Friendly Fill-Ins and Bloopers

15 and Meowing‘s Ellen and Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs blogs have made some sentences for us to fill in.  We’re taking turns…even mom is taking a turn.

Today is the last Friday of the month so it is blooper day or Pet Photo Fails from Melissa’s Mochas, Mysteries and Meows.
Mom only has a couple of photo fails this month.  Probably because she wasn’t able to nag us as much with her foot acting up.
I have a favourite place to disappear and usually be hidden away from the furry annoyances here.                                                                            Tyebe discovered my wee fortress with the toilet paper and made herself very comfortable….foiled again!
The other photo fail is of me!
Mom cut off my paws while I was posing so prettily. She just *wham* cut off my paws. Not one feeling of remorse. She can be cruel. mol

My First Selfie In The Lane

C’mon mom, let’s go for our walk.  It’s not as windy.
SHOKO…..BLACK
MOM……MAROON

This is what’s left of our snow.
Compared to the snow from a little over a month ago.

Um…I’ll be busy for awhile mom. This newspaper is very aromatic and ready for the sniffing.

Juno’s been out here. The nosy little tinkle head. Smudge is still here, good for him. He must’ve got a good vet report and that rash must’ve disappeared. I really must invite him over for some nip and a spot of cool water.   Be there in a few minutes mom!
Buds are just starting to form on this wee tree. I’ll take a picture in 2 weeks and see how far it’s come along.

I’m headed to the nip Shoks.  Be right there, mom.

Look at those juicy sprouts of nip. Some little tinkle head next door has been getting it all dirty. Geez!

It’s also Sunday Selfie time at The Cat On My Head.                                                      Jump on over and participate with us or just have a peek at your buddies.  Hit the highlighted blog hop’s name and you’re there!

How’s this for a quickie….selfie. I made it while walking. No moss growing under my paws!

Spring into Monday, my friends.

Shopping Around the World With Shoko

Another month and another Shopping and Cooking Around the World with our host Bacon of Piglove.

We are supposed to show you what our ‘go to’ meal is. You know, when you come home pooped and don’t feel like making a big meal that everyone devours in 5 minutes. Mom has a few of those type of meals but dad’s favourite is Pizza with extras.

Mom got the 2 pizzas at Real Canadian Superstore for $2.98 each – $5.96

1 can sliced black olives = $1.18

100 mg. of Black Forest Ham = $3.67

100 mg. of pizza pepperoni = $1.92

There….. all your ingredients cost $12.73.  That’s for 2 pizzas with enough leftovers to make another meal.                                                      INSTRUCTIONS:  Place the black olive slices on the pizza first.  Put on as many as you like.  Then place the ham all over the black olives and finally, your pepperoni spread out to cover the ham.  Follow the directions on the outside of the pizza cartons for cooking.  You’re finished.

I am sorry, everyone seemed to jump in and take their pizza…..photos be damned!

Remembrance Day In Canada

The 11th day of November is Remembrance Day here in Canada.  A day where we all remember the men, women and animals that  fought for us so we could live free.  We owe our lifestyle to these brave men, women and animals.  Some died, some were physically  scarred and all would never be the same again.  War takes a hefty toll but these great heroes faced evil incarnate for the rest of us.  We are humbled by their loyalty to our country.

Along with horses and dogs, the list of types of animals employed in war is extensive, from birds and rodents sent into tunnels to detect poisonous gas to donkeys, reindeer and elephants used to carry heavy loads. Animals have also been kept by military units as pets and mascots, offering comfort and companionship and helping to boost morale among troops. Cats have often fallen into this category, though they have also served by catching rats on ships and carrying messages around their necks onto the battlefield.

Individual animals have also been honoured. The Dickin Medal, also known as the animals’ Victoria Cross, was established in 1943 to recognize animals who had shown “conspicuous gallantry or devotion to duty while serving or associated with any branch of the Armed Forces or Civil Defence Units.” From 1943 to 1949, 54 animals received the medal. Amongst them were dogs, horses and one cat, but the majority of recipients were carrier pigeons. With a good sense of direction and the ability to fly up to 100 kilometres an hour, these animals flew through difficult weather conditions and direct gunfire to deliver important messages, saving lives as a result.
