Flitty Friday Fill-Ins with Flowers

Budd, tell me about the Lane and life on the road.  What do ya wanna know little one?  Did you have any friends, Budd?  I sure did, lots of friends.  Who was your best friend and what was he like?  Well, I’d have to say Sal was a steady friend that liked the same food as me.  He was a big guy, like me and we’d make the rounds of houses together.  Sal could make the most pitiful puss by drooping his whiskers and making wide innocent eyes.hehe  What a guy.  His one weakness was salmon.  He was crazy over salmon and would do almost anything if the result was him getting salmon.  One day after a particularly heavy rain I told Sal that there was a salmon swimming in in a deep puddle in the Lane.  You know he went through every puddle in the Lane to find that salmon.  Later that day he came up to me with a piece of salmon in his mouth.  “Dood, I found that salmon in the last puddle in the Lane and it was delish.  I put aside a huge piece for you but a few hours after I ate my share, I got salmon withdrawal and had to eat your share.  I mean dood, I was shaking, seeing little fishies that weren’t there.  It was horrible”, said Sal.  Was it true, Budd?  We’ll never know for sure Tyebe.  There are strange things done in the Lane after a full moon and the night before the salmon showed up there was a full moon.

What a story Budd.  You do have the tails to tell.  It’s Friday and time for the Fill-Ins with 15 and Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.

1. For Halloween, I want to be….A DARTBOARD.

2. TYEBE…. makes me feel like royalty.  EVERYTHING I DO, SHE LIKES.  UNLIKE THE OLDER FURRY LADY OF THE HOUSE.

3. On a dark and stormy night, I …..WOULD DRESS UP IN MY DEVIL COSTUME AND SCARE TYEBE AND BUDD.

4. If I had a witch’s cauldron, I would stir up a potion for …..LETTING CATS LIVE AS LONG AS HUMANS.

Mom was just head over heels over this passion flower. She thought it looked like something alien from a different world.

Have a lovely weekend friends.

Normandy/Omaha Beach….A piece of History

To read about mom and dad’s first meeting with Phenny and his family click on Easy’s Blog.

The next day these five didn’t waste time but got into Phenny’s Elephant Skate and for an elephant it was one compact elephant and they headed toward the Atlantic,  It was a long ride of about three hours.  Mom wasn’t used to sitting for so long anymore and kept getting sleepy.  Phenny helped with that…he told her things about his mom and dad that had mom wide awake.  He said his mom was renting herself out as a part-time carpenter and her dad was taking dancing lessons.  Mom was fascinated.  Is mom ever gullible!  Geesh! MOL                                                      They all arrived safely in Normandy  The little house we were renting was a beauty.                                                                             There were even 3 bedrooms so we could um and awe about which room we could have.

Unpacked we headed for Omaha Beach.                                                         This quaint house marked the start of Omaha Beach.                                                                      The only words mom understood were Omaha Beach,  camping and tennis.

While waiting mom sat on the Oceanic Kayaks.  She got up, heard a snap and landed on her face like a sack of hammers.                                                              That was a boo boo and she was determined though the knee hurt, it would not slow her down…ya right!  She never got down to Omaha Beach to find a used shell for a remembrance.  It’s probably against the law anyway.

Katty and mom made their recipe for Shopping Around The World….Salmon fish cakes.                                                                         Phenny was an enormous help.  If you want to read the Salmon Fish Cake Recipe….just click on the name.

We all decided to visit the Canadian cemetery and leave a couple of Canadian flags and candles with covers to guard against the rain.

Phenny and Flat Shoko left their blessings for those that had fought for their freedom.

Thank you fellow Canadians…your efforts are so appreciated.  I wonder if cats helped the men like in World War 1?

Mr. Phenny’s dad  took mom and dad for a drive through Normandy for a look at the different architecture of the houses.                                                                  Mom says this big house looks very official so perhaps its being used as a museum.

Too soon it was time to go back to Paris and catch the train.  They left early and arrived in Paris around noonish.  Mom was very overcome saying good bye to Katty and Phenny.  Phenny’s dad helped carry suitcases into the station.                                                                         Mom and dad thank you so much for the unforgettable visit with such fabulous peeps and of course, the one and only Da Phenny.

It was time to get on the Eurostar train and head for London from Gare du Nord.                                                                          The Eurostar goes 200 MPH.  It took about 2 hours to fly the rails to London.  They spent a total of 20 minutes in the Chunnel.                                                                            Mom and dads last view of Paris from the rails.  Isn’t this the Metro mom?

Next installment mom and dad set their paws on  London cement.

Selfie Sunday with…Shoko

Today has been a very mild day….at least for us.  Mom, Kali and I headed out for some much needed fresh air.  Mom was surprised Kali was so happy to get out but I guess she was getting as bored as the rest of us with being stuck in day after day.  Kali and I headed straight for the nip.                                                                aakalishokcrdoneEver since mom decided to feed any cats and their monkeys left out on cold nights, the place has been crawling with introoders.  We wanted to make sure the nip was fine.  The nip was bald as a billy goat!  Think that was winter’s chill, not the introoders though.  Kali ran over and left her scent on what was left of the nip so these crazy dudes know it’s our nip.

I thought she was going tinkles on the nip and was mewing at her to stop.  She said her waterworks were chilled and she couldn’t do anything even if she wanted. to.                                                                     aakalicrzm
After our visit outside where we exerted our dominance we decided it was time for a snooze.
kalipillowtalkKali felt a bit too fresh and curled inside the tent mom makes between the pillows.

I on the other paw, was feeling just right, so I retired to my bed beside the toilet paper.                                                                       aashoktpsmAww…a comfy corner of the bathroom.

