letter from Cat Scout Camp

Dear Mom, Dad, Tyebe and Budd,

We arrived at Camp Sammy Kimmell in a Woodie.  It’s a really old car but the fenders never fell off and we arrived safely.  I’m having so much fun at the Jamboree.  It’s not all fun, sometimes it’s just hard work like putting up our tent when we arrived on Sunday.  We have a girls tent and a boy tent.  Us girls put up our own tent for the patrol Rumbling Thunder.  I’m including a few pictures that were taken.

On Monday we had a Scavenger Hunt. It was real hard. I only found 2 items and there were 10 to find. Oliver Hughes, a member of Rumbling Thunder found them all! He’s a very good Cat Scout and a super member of our patrol.  Sorry no pictures.

Yesterday we all hiked down to the tidepool for an excursion.  The waders fit about right.  They aren’t very comfy though.

The sea life I saw was enough to make me shake with happiness all over. I was very good and didn’t eat any of the sea life. I did see These little tiny crabs called Fiddler Crabs.

I thought I’d try to catch some just before we come home and you can make crab soup. Although these wee guys seem to be all claws.

Oh, I must tell you that I’m the new bugle girl for Rumbling Thunder. I play Taps every night. You know I have a real talent for it except one night I played Taps too late and most scouts were asleep already.  They weren’t happy but I meant well.

That’s about it for now mom. Hope you, dad and the hairy monsters are doing great. Wish you were here mom without Tyebe and Budd but I’ll see you on Saturday evening after the closing ceremony.

Loves Shoko

Shoko is having gobs of fun, mom. me’s want to go too! You’re too young Tyebe. You have to be at least 1 year old. Even out in the Lane, the street cats have heard of Cat Scouts. These scouts are wonderful and deserve all our praise. I never realized Shoko was such a great and honourable lady. Well, I’s still going to try and beat the snot outta her when she comes home….cat scout or not.

SHOKO…..BLACK
TYEBE…..ROYAL BLUE

Artsy Fartsy Caturday with Kali

MOL, it’s my turn for artsy Caturday and I told mom exactly what I wanted.  She of course obliged my every whim.  Sure she did furry face, *rolls eyes*.  More than likely she agreed to shut you up.  Well, maybe Shoko but you could be nicer about the whole thing.

SHOKO—–BLACK
KALI—–ORANGE

Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty is having the Caturday artsy lineup.  Click on the name and go see your buddies enduring the effects of their mom’s creativeness.

Here is the picture we started with.                                                                    Notice the bubbles lightening my load.

This is what we ended up with thanks to Lunapic.                                                                    Egads, the artsy me looks like a monster!  I think the first one is better mom.

What’s that saying Shoko?  You mean:

“SOMETIMES YOU’RE THE WATER….SOMETIMES YOU’RE THE TUB”

Tomorrow is the Kentucky Derby at Cat Scouts.  Kali and I are going with our boyfriends.

I think Classic Empire will win and Kali thinks McCracken will win.  I wonder if our choices will  win.

Interesting eh?  If you want to see more, join Cat Scouts…it’s FREE.

Happy Cinco De Mayo Day

Kali and I are headed off to Cat Scouts for the Mexican fiesta.  We are meeting Einstein and Buddy there.

These are some pictures of us last year at the Cat Scouts Party.                                                                                                             Einey and I stealing away for a few moments of alone time.                                                                     Kali marches her stuff in front of the public.

Have a great Mexican day and remember some tacos for a snack.

Preparing For Valentine’s Day

Hey Kali, what are you gettin’ Buddy for Valentine’s Day?  Gee, Shoks I was planning on making him a gift.  I thought a poem about us and a pretty card would be great.  I don’t know Kali, your creative ventures look like, well, like you made it .  You nap too much. Don’t be rude Shoks, I do my best and Buddy will love knowing I tried  my best and gave him such a unique gift.  No one else will have the gift I’ll give him.  I remember when I met him for the first time at your 7th Gotcha Party Shoks.  I was  so excited and when he spoke to me, I felt like a school girl.

Kali and Buddy done

I could tell Buddy felt the same way about me. He was so strong and handsome laying there with such handsome blue furs.  Shoko how did you and Einstein meet?  Well, Einey and I had known each other for a long time in Cat Scouts and we always had fun together.  Timmy and Einstein were regulars at the pawties in Cat Scouts and our relationship just blossomed from there.  So we were friends first and then we found we were even more attracted to each other.

