Kali’s Vet Visit

Mom was rather nonchalant this morning, which means she’s up to something.  I was keeping an eye open for any quick activity on her part….just in case she decided it was time I got meds cause my life was too happy.  Then it happened…Kali was picked up and thrown in her carrier.  Alright. alright, gently put into the carrier.  They all jumped in the Toyota, except for Kali who was singin’ the blues.  Take it away Kali.                                                              smsm KaliWe arrived at the vet’s stinky house and were taken into the office immediately.  My leg seemed to feel better almost instantly and I wanted off the cold steel table.  I hid and tried to pretend I was home.  Oh dear, home doesn’t ever stink like this place.                                                                       ackalivetDoes this pose look like you’ve seen it before?  This is my standard pose at the vets so nothing varies much.

Dr. V sauntered into the office and stated I was beautiful….maybe she’s not so bad after all.  She stroked me and then felt all up my front legs.  She was getting a little rude.  We just met!  She then put me on the floor and yelled asked me to walk.  I hobbled like at home.  She was quite concerned as was mom.  They decided to torture me for hours.  That’s what it felt like but really Dr. V did an x-ray of each leg.  Both legs showed a fair bit of arthritis in the shoulders and paws.  The worst arthritis was in my elbows which were inflamed and quite swollen.   I was at a loss for mew’s.  Horrified even!  Does this mean I’ll no longer pad about like a model?  I started to feel glum.  This is when Dr. V said I should be on liquid morphine for three days to control the inflammation and bring the swelling down.  They might just as well have been barking…I understood nothing.  Then Dr. V told mom and dad they had to treat me like a princess on a velvet pillow for the next few days.  I understood that.  What a marvelous vet….I like her.  No other vet has ever said that before.

When we got home I told Shoko what the vet said and she didn’t believe me.  You’ll see Shoko.                                                                            aakaliupcloseI had some yucky liquid in my mouth after supper and I am very sleepy, but my elbow is ok….not great but ok.  Really, I don’t care if I have an elbow about now.  I’m going to dream about the new tiara mom got for me.                                                               aaakalitiara

Have a great weekend my fwiends….think the morphine is starting to woke.

An Under the Weather Day

What a cwappy day.  It’s pouring…..apparently the end of some hurricane decided to come all this way inland and grace us with its rain.   The wind is ahowlin’ and the leaves are blowing everywhere. I’m not impressed!                                                                             Furthermore it looks like my friends Penelope and her bro Pippin’ have had a horrible accident in the basement and may not be up to playing with us this year.  I won’t go into detail but its not a pretty sight apparently.  Mom won’t tell me anymore than that.                                                                   penelope and pippin2 Remember these cheery faces.  My friends Penelope and Pippin’.

We had such fun together.  Well what’s a kitty to do!

Kali had to go to the vet’s today too.  She didn’t want to go and told mom why but mom had her ears turned off.  Before I knew it they were back again.  I guess I must’ve fallen asleep.                                                                             Kali was very happy to get out of the carrier and disappeared before I completely woke up.  Kali has arthritis with some wasting around her hips.  The pain giver recommended fish oil and if there is no difference a capsule for arthritis will be appropriate.  Mom said it was remarkable but Kali who usually sheds all fur hanging about, so it looks like a fog has descended upon the room, didn’t shed 1 hair.                                                                              Kali vet visit3One great thing that happened today was mom got her Cat Lady box and we both helped her look inside.                                                                                                                            We exhausted ourselves with the box and are ready for a snooze.

Kali is delighted its Artsy, Fartsy Caturday  on Athena and Marie’s blog tomorrow and she gets to pose.  Simply click on the name of the hosting blog and enjoy the anipals in their artsy forms.

waterkaliHave a great weekend my friends and if you get a chance drop into Cat Scouts on Saturday as I will be celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving.  I will probably celebrate off and on for the whole long weekend.

What a Day!!

Wednesday Purrs

Today started with Shoko singing at about  5:30am…mom hollered to be quiet Shoko.  This didn’t deter Shoks as she began really singing loud a half an hour later.  Mom got up checked the food, water and kit lit….all looked good so she went back to bed.  However  , after talking with Shoko and wandering around the house, she couldn’t get back to sleep so we all got up at 6:30am….thanks Shoko.

What a horrible morning.  I was minding my own business watching Shoko walk through mom’s containers of flowers thinking, “What a dunce, she’s getting her feet and face all wet.”

Out comes mom looking all phoney happy and chattering a mile a minute.  This means something is about to happen to one of us.  I was secretly hoping it was going to be Shoko but no way, mom picked me up and remarked how heavy I was.  I am not mom and don’t be so rude!

Oh no!! She took me to the carrier with the fluorescent orange blanket….not that I have a carrier without a florescent orange blanket.  This trip will mean the vets.  Mom was kind of upset because I have a tendency to get ingrown nails and when dad clipped my nails last time, the middle nail bled and I made a big fuss about it.

When we got to the vets they took us right away.  This hardly ever happens so I didn’t see my friend Joan.  The technician weighed me and I had lost one and a half pounds.  So there mom…I’m not as heavy as I was before.

Dr. Bowman was our vet and I didn’t care for him.  He kept poking around my nail so I growled at him a few times.  I got to give him credit….he knew I was getting fed up and sped the exam along nicely.  Turns out my nail was pretty good.  He thinks I have arthritis in my front paws though.  He gave mom some weird looking pills.  You’re not giving those things to me!                                                                        brighten vetThe ride home was very quiet…I had nothing to say and mom was just glad that part was over.

We arrived home and Shoko was nowhere in sight.  Mom called and called her…she was a no show.  Then mom caught a glimpse of her….

Guess she was tired after getting us all up so early.

The capsule…well I smelled the contents of my food and I wouldn’t eat it.  Shoko liked it though.  Mom was having a dicky bird telling Shoko, “No, you don’t need that.”  Next step…..spoon feed me the medicine and food.  We’ll see if that works.

I’m laying out like Lady Muck and mom has a wee spoon with Fancy Feast beef on it and my med.  I taste it and……make way, where’s the bowl of this stuff.  It’s delicious!  Mom is happy and I’m full.
