Shopping and Cooking Around the World

Bacon, of Piglove,  is having his Shopping Around the World blog hop today and we thought we would honour him by cooking a snack with no meat.  Teddy of Two Spoiled Cats is the guest host for this month so we applaud Teddy for taking on the duty.  *apaws* *apaws*  We decided this was a great idea.                                                  Our snack is a warm and a fun food….no cares, no worries.  The only things that lost their lives ….oh, oh!  What Shoks?  What did YOU do wrong?  This snack has meat….bacon to be exact.  How could you Shoko…..poor Bacon…you’re cooking him!  The poor guy.  I feel terrible Kali.  You should…maybe we can get around it.  We’ll call it, um, nocab.  Gotcha!

Today we are making CHEESE AND NOCAB-STUFFED PEPPERS  This is a snack you can make and cook in 30 seconds…I mean minutes, 30 minutes.  Mom can make it up quickly cause dad keeps eating them.  So she’s getting lots of practice.

INGREDIENTS

10 jalapeno or banana peppers…$0.27 each fresh
2 slices of nocab….$5.28…500 grams No Name
3 tablespoons cream cheese…$2,88 No Name
2 tablespoons of fresh mint…$1.98 President’s Choice

DIRECTIONS

Seed peppers. Cook nocab slices until crispy. Finely chop or rip them up. Stir cream cheese with chopped mint. Stuff peppers with cream cheese mixture and top with nocab pieces. Broil on a baking sheet for 2 to 3 minutes.

You could have softened the cream cheese Shoko, crap!  My paws are getting cramps and I broke a nail.

This is it for the recipe.  You will notice mom has more than 3 tablespoons of cream cheese…this is because she’s cheating and adding more cream cheese with green onions and nocab…a little summer savoury for additional flavour.  I urge you to first try the recipe and then experiment.

The peppers are from our garden and so different sizes.

Hope you enjoy our snacks.

Have a memorable day…meow it up!

Sunday Selfie With Shoko/ Welcome Teddy Kimmel

SHOKO…..BLACK
KALI…..ORANGE

The Cat on My Head is having it’s selfie Sunday today and we were torn as to what to post.  I know…pictures of us…OK but doing what?  We could be eating, sleeping playing smacky paw or generally laying out like ladies by the names of Muckety and Muck.  Decisions, decisions.

Mom changed the bed but Shoko would not get out from the blankets on the floor.  I dug for her and even mewed her name but nothing.                                                        aakali5Shoko my nail polish is peeling off with all this digging. Tsk..dang, I broke a nail…if you’re in there Shoks, you better come out while I’m just ticked.”

aakali“Are you ok Shoks?  Really Shoko….get your buns out here!”

Kali never noticed when I escaped from the blankets.  She was too busy looking at her broken nail. MOL                                                                          aashokstable1I better sneak back into the bedroom before she starts hissing at me.  What fun…mew                                                                            catonheadbdGo on over to The Cat on My Head and see your friends posing like idiots….I mean like gentle kitties. There were many famous peeps named Teddy. There was Teddy Roosevelt, Teddy Kennedy. Ted(dy) Danson, Ted(dy) Knight, Ted(dy) Turner, Ted Koppel and Ted(dy) Bundy, Ted(dy) Kaczynski but these two last guys are rotten Teds so they’re throwin’ out the door with the bath water.
Does this little guy look somewhat like his big brother Angel Sammy or what? I think these boys will become the Daunting Duo, like Batman and Robin.  Drop by Two Spoiled Cats and Dory’s Backyard  look at the other blogs in the blog hop.

We welcome you to Blogville Teddy.  We all over you any help or giggles you’ll ever need.                                                      sammykMay your pawsteps always be soft and your voice gentle.                                                                              sistersinarmswinter

What a Day!!

Wednesday Purrs

Today started with Shoko singing at about  5:30am…mom hollered to be quiet Shoko.  This didn’t deter Shoks as she began really singing loud a half an hour later.  Mom got up checked the food, water and kit lit….all looked good so she went back to bed.  However  , after talking with Shoko and wandering around the house, she couldn’t get back to sleep so we all got up at 6:30am….thanks Shoko.

What a horrible morning.  I was minding my own business watching Shoko walk through mom’s containers of flowers thinking, “What a dunce, she’s getting her feet and face all wet.”

Out comes mom looking all phoney happy and chattering a mile a minute.  This means something is about to happen to one of us.  I was secretly hoping it was going to be Shoko but no way, mom picked me up and remarked how heavy I was.  I am not mom and don’t be so rude!

Oh no!! She took me to the carrier with the fluorescent orange blanket….not that I have a carrier without a florescent orange blanket.  This trip will mean the vets.  Mom was kind of upset because I have a tendency to get ingrown nails and when dad clipped my nails last time, the middle nail bled and I made a big fuss about it.

When we got to the vets they took us right away.  This hardly ever happens so I didn’t see my friend Joan.  The technician weighed me and I had lost one and a half pounds.  So there mom…I’m not as heavy as I was before.

Dr. Bowman was our vet and I didn’t care for him.  He kept poking around my nail so I growled at him a few times.  I got to give him credit….he knew I was getting fed up and sped the exam along nicely.  Turns out my nail was pretty good.  He thinks I have arthritis in my front paws though.  He gave mom some weird looking pills.  You’re not giving those things to me!                                                                        brighten vetThe ride home was very quiet…I had nothing to say and mom was just glad that part was over.

We arrived home and Shoko was nowhere in sight.  Mom called and called her…she was a no show.  Then mom caught a glimpse of her….

Guess she was tired after getting us all up so early.

The capsule…well I smelled the contents of my food and I wouldn’t eat it.  Shoko liked it though.  Mom was having a dicky bird telling Shoko, “No, you don’t need that.”  Next step…..spoon feed me the medicine and food.  We’ll see if that works.

I’m laying out like Lady Muck and mom has a wee spoon with Fancy Feast beef on it and my med.  I taste it and……make way, where’s the bowl of this stuff.  It’s delicious!  Mom is happy and I’m full.
