A beautiful day here at Fort Meezer. Everything in the garden is at its peak. Soon the veggie garden will be nekked again. Oh Cod, this Love Lies Bleeding has grown way too big…it looks silly. Mom says she’s not going to plant it in containers next year. No, she’ll probably plant corn in the wagon!
The sweet peas were very pretty this year and mom grew them from the seed of last year’s sweet peas. However, she only got red and pink seeds. no purple or white. Next year we’ll buy them so we get the whole spectrum of colours.
I’m walkin’ here…give me room. We’re going for a stroll Shoko, want to come? No way….I’m headed to the Lane. You yapped at me for stepping on you last time I went. Suit yourself…Shoko.
What a kook she is….winter will be here soon and there won’t be any strolls.
Mom doesn’t always put the netting over the top of me anymore unless potential danger is headed this way…like a woofie. I’m happy to lay and watch the scenery go by. I came home and ate like my food was walking away. MOL
Then everything changed and it got foggy and cloudy. The forest fires are still raging on as this setting shows us, as the sun was bleeding.
The garden has been grown’ something awesome in the last couple of weeks. This is how the flower garden looked at the end of winter. Disgusting isn’t it? We had very little snow and very, very cold weather. We lost almost all our perennials. What are those blue patches you ask? They are piles of fertilizer to kill the weed called Horse’s Mane. This weed has elastic roots and if you grab it to pull it out….the spores disperse throughout the garden. Each spore starts a new Horse’s Mane.
It is easy to see where the weed is dying from the fertilizer. One must have patience as the dying must happen underground too. So we have patches of dead Horse’s Mane lying all over the garden. The girls are not interested.
Our squash patch was much the same…nekked!
Kinda depressing work, when I look at it now. We even lost all our strawberries. Such a pile of work.
I toiled all day in the veggie garden. Only coming in for naps and food. I worked my paws to the bone. I think it was worth it.
Hi Cow Kitty, quite the amount of nip plants this year. I count 4 but they’re rather squished now. MOL
What’s that Cow Kitty doing, Shoks? It’s ok, Kali. Cow Kitty is havin’ some nip but there’s 4 plants out there. We won’t run out.
Well, there’s our garden so far. The best patch is the veggie garden if I don’t say so myself. MOL
As they say sometimes you’re the seed, sometimes you’re the dirt. Hope tomorrow is a seed kind of day.
I’m going to be an artistic devil today. Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty, is continuing with her artsy blog hop this week. Go have a peek at your anipals in odd artistic backgrounds. Have a few laughs to start your day.
MOM…..RED VIOLET Kali decided she wanted to do Sunday Selfie so I get the fun artistic picture. Mom and I chose a picture mom took this morning while I was helping her make the bed. We do have chores. No free lunch in this abode.
Mom, are you and dad going somewhere for a vacation this year? We are Shoko. You’re going to leave us alone? No, of course not! Judy the petsitter is going to stay here while we’re away. Really? That will be so much nicer than being here alone with Kali. She works during the day doesn’t she? She does Shoko. Good….I mean we need some private time too. How long will you be gone? A little over two weeks Shoko. When I come back ‘ll have a few treats for you and Kali. Say that sounds cool!
We received the Travelling Sunglasses, that originated with Phoebe of 15 and Meowing, from The Critters in the Cottage. Mom was delighted but I was skeptical. What was I suppose to do with these things? Mom said I was supposed to wear them….where and what for? Mmmm…. Island Paradise treats.
Everything looks strange. MOL. Everybody can see your nekked legs, mom! I think our friends have seen nekked legs before Shoko. Well, at least they’re no longer as furry as mine. MOL
Let’s take a stroll through the Lane. Our neighbours worked and got rid of some trees earlier during the summer. There was a loud racquet for days coming from this backyard. This is what they added. A wire fence or a section of it. Looks like some peeps are ready to play hockey out here. These folk had a B & E early last year and this is their protection now, a new fence where everybody can walk around it.
I’m coming mom. Slow down I gotta read the newspaper and find out who’s been here. Spot the Siamese! MOL Pretty good hiding place, eh? I still can’t catch a mouse though….I’ve tried everything…cwap! Ahhhh….feels good to lay down.
Here is a slightly blurry picture of Cow-Kitty looking proud as punch. Yep, you’re right, this is a pile of dirt on Showkali Island. Cow-Kitty was sleeping in here when mom got up this morning so she took him a bowl of Purrfect Bistro Duck Pate. He proceeded to gobble it up and then he buried his bowl. Mom had never seen this before have you?