0 Sadie Hawkins Memory Einstein ShokoWe make such a cute couple.  What a guy I have.  So what are you going to give him Shoko?  Something from the heart or a more elaborate store bought gift.  I wanted to give him a mouse…I found a nest under some snow when the snow started to melt.  How would I get it to him?   He lives in Pennysill-vainia.  Mom says that is very far from here.  I believe mom too.  We have a town named Penny up here but the town and the peeps/cats are not vain.  I never thought of that Shoks but do you think everybody in Pennysill-vainia is vain.  No way is Einey or Buddy vain so I doubt anybody else in the family is…although Miss Fitz might be a tad vain but then she is very pretty so maybe she has reason.  Let’s face it she has so many brothers she deserves a perk now and again.  I’ll have to keep thinking about a gift Kali.  What are your preparations for Valentine’s Day my friends?  Is there someone special in your life?  A cat that has all the right moves.

Kali and Shoks

Blogger Recognition Award From Lexi: the schnauzer

Oh my, lexi the schnauzer recommended us for this lovely award.  We thank you Lexi for the honour and thinking of us.

Now, I am suppose to recommend 15 blogs to receive this award.  Many blogs that I follow have been here for years and probably either already have this award or don’t do awards.  Oh what the nip!  I will name 5 blogs and if they choose not to participate, so be it.

Stunning Keisha…..a wise cracking kitty who believes she should have the last word in the household.

Piglove…..in the Thompson household there are 2 cats a wee dog and a pot bellied pig named Bacon.  Houdini( wee dog) looks after the posts on Friday and Bacon guides his bro.  The 2 cats are laughing at them but Bacon and Houdini just think the cats are very happy.  A household with a pot bellied pig is hard to ignore.

The Kitten Diaries…Bella and Esme are two kittens trying their best to help girl- woman and boy-man with household chores.  At least their version of how the chore should be accomplished and along the way having a few adventures.

Timmy’s Commentary…..this is where my guy Einstein lives…he has a wonderful floofy tail, Timmy, Miss Fitz, Buttons, Kali’s love, Buddy also lives here.  Toby and a big white cat…beautiful fur..the mind clicks…Rumpy!  The going ons in this house are hilarious as the boys try to outdo each other while miss Fitz is giggling under her breath..

Da tabbies o trout towne ….trout towne has a population of 11.  Each inhabitant has his or her own idea on how things should be done.  There are 2 things they agree on.  Fish is the best possible meal and no birdz are allowed.

The other part of the award acceptance said to tell everyone how we got started and give a bit of advice to those starting out.

Well, this is going to sound very dramatic but mom had heart failure in the winter of 2013 and ended up getting a pace maker.  When the surgeon put in the pace maker he nicked the heart and the heart started bleeding.  Mom found she couldn’t walk far without being winded.  Very quickly the doctors discovered the bleeding and mom was medi-vacced down to Vancouver to a heart intensive care unit at St. Pauls Hospital.  Here she was poked and prodded and finally they drained the blood from around her heart.  Mom said it was the worst possible pain she ever felt.  She was in the hospital in Vancouver for about a week.  She and dad managed to make it home on a normal jet.  Mom was so proud but exhausted.  She wasn’t allowed to do much and  was slowly going bonkers so one day she looked at the computer and found Mousebreath magazine, then Cat Scouts and finally decided on a blog for me and my sis.

Mom has two pieces of advice…stay with the blog, so what if you have 1 visitor….do the blogging for you and a record of your pet.  Then as Lexi says, lots of pictures.  We all love to see our friends in funny positions or just mellowing out.

To those I’ve named, simply follow the same things as I have done and link back to The Edge of Night.

The very last thing to do is let the blogs that have been nominated know.

Road Trip To Huble Homestead

Some  flat scouts from Cat Scouts came to visit us and dudes  we had a houseful.  They were the perfect guests.  Not one of them threw kitty litter around the bathroom.  No one hacked up a furball either.  Mom was impressed.  We had Fing Feiko/King Meiko’s alter ego from Texas, Tristy from California from the blog Christie Paws, Izzy from Oklahoma from the blog Dezi World.  Our last visitor is Fete/Pete’s alter ego from Tennessee.

I made sure that all the flats went to the kitty litter and had some noms and water before getting in the car for their road trip.  Mom and dad rounded up the flats and placed them in the back seat together.  Not one of the flats sang out in protest but they were meowing to each other in excited voices.  Kali and I waved to the flats as they left.

The Huble Homestead is only 40 km ( 25  miles) north of Prince George but you are in total wilderness as soon as you pass the city limits.

I am Foko.  I am Shoko’s flat scout.  I will be the guide for our visit.  We all sat back and enjoyed the fresh air and before we knew it, we were at the Huble Homestead.                                                                  This Homestead consisted of a general store, blacksmith shop, stable,a couple of log houses and the old homestead itself.  Huble Homestead was built along the Fraser River for easy transportation by paddle wheel.  Travel by land was far too difficult as there were only trails to follow with pack horses and all the supplies needed for a long journey from the  Vancouver area.

