Signs of Fall Around Fort Meezer

Last night was cold…Kali and I snuggled up with mom instead of leaving the bedroom after our story and treats. It was -7C and we felt quite chilled.  Mom even turned the heat up.                                                     Mom and I went out for a walk in the Lane today.  Fall was in the air.  First, we checked out the backyard.

Woah, the sunflower is looking like the giant fell out!  Wonder where he went?                                               Time to take it down and put the head on the shed roof for hungry birds.

Speaking of the shed, we have two of them now, thanks to dad.                                                           Nice, eh?  The big one is for the snow blower, lawn mower, shovels etc.  The little one is for ornaments and containers for summer.  We’ll see how this works out.  These peeps aren’t the most organized…so we’ll see what spring brings.

The brussel sprouts have had their touch of frost to make them sweeter.                                                       It’s kinda sad….all my work and it’s over for another year. *sigh*

The Lane is looking like it’s seen better days.  Trees have either yellow leaves, a few green leaves or they’re bald.                                           This is the time of year that little critters are up and actively looking for warm homes.                                                      Oh, oh!!  It smells like fresh mouse, right here.  You go ahead mom, I’ll catch up.

The four-legged little beast got away but I know where he lives….mol

Ya, let’s go see what Kali’s doing at the house.

Where’d those two go…..my tummy says it’s dinner time.

Wonder if it will be cold again tonight.

Friendly FryDay Fill-Ins For Furs Sake

It’s time for Ellen from 15 and Meowing and Annie from McGuffy’s Reader‘s Fryday Fill-In fun.

SHOKO…..BLACK
KALI…..ORANGE

Kali and I decided I’d go first.  Kali’s waiting for her nails to dry…really Kali?  Geez!

Oh, my!  This is more like a funny farm with mom hobbling around and you drying your nails like some dancer in Las Vegas….no wonder dad went away for a holiday.

He needs rose coloured glasses like I have. mol

Onward to our fill-ins for today.

I am far too….. INTIMIDATED TO RUN OUT AND PLAY WITH THE MANCATS IN THE LANE.  I’D LIKE TO, BUT KALI WOULD BE VERY ANNOYED WITH ME AND THAT OLE GAL PACKS A MEAN WHACKY PAW.

  1. To save money, I GET MOM TO CUT OUT COUPONS FOR OUR CAT TREATS.  THERE AREN”T MANY COUPONS CAT TREATS.  I HAVE TOLD MOM THAT WE DON”T MIND IF WE NEVER GO BACK TO THE VET,  THAT SAVES ALOT OF MONEY.

  1. TIME….. matter(s).   IF, WE ARE FED PROMPTLY  AT 8-10AM AND THEN AGAIN FROM 6-7PM, WE EXPECT OUR FOOD AT THESE TIMES.  NO EXCUSES….WE ARE STARVING WHEN YOU’RE 5 MINUTES LATE.

  1. OUR TENT makes me think …..OF SHOKO’S CAMPSITE IN CAT SCOUTS…HERE IN THE GARDEN……RIGHT NEAR THE CATNIP.                                      Have a fantastic weekend friends.

Fort Meezer’s Hartsy Artsy Caturday.

SHOKO…..BLACK
KALI…..ORANGE

The weekend again…they sure come fast.  That’s cause we don’t work Shoko.  I do too work…who do you think is keeping the garden up?  It’s not the Tooth Fairy.  It’s me…think of all the tending I do and then come in and collapse.  Naturally mom wants to play cause she’s been in the house puttering about or playing  with the plants outside but not me….I have been slugging it out giving my all to make sure the veggies are coming ahead.                                                                Notice, I’m losing weight from all this running about excavating and spreading fertilizer.

Goings on in the Lane are about the same.  The mud puddles are gone.  Replaced with dust.                                                              Cow Kitty is still pressing his luck and I’m still giving him meowing hell-o.

It’s Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s artsy Caturday.  Unfortunately Athena has computer problems and will not be hosting the Artsy Fartsy pictures this week but here’s our offering anyway.

Seems Athena fixed her puter problems and the Artsy Caturday photo line up is on again.  Geesh!  That didn’t take long to fix.

Here is our attempt for this week.                                                                     Mom applied an ice border and then in Art she applied abstract.  There I am!!

Have a great Caturday.

Fill Her In I say But Make It Friendly Like

You got the shovel Kali?  What for Shoko?  Well, we gotta dig a hole to get mom into…..this is going to take a while.  What are you doing with that trowel…we need real shovels that can dig lotsa dirt at one time.  We’ll be digging from now till winter with a trowel.  I don’t like this Shoko….we’ll never get mom to go sit in a hole…..while we throw dirt at her.  Then she’s going to be annoyed and we won’t see treats for some time to come.  Hmm…you got a point ghosty sister of mine.  Let’s just forget it till we have a better plan.

