Sunday Selfie with Kali

catonheadbdIt’s time for The Cat on my Head’s Sunday Selfie.  Come join us at posing or just come at peek at us on The Cat On My Head.

Shoko and I mewed it over and she said I could pose for this Sunday’s selfie.  She seems to be awfully giving for Shoko.  Hope she feels ok.

I took this selfie while helping mom decorate the tree.  I didn’t like how the ornament was hanging and was trying to get her to understand.                                                                 akalisayssmNo mom over to the right.  Not on the same branch as  the reindeer, further over.  Oh to have thumbs!  There…too far…you got it…leave it…..step away from the tree mom.

We have had unusually freezing weather for two weeks now and problems are starting to happen.  The Nechako River has started to freeze  in parts and form a barrier causing the river to flow its banks.  Fortunately, the river is only flowing through a favourite hiking park, Cottonwood Park.  As of today peeps houses are safe but emergency measures have been implemented.                                                                    prince-george-trail-closed This park is where mom discovered the joys of white cranberries.  She picked a bucket of them, (they are teeny), brought them home and made cranberry sauce.  She insisted that dad and her eat the cranberry sauce in spite of it needing a load of sweetness.  None was added…just a touch.  Dad kept declining any chicken if it came with the premature cranberries.  I think dad had a party when they were finally gone. MOL

Have a great day and try Flamin’ Tiger nail polish….. it brings out the wild cat in you.                                                                                   sistersinarmswinter

Artsy, Fartsy Caturday with Shoko

Canada Day was yesterday and what a day it was!  It was a cold and snowy day.  It was not Shoko!  It was a warm and sticky day! I don’t think so my dear white pile of fur .  Shoko its July, we don’t get snow in July.  There is no way my furs were sticky under my arm pits.  I have never sweated.  Of course not. mom says women glow and men sweat.  Have you ever seen Buddy sweat?  I’ve never seen Einstein’s lovely floofy tail drenched in sweat.                                                              buddy budHe’s gorgeous and no sweat….

Einstein Tail SNo sweat on Einstein either.  He is one fine hunka fur.

As I was saying yesterday was Canada Day so mom and dad went to the park to see the Canada Day celebrations.  They were gone for several hours and it was dark when they came home.  I was trying to be brave as we were down to the last kibble.  No it wasn’t dark Shoko.  They were gone for maybe an hour or two and we had lots of food.

On with my tail of Canada Day.                                                                  acancitA devoted Canadian Citizen!  I wonder if he got his citizenship papers today along with several others?  Perhaps he’s just odd…That’s rude Shoko, be nice!

The Medieval group in town put on a fight scene for observers.                                                           afighters                        asurrender

Talk about sweating….bet those dudes and dudettes were hot.

Just a glimpse of our Canada Day celebrations.

Now, it’s time for Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s  Artsy Caturday blog hop. Take a hop over there and view all the other anipals that had to put up with their mom’s messing with their picture.                                                                         Cat art

Here I am sound asleep in our stroller.  Mom used this picture to start messing with for Caturday Artsy Day.

Mom used Pizap to fiddle with my beautiful relaxing picture.                                                                     asharpenMom sharpened my image and that’s all the fixin  she did. It is different.

Have a great Caturday and may your snow storms in July be few.                                                        afire3Happy 149th birthday Canada!                                                                    Kali and Shoks

Kali Hits The Road

I’ve had quite the day my buds.  First thing this morning after breakfast, mom and dad brought me to my carrier.  Oh Lordy, no….I feel spectacular….I don’t want to go to the vets.  Well, my pleas landed on deaf ears and off we went to the *shudder* vets.  The vet was that Dr. Bowman again…Dr. Kalyn is so much friendlier.  Dr. Bowman is just a young whipper snapper…I trust someone a little older with some experience under their pelt.                                               dr. BowmanDr. Bowman gave me the usual exam…tree trunk up my butt, mining light to see inside my ears and I got thrown placed on a scale..  I gained almost a whole pound.  Mom was so happy.  My food allergy has been kicking up so I have scratched a patch of fur from my neck but there are no marks there.  As mom was paying for this insult, dad whisked me to the car.  When mom returned we were rolling on all fours.

