Welcome to Fort Meezer in Da Hood my friends. Shoko’s idea of a name for the area around the backyard got a 47% vote. So look for Shoko to start sprucing up the area soon…right Shoko? Right Kali but hey, you gotta help too. Ah, I’m going to be more concerned with the backyard and grounds. This area by a vote of 46.7% is now called The Garden of Purrthley Delights. This delicious idea was CK’s of Stunning Keisha. Now, the greenhouse is like a world unto itself and Kali and I have decided to call it Shokali Island. When you walk into the greenhouse you are on a tropical island. The idea was Easy’s of Easy’s Blog. These are fun and informative blogs, take a peek and see.
These are the bounties from Shokali Island.Peppers are ready for eating as are the leeks. Spaghetti squash are ripe for the picking. Mom’s never cooked these kind of squash so dad’s in for a big surprise!
Guess who, grabbing some shut eye,
Onto mom’s meeting with Cow-Kitty’s dad. Mom said he was a very nice man. She asked if Cow-Kitty was a girl or boy. Darnell said they weren’t sure. They suspect she is a SHE. Her name is Felix…..ok? Mom never said what a weird name for a she cat but held her tongue. Mom told him about Kali getting very angry at Felix and she suspects its because Felix is growing up and has a different smell. Mom asked how old Cow Kitty was and Darnell said a couple of months. Mom corrected him and said at least 4 or 5 months. It is time to think about getting him neutered. Darnell agreed he should be neutered. Mom asked if he wanted to keep Cow-Kitty and he said his young daughter adored Cow-Kitty…even Darnell was calling Felix, Cow-Kitty. Right then mom knew she could never take a kitty away from a young girl. Mom told Darnell, who is out of work, that if they needed some assistance getting Cow-Kitty neutered that she would pay half. Darnell was thrilled mom offered to help.
There you have it friends. Cow-kitty’s sex is undetermined. His/her name is Felix and is not free for the taking Ellen.
I’ll bet you wondered what happened to us. We haven’t posted for awhile. Mom has been busy with harvesting the veggies. Well, all this warm weather has had a great effect on the veggie garden. The peas, chard and beet greens are being frozen for the winter. Beets have been frozen and 2 bags of peas. This took quite the amount of time. We had to pick the peas, shell them and divide the older peas from the tender ones. Granted mom and dad did most of this but I walked through the garden with her. Just so she didn’t mess up the veggies.
a small pot of tender Ruby Chard
What have we been doing while mom and dad are steaming their faces off with the veggies? It has turned cool here so our pool has disappeared. No more fun with the pool. Dad cut our catnip wwwway back and hung the stalks from the ceiling of the deck. Mom will pack the leaves and buds away for our relatives at Christmas. This is still what mom and dad are doing but Kali and I helped with these chores. I sat in the middle of the catnip and yelled in perfect Niponese,”NO!! Not our nip!” Dad didn’t listen but said my voice was very forceful.
No! Down came the nip. Mom said there is another full month of summer, at least, and I’ll be chewin’ on nip again this summer. Nice tender nip too. I like the sound of that mom. Remember that Flat Einstein and Timmy are coming for a visit from Pennsylvania in August.
Kali has not been up to much. She keeps using her stairs in the bedroom. Looking all smug and happy. Today I showed her what I could do with the stairs.
I just wanted Kali to see that I was no longer afraid of the stairs. My point made, I left to help outside.
Kali went into the living room and covered herself while laying on the love seat.
I was not in as much demand as I thought so I headed out to the greenhouse. Kali and I spent the rest of the afternoon resting up.
I had a marvelous day yesterday at Cat Scouts. Sammy of the Worldwide Wildcat Troop put on a Greenhouse warming party and we all brought our nip plants. Well, I had a riot chasing some mice out back with a few of my pals. Needless to say I overindulged in the nip and mom informed me I sounded weird so we should go home.
Once home I did what every cat that was “nipped” out would do…….I slept.
Today I was chompin’ at the bit to get out in the sunshine. So dad let me out. That was early this morning. Mom called and called me but I never showed up and I usually come to her by the second calling. By 2pm, mom was fussin’ and fumin’ as to where I was…..so dad, wanting to put mom’s mind at rest, MOL….came lookin’ for me. I was found fast asleep under one of the neighbour’s 87,000 old cars. Dad took me home and told mom where he found me. Mom kept me inside but I was tired and didn’t want to go gallivanting about. I crawled up to my condo and continued my pleasant dream.
Kali had her own objectives for the day. Rising at 10am, she went tripping sleepily out to the deck.
Kali hasn’t been feeling so great lately and so mom decided to give her some Barley Cat…this aids with digestion. Kali came back in for her beef Fancy Feast. Mom thought she was being real sneaky by putting the Barley Cat into the Fancy Feast. Kali looked at the Fancy Feast, looked at mom, shook her front paws and walked away to lay down in her basket. Not the reaction mom wanted at all. Mom waited for an hour and then took a teaspoon of food to Kali in her basket. Kali proceeded to gobble the food down as if she hadn’t been fed for days. Mom tried this again with the same results. Mom got the bowl of food and gave it to her and Kali got up and finished the bowl of food.
Now, mom is just shaking her head wondering about us. Why am I found sound asleep under an old car when I have so many comfy places to sleep right here? What is Kali trying to prove by declining her food and then eating the same food when it is spoon fed to her? Every day different.