Another Fryday with another Fill-In from Ellen of 15 and Meowing and Annie from McGuffy’s Reader.  These two gals think up two sentences each for us to fill in.  The first two are from 15 and Meowing and the last two are from McGuffy’s Reader.  Pretty clever, eh?

I made a fort between the pillows in bed….I’m comfy how bout you?

1. A recurring dream I have is….. THAT BUDDY VISITS ON A BEAUTIFUL HORSE AND WE GO RIDING IN THE BACK LANE.  OH MY I’M GETTING EXCITED….                                                                    He is gorgeous! Buddy is from  Tomcat Commentary by Tim  Look at those basket eyes…hehehe….I love em so much I could rip some of his furs out to take to my basket and dream of him I.  On second thought we don’t need the horse.  We’d probably use our claws to get up on the horse and the horse would bolt….leaving us on our heads on the ground. MOL

2. Turn…..HYPOALLERGENIC WET FOOD….. into …..DELI ROAST TURKEY….. AND I’D BE A HAPPY CAMPER.                                                                Mom does her best to get me to eat and sometimes I’m absolutely fascinated by the lengths she’ll go to and I absent- mindedly eat the slop.

My turn Kali….I must express myself before I burst. MOL

3. CAPPY-TAN….. is driving me crazy!  He waits outside our door for one of us to come outside,  He even sings to us.  Myself, I think he’s not neutered and is ready to get his MEW off.

4. Lately, I have been….HAPPY TO STAY AROUND THE BACKYARD AND INVESTIGATE BUGS IN THE GARDEN……  a stroll is wonderful when the weather is beautiful and warm but when the wind’s howling, the backyard with the six foot fence is the place to play.

There you have it my friends, our opinions on today’s fill-ins.

Strictly the views of the occupants of Fort Meezer.

Funny, Farty, Friday Fill-Ins

ellen_cat_badge_2-1-300x300

Shoko, there is nothing farty or smelly about our fill-ins, you just wanted to write farty, didn’t you?  You can be so….so…kittenish sometimes and not in the cute way.                                                               asleepsh1

Ellen of 15 and Meowing blog and Anne of McGuffy’s Reader blog, are introducing another set of Fill-Ins for us to play with.  Thank you ladies and we’ll try to give it our best try.

1. One Thanksgiving tradition I have is….. TO RUN AROUND  THE LIVING ROOM MEWING FOR KALI TO CHASE ME AND WHEN SHE DOES, I RUN INTO THE TUNNEL AND WAIT FOR HER….THEN I CHASE HER OUTTA THE TUNNEL.  SHE FALLS FOR IT EVERYTIME. LOL

bbcI MADE THIS TUNNEL WITH MY OWN GRUBBY PAWS.

2. Black Friday…..IS WHEN EVERYONE HAS TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR NINJA ASSASSINS.                                                                             stressed-out

3. The best part about Thanksgiving Day is…..BEING BATHED IN A COOKED TURKEY SMELL ALL DAY.  Mmmmm….. LOVE IT!                                                                aaadeslshokcrsmzm

4. One Thanksgiving,…..I SEARCHED AND SEARCHED FOR A MOUSE OUTSIDE IN THE LANE.  I FINALLY BROUGHT ONE HOME, LIVE AND SQUIRMING BUT MOM WOULDN’T LET ME IN.  I HAD AN APPETIZER  FOR EVERYONE BUT SHE WOULD NOT LET ME IN.  I WAS FORCED TO SET IT FREE AND GO INSIDE WITHOUT A PRESENT FOR ANYONE.  I WAS SO EMBARRASSED TO SHOW UP EMPTY PAWED.

                                                                    aaamouseshokcrzmsm

What’s the difference between a cat and a frog?   A Cat has nine lives but a frog croaks every night!  MOL, MOL…….I like that one Shoko!

Remember Me Thursday

Yes, I remember the wonderful days vividly!  Those carefree days of summer in the veggie garden.  I watched Cow Kitty make a fool of himself attacking the pea netting.                                                             aaaagardenshoksmI’m sniffing to see if there is enough water here for the peas…..if not I must contribute…MOL

Cow Kitty was delighted to be back in the vegetable garden too.  Sitting up on the frame for the peas, surveying the garden..  See how well the Scarlet Runner beans produced this year.                                                                         aackbeans

I dipped my paws in the pool water. The pool was an oasis for all thirsty creatures that braved Fort Meezer.  We did have more water in the pool.  Luckily there were no ducks swimming in it.  Cow Kitty would have leaped in the pool if that happened.

We were introduced to our new stroller. I had reservations. I mean a basket on wheels?  Seriously?  I had no idea of the thrills ahead.

Get outta here you yappy woofies….your mama wears diapers!!  MOL…..hiththtth!                                                   aaaaaashokostroll

Kali was delighted with a slow stroll through the neighbourhood. She is very nosy and happy when out and about meeting peeps.
aklzmwalk
Kali was happy to let the woofies be and enjoy the fresh air.

