Samantha of Samanthamurdochblog nominated us for the  “The Shuffle The Music Tag” and we thank you, Samantha, for thinking of us.  Granted she nominated us in August and us lazy ones are just getting around to posting now.  Glad Samantha never held her breath waiting for our response.

We are sharing with you our playlist……actually its Kali’s playlist on the computer.  I turn the music on when Kali gets uptight with whatever pains she’s currently enduring.  Kali is very fond of all of these songs as she becomes mellow and relaxes.  Seeing these are her songs, she can guide us through them.  Take it away, Kali.

For “The Shuffle The Music Tag” just put whatever device you use to listen to your music on, and press the shuffle button, and write a little something about the first fifteen songs that come up, what they mean to you, their history, whatever takes your fancy.  We will be doing 10 songs.  Then nominate seven or more people to participate, obviously letting them know.

I use the computer and *I Tunes* so mom shuffled my music.

1/ The first song up is I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City by Harry Nilsson.  This song has relaxing lyrics and the tempo is perfect for drying nail polish on my toes.  Granted occasionally I swing my paws over the side of my Princess Bed as the tune is so catchy.  All in all a soothing song.                                                           Sorry, the sun is blocking my paw but my nails are drying faster. mol

2/ Ferry Cross the Mersey by Gerry and the Pacemakers

This song is so relaxing that if I get upset, this song has me clapping my paws and mellowing with sleepy eyelids.  Mom was saying that these chaps played at many of the spots in England that the Beatles did.  Well, I’ll be a bug!

3/ Somewhere My Love…Lara’s Theme from Dr. Zhivago Al Martino

Mom thinks I like this song but it makes me feel so cold as the peeps struggled so hard in this movie.  It’s a great song for those hot summer days. Cools off the warmest of days.

4/ Everybody’s Talkin’ At Me by Harry Nilsson

Typical Harry Nilsson song with soothing sounds from a powerful voice.  This song was featured in Midnight Cowboy with Jon Voight.

5/ Gonna Get Drunk and Be Somebody by Toby Keith

Mew, mew….this song is great when I’m feeling down cause my paws are hurting so I feel very unimportant.  The upbeat sounds of this song make it so I can’t be down for long….I want to get up and investigate a drawer and try to find some nip.

6/ Digging up Bones by Randy Travis

This song reminds me of all my woofie friends and their favourite pass time.  It would be neat to bury one’s treats and come back later to retrieve them.  Unfortunately, I have this thing about dirt. I will not eat anything with dirt all over it.  It’s a very icky habit.  Shoko eats things she buries but not moi.

7/ The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot

A terrible plight for these sailors out on Lake Superior or Lake Gitchee Gumee  To me, this is not relaxing but Gordon Lightfoot has a great voice and mom likes the song.

8/ Canadian Girls by Dean Brody

This is a song just for us Canadian girls, Shoko, mom and me.  It makes me feel happy with its upbeat music.  I want to dance but Shoko’s a terrible dancer….always stepping on my paws.

She looks good but watch those spikes….they hurt like hell-o!

9/ Blue Canadian Rockies by Jim Reeves

This song drives me crazy!  I love this guy’s voice.  He makes the sun shine in my heart when he sings to me.  What a voice…..if only my Buddy could sing like him.*sigh*

Isn’t he somethin’? hehe.

10/  Moon River by Andy Williams

This is my very favourite song!  I could just float away on the words.  I can just picture Moon River as blue as can be without an insect or reptile in it.  Just cruising along the river in a paddlewheeler with  Buddy holding my paw. *Aha, sigh*  I know it’s supposed to be the Mississippi River and that’s so muddy that your shadow will have dirt on it…..forget all that just go with the sweet music and the illusion you get.

There you have it, friends.  My playlist and a hot one it is too.  I have more songs on it but this will give you an idea of my favourites.

We’re supposed to nominate 7 peeps/kitties for The Music Tag.  I am reluctant because I would like to hear everybody’s idea of good music.  Phenny of Easy Blog...oh Phenny, tell me your playlist, Bacon from Piglove….bring it on bud.  May I say that anyone else that wishes to do the playlist, please let us know so we can admire your songs.

Wordy Wednesday

Well, mom had to get on this harness kick again.  So on the harness went and she called me to come downstairs to the basement.  I don’t like to walk while wearing this thing.  I know I look like there is a saddle, which is far too heavy for me, straddled to my back.  Also I mince on by with tiny steps.  Dad laughed when I walked by him.  Finally, I made it to the basement.  There was a reward waiting for me.

shhaSee my race car in the background.  Now, seeing as mom gave me a treat each time I walked for the treat.  I wouldn’t walk unless I got a treat.  It didn’t take mom long to figure this out either.  Pretty soon Kali was in the basement with us getting all the attention and treats.  Mom was so happy Kali was getting exercise for her hip.  Well, mom ran out of treats and Kali and mom went upstairs while I minced along much more slowly.

While they were waiting for moi, Kali posed for a picture in my toque.

hatkaAs Kali posed I slowly made my way up the stairs where mom removed the harness.  I  proceeded to do my own posing with Kali and mom.

After we had a rest from our frolicking in the basement Mom decided to have a peek at Elfin John who has been busy fishing in the kitchen sink. Heck he caught 2 spoons and a small fork. He told mom he was ready to go back in the nightie drawer till later in the year. So Kali helped him into the drawer.
Elfinback
Kali tucked him in for a long nap and we all got a little sad.

I brought Kali into the living room where we discovered our friend had sent us some goodies. Kali was overcome by the feathers as I was and soon Elfin John was forgotten.DSCN4646
Trust mom to snap the picture when we looked away from the feathers. Really mom, get with it.

That was our day…..how was yours?

An Unexpected Visitor

We were waking up slowly this cool morning when the dresser drawer popped open.  Kali and I looked in the direction of the drawer waiting for more noise….why get up when we don’t have to, right?  Mom hollered at me, “Wha….Shoko what have you done?”  Honest it wasn’t me mom.

Mom got on her dressing gown and headed over to take a peek. Kali and I wandered over to see.

DSCN4531Oh my!  Who are you and what are you doing in mom’s nightie drawer?  You must  be Kali, the white one.  My name is Elfin John.  I come from the deep south.  Mom brought me up here when your mom and dad went south earlier this year.  I’ve been sleeping in here with the soft clothes.

DSCN4529Think I’ll mellow out here and get my bearings.

shokoelfinsmI thought you were mellowing out?  Whoohoo,…not with this stuff around….gimme some  more….Leave our nip alone..MOM!

II put him on the counter, he won’t bother you Shoko.

meatloafsm1Looks good….sniff…hack, hack….it stinks…..yuck!  You plan on eating this garbage….hop to it…I’ll take more nip, it smells so good.  Hey pass the nip fuzzy black face.  MOM                                                                                 Kali and Shoks