DSCN3912Some wise words from our host and we were on our way.

We all had to show off the old fashioned loom and have a rest.  Your wondering where Fete alias Pete went as he’s not in the photo?  Fete was overly interested in the chick-hens.  He muttered something about his sister and chick-hens.

There’s Fete!  The chick-hen didn’t seem particularly interested in him but Fete was happy.

We didn’t get very far and Fete fell in a hole.  We all had to gather around and see if he was ok.  He was fine just gawking around too much.  We all had a good meow and then ran on to catch up with mom and dad.

Here is Fing Feiko (left), Foko, Tristy, Izzy and Pete in the squirrel hole.

This is an old fashioned press that was used for flattening beaver pelts for easy storage.

DSCN3928We took a look through a very old stable.  Tristy was mesmerized with the old, old horse shoes.

We all had a short nap in the hay and were very refreshed afterward.

Mom and dad watched as a man made ice cream.  Looked delicious or so mom said.  Dad said it was too runny and likes the ice cream in the grocery store better.

This is the lady clerk from the General Store in proper attire for the time.  She was nice and let mom take pictures of Tristy and Izzy with Polar Cleats.

DSCN3953                    DSCN3952Mom had a pair of Polar cleats as did dad but they were pretty hard to fit over one’s boots or runners and then you must take them off each time you come in or you’ll have cleat holes in your floor.  Guess how mom found out!

The next stop on our outing was a small cabin that was actually the Blacksmith’s cabin.

Now this is really working from home.

This is the actual Huble House.  These folks must have been well off because even the house is whitewashed and they had a kitchen not just a wood stove.  The kitchen is separate from the house and there is a doorway that leads right to the table.

Notice the door to the kitchen behind the table.

We sat on the cold wood stove in the office of the homestead for our picture.

Talk about narrow staircases…whew…you can’t afford to be fat in the old days.

The last place we saw on our way out of the homestead area was the place where the meat was kept to keep it away from wild animals such as bears.

A pleasant way to spend the afternoon.  We all jumped in the car and headed for Prince George.  Before long we were at the outskirts.                                                                      There you are a little slice of history from northern British Columbia.

Flat Shoko Has Left Canada

Kali, did I tell everyone about Flat Shoko that Dad made up for Cat Scouts?  I don’t think so Shoko.    Well butter my butt and slide me to the Catnip!  Sit down my friends have some nip and I’ll tell ya all about it.

Cat Scouts are giving scouts the opportunity to go visit their friends in Cat Scouts via a flat cat.  Well dad made a flat cat of me.  She’s a big sucker too!  I call her FOKO.                                                                                                         Foko

We mailed Foko  at the beginning of August out to DezizWorld in Oklahoma.  Dezi did a post about her visitors.  Click on DeziWorld for the First part and Part 2 for the second half of the visit.  Shoko’s flat cat boyfriend Finstein scame for a visit with brofur Fimmy.  Dezi’s mom made sure there was no look of hanky panky between Foko and Finstein.  Finstein slept at the head of the bed and Foko at the bottom.  We had tons of fun.  Mango from Cat Scouts also popped in for a visit.

Dezi telling Foko a secret...she's not very quiet and that accent...blew me away. What a fun gal.Dezi is going to tell Foko a secret. Foko says Dezi is not real quiet but has such a fantastic southern accent that Foko was mesmerized.  Lexi, Dezi’s sis, sat back and let Dezi enjoy her friends.  What a kind sister.

Dezi’s mom mailed us out to Finstein and Fimmy’s dad and we arrived last Wednesday.  What a houseful in Finstein’s family!  I never saw so many cats all in one place.  I especially liked chatting with Miss Fitz.  We had lots of girlie talk and giggles.  Go take a look at Tomcat Commentary by Tim…just click on the name.

Miss Fitz was so happy to have another female to talk with that she spilled the beans about most of the family’s secrets.  MOL  Way to go Miss Fitz.

Secrets with Miss Fitz

Secrets with Miss Fitz

Finstein’s family lives in Pennsylvania.  Fimmy and Finstein’s dad mailed Foko, Finstein and Fimmy up to  Canada.  So they should be arriving in another 4 or 5 days.  We are expecting a couple of others from Cat Scouts too.  Woohoo…lotsa visitors.  Kali will be delighted.  Too bad Miss Fitz isn’t a flat.  Kali would love her, I just know those two would get along like a house on fire.  MOL, Miss Fitz, what a name!  I like her already.