I headed straight for the food when we got home….I have to work at keeping that pound on my bod…I like to see mom smile and laugh.   After dining on the ham mom rolls up for me…I call them ham rollups.  I know she sticks my arthritis meds in it but I do love ham and most times I can barely taste the meds. MOL

As I was cleaning the ham off my face, mom decided to put me in the stroller.  Now, this stroller has been in the house for some time and I’ve looked it up and down, stepped in it and it doesn’t seem to do anything  so I was happy to get in the stroller but I started to pace.                                                             akarelMom stuck her scarf beside me and I relaxed with her smell so close to me.

Since I seemed relaxed mom decided we needed a walk outside in the fresh air.  I was a little unsure of this idea but I didn’t say anything, just gave mom my, “Really!” look, with huge blue eyes.  She got the message, stroked my furs and chattered away to me as she usually does and I laid down.

aklzmwalkMOL…and we were off in a cloud of horse buns!  Mom walked us to a busy street just as a fire engine was roaring by with siren blaring.   Good grief that was louder than Cow Kitty during a nip attack!

We walked up near the park and fancy that, the city had put a bench out for mom to sit on since she walked Shoko up here.  Someone must have seen her chugging along  and thought she needed some place to sit.  MOL                                                                   akfwkThe smells were awesome.  I loved it and wished we lived closer to the bush.

akswkBefore long it was time to head home.  I finally did it!  I went out for a ride in the stroller.  Shoko can’t tease me anymore about being a fraidy cat. MOL

Have a relaxing evening buds.                                                             Kali and Shoks

Belated Happy Canada Day

Wednesday Canada turned 148.  That’s almost 149.  This reminds mom of the ad for Woodward’s.  ♫$1.49 day , Woodward’s. $1.49 day, Tuesday.♫  Now, only those in Western Canada will know what mom’s talking about, like Nellie from The Cats from Hell’s mom.  This little jingle came out in April of1958 and was very popular.  Look at the shoppers on this $1.49 day.  Notice the housewives going for a bargain.

Woodwards $1.49 day

Canada Day was very hot here and us northern cats and peeps are not used to hot weather for any length of time.  So we really suffer.  Give us ice, snow and freezing rain….these we don’t like but can handle.  So Kali and I flopped around  sighing.

Ok, I flopped and Kali was prissy as usual.

Mom and dad took off for the big park here in Prince George.  It was Fort George Park but now is Memorial Park because some ancient bones of aboriginals have been discovered in the park….in various locations.  Making the park a native burial resting ground and thus sacred for all natives.

Both mom and dad are extremely interested in other cultures and want to participate.   They got  a chance to get Turbans made for them by Sikhs at the park.    Making up these turbans is quite the effort.  However, the Sikh men and women doing the work were fast and so polite and nice.  Mom didn’t realize there were different styles of turbans but she noticed at least 4 different styles right there at the booth.

Jean in turban2                                                                  Bill turbanDon’t they look awesome!  We wanted turbans too.  So mom gave us  each our own turbans.  What do ya think?

The turbans in the park were gathered and neatly wrapped around the head in several layers.  This was done for free by the Sikhs.  In order to show their lifestyle.  Mom and dad were told that while they wore the turban, they could not use profanity, drink or smoke and not eat meat.  Obviously words they live by.

A sign on the tent of the Sikhs at the park:  “Keep calm and put your turban on.”    Words to live by.

Shoko and I discussed Artsy Day and Selfie Sunday and I got Artsy Fartsy Day blog hop.   So here is the link to Athena and Marie at their blog hop.  I am submitting me with my orange turban as art.

Selfie Sunday belongs to me.  I shared with Kali and now its my turn to show everyone my turban on The Cat On My Head”s Blog Hop.  Merely click on the fabulous hosting blog and you can view all my other Selfie buddies.