We had several walks down the Lane.  Cow Kitty even came with us.  I didn’t like him with us, he’s too bossy.                                                  aaaaashokckkaliOh mom, can you enlarge this picture?  Kali is way behind on the right hand side but she looks like a dot.  She always seems to dance to her own tune.                                                                      ackskalIs that the best you can do?  Kali’s still a dot but everyone can see I’m telling Cow Kitty off and he could care less.

We participated with the others with Phoebe’s sunglasses.  I felt like a movie star but all was dark.  Kali wore them too. She’s not impressed with mom putting them on.  Whatever!!

Kali and I entered a few events at the Pawlympics, Easy’s Tuneful Farting, Noodle’s Tongue Rolls and Raspberries and Dezi’s Fly Fishin’.  My favourite was Easy’s Tuneful Farting cause it really messed with Kali’s head. MOL                                                                          kalitunefulfartingKali is embarrassed because ladies don’t talk of these terrible bodily functions.

We won  ribbons and a certificate for our efforts in Easy’s Tuneful Farting.                                                                   img_0815

This summer I had two teeth out and met the substitute Tooth Fairy.  Scary and hairy!                                                                           atoothfairyMom took me for a walk on my harness and found out I can slip out of the harness like a magician.                                                                      aashokcrleashMOL….that was fun!  The look on mom’s face was priceless.

These have been great summer moments in our lives and a fantabulous way to share on Remember me Thursday.

To keep peeps up to date.  Here is a picture of mom’s finger without the bandage.  No more drugs or pain just a little tightness on the finger.                                                              aafingerniShe gets the stitches out tomorrow.  She’s some happy about it.

There you have it our happy memories of the summer.  Tomorrow is the first day of Fall and the cold weather.

May all your worms be in the ground my friends! MOL                                                                   SHOKOKALI2

A Stitch In The Finger….. Hurts!

Mom had minor surgery today on her baby finger.  When the orthopedic surgeon put the replacement joint in her baby finger, 5 years ago, he had already fused the joint.  Mom could never understand why he did this but so be it.  After living with this misplaced joint, she discovered writing was more difficult because the joint rubbed, was a nuisance and with repeated use, hurt. Also with this rubbing, the joint area turned black.
Mom will tell you what happened in her own words…take it away mom
Thanks Kali.

I went to the hospital a little earlier than our appointment and the doctor took me early. Let me tell you about this procedure while it’s still fresh in my mind.  I went into this room called Minor Surgery #2.  The nurse asked my address, phone # and
where I lived…just to make sure I had all my marbles before the procedure started, I guess.  I managed to get all the answers right, so we carried on.  Dr P came in and explained….very roughly, what he was going to do to my finger.  It sounded ghastly so I tuned him out, and only caught the odd word.  Humming *California Dreamin’* in my head, I got on the table with a bit of assistance from the nurse.  Delighted my  own bed was so much more comfy.  I didn’t like lying flat, so had them adjust my bed.  I must admit my tummy sure disappeared though.  Once a bit more comfortable we carried on.  My hand was cleaned with some antiseptic stuff that ran down my arm and was freezing cold.  I mentioned that antiseptic was running down my arm and the Dr. said they’d get it….they forgot all about it.  Onward….we went with three huge needles to my finger area.  One shot between the ring and baby finger, right at the web part.  The next shot was on the finger near the joint.  The final shot was on the side of my palm.   These areas are tender as a baby’s butt.  The final touch was the tourniquet on my upper arm.  The tourniquet was so very tight, it was a hurtin’ something fierce.  Perhaps this was to take my attention away from the finger.  A bloodless operation.  I liked the sound of that.  I was told the tourniquet was just for a *few minutes*. The doctor worked, the nurse restocked the bandage cabinet and I lay on the steel bed counting the dents in the ceiling.  The next thing that happened was the Dr. asking for an instrument from the nurse who seemed to have left.  The doctor was getting agitated and ended up shouting for her in the corridor.  I swear only in Prince George would this happen. Shortly, the nurse came rushing in the room after telling us she took some garbage to the trash room.  I hope she washed her hands.  I got back to counting the multitude of dents in the ceiling as all was in order once again.  Dr P declared he was putting the stitches in and then I’d be free to go.  My, I deserved a fun food for going through this crap.  But what, chocolate covered raisins, chocolate bark( big slab of chocolate) or pumpkin cookies.  Decisions, decisions! Dr, P finished up and the very last thing the nurse did was to loosen the tourniquet.  My hand was red, red….not like a beet but a close runner-up.  Eek…no feeling either.                                                                      aaafingerWoohoo…I was out of the surgery room by noon PDT.It wasn’t fun but it’s done except for the stitches coming out. I got a prescription for t’3’s as these are my preferred pain killers Yes, I’ve delved into the world of pain-killers and have favourites.                                                                          aaashok2After a trip to the grocery store for a few goodies, mom was home.  She looked fine especially for one of the walking wounded.  Time to take us for a walk and stroll….off we went up the Lane.