Today is also Sunday Selfie with The Cat On My Head.  Go visit them….read their news of what’s happening in their house and say hiya to your anipals that are posing.

May the snow fall be short but the sunny days linger.                                              sistersinarmswinter

Preparing For A Fairy

Yep, I finished my antibiotic.  Are we really going to put my teeth out for the Tooth Fairy now?  We are!!  I’ll bet I get $ 298,034,755, 912 just like databbiesotrouttowne said I’d get.

aashokteethWhat do we do first?  First mom will get your pillow and then she’ll arrange your teeth on them so the Tooth Fairy can’t miss them.  Does the Tooth Fairy have trouble seeing?  Does she need glasses.  I can always paint my teeth black.  Calm down Shoko, the Tooth Fairy brought me treats for my teeth and some toys too.  No mew-lah?  Some money, yes.  You mean the Tooth Fairy’s broke now!  Of course not! Where do you get these ideas Shoko?                                                            ashokoteeth3There we go.  Displayed for the Tooth Fairy.  She can’t miss.

ashokoteeth2I’m going to lay here and watch the pillow all night so I can talk to the Tooth Fairy.  She must be an old woman cause mom was saying the Tooth Fairy came and took her baby teeth when they fell out.  That’s a peep Tooth Fairy, our Tooth Fairy is for cats so I’m guessing she’ll have four paws and a tail…maybe she’s even Siamese like us, Shoko.

What do you think?  Is there a special Tooth Fairy for us cats?  What does the Tooth Fairy do with all the teeth she’s collected?

Tomorrow we can see what this giving Tooth Fairy has brought me.

Remembrance Day In Canada

The 11th day of November is Remembrance Day here in Canada.  A day where we all remember the men, women and animals that  fought for us so we could live free.  We owe our lifestyle to these brave men, women and animals.  Some died, some were physically  scarred and all would never be the same again.  War takes a hefty toll but these great heroes faced evil incarnate for the rest of us.  We are humbled by their loyalty to our country.

Along with horses and dogs, the list of types of animals employed in war is extensive, from birds and rodents sent into tunnels to detect poisonous gas to donkeys, reindeer and elephants used to carry heavy loads. Animals have also been kept by military units as pets and mascots, offering comfort and companionship and helping to boost morale among troops. Cats have often fallen into this category, though they have also served by catching rats on ships and carrying messages around their necks onto the battlefield.

Individual animals have also been honoured. The Dickin Medal, also known as the animals’ Victoria Cross, was established in 1943 to recognize animals who had shown “conspicuous gallantry or devotion to duty while serving or associated with any branch of the Armed Forces or Civil Defence Units.” From 1943 to 1949, 54 animals received the medal. Amongst them were dogs, horses and one cat, but the majority of recipients were carrier pigeons. With a good sense of direction and the ability to fly up to 100 kilometres an hour, these animals flew through difficult weather conditions and direct gunfire to deliver important messages, saving lives as a result.

Blogger Recognition Award From Lexi: the schnauzer

Oh my, lexi the schnauzer recommended us for this lovely award.  We thank you Lexi for the honour and thinking of us.

Now, I am suppose to recommend 15 blogs to receive this award.  Many blogs that I follow have been here for years and probably either already have this award or don’t do awards.  Oh what the nip!  I will name 5 blogs and if they choose not to participate, so be it.

Stunning Keisha…..a wise cracking kitty who believes she should have the last word in the household.

Piglove…..in the Thompson household there are 2 cats a wee dog and a pot bellied pig named Bacon.  Houdini( wee dog) looks after the posts on Friday and Bacon guides his bro.  The 2 cats are laughing at them but Bacon and Houdini just think the cats are very happy.  A household with a pot bellied pig is hard to ignore.

The Kitten Diaries…Bella and Esme are two kittens trying their best to help girl- woman and boy-man with household chores.  At least their version of how the chore should be accomplished and along the way having a few adventures.

Timmy’s Commentary…..this is where my guy Einstein lives…he has a wonderful floofy tail, Timmy, Miss Fitz, Buttons, Kali’s love, Buddy also lives here.  Toby and a big white cat…beautiful fur..the mind clicks…Rumpy!  The going ons in this house are hilarious as the boys try to outdo each other while miss Fitz is giggling under her breath..

Da tabbies o trout towne ….trout towne has a population of 11.  Each inhabitant has his or her own idea on how things should be done.  There are 2 things they agree on.  Fish is the best possible meal and no birdz are allowed.

The other part of the award acceptance said to tell everyone how we got started and give a bit of advice to those starting out.

Well, this is going to sound very dramatic but mom had heart failure in the winter of 2013 and ended up getting a pace maker.  When the surgeon put in the pace maker he nicked the heart and the heart started bleeding.  Mom found she couldn’t walk far without being winded.  Very quickly the doctors discovered the bleeding and mom was medi-vacced down to Vancouver to a heart intensive care unit at St. Pauls Hospital.  Here she was poked and prodded and finally they drained the blood from around her heart.  Mom said it was the worst possible pain she ever felt.  She was in the hospital in Vancouver for about a week.  She and dad managed to make it home on a normal jet.  Mom was so proud but exhausted.  She wasn’t allowed to do much and  was slowly going bonkers so one day she looked at the computer and found Mousebreath magazine, then Cat Scouts and finally decided on a blog for me and my sis.

Mom has two pieces of advice…stay with the blog, so what if you have 1 visitor….do the blogging for you and a record of your pet.  Then as Lexi says, lots of pictures.  We all love to see our friends in funny positions or just mellowing out.

To those I’ve named, simply follow the same things as I have done and link back to The Edge of Night.

The very last thing to do is let the blogs that have been nominated know.
