Fa La La Fabulous Friday Fill-Ins

It’s that fun day when we fill in some words to form sentences.  This idea was the brainchild of Ellen at 15 and Meowing and Annie of McGuffy’s Reader.

1.Before you….. STEP OUTSIDE….. you need to…..PUT ON LONG UNDERWEAR, UNDERSHIRT, SNOWSUIT, HEAVY WOOL SOCKS, BOOTS, GLOVES, SCARF, HEAVY COAT, AND TOQUE.   OH YEA, BEST GO TINKLES BEFORE YOU GET DRESSED.

2. After……A WEE NAP, A GAME OF, ‘CATCH THE HUMMER’ IS IN STORE.

Creep closer.

3.Winter…..IS THE TIME TO PLAY.  HOW ABOUT A GAME OF, ‘KICK THE SHEET OUT OF MY BLANKIE.’

First, look nonchalant.

Second. Play kitchy coo under the blankie.

Third  Attack!!

4. Spring…..IS THE SEASON OF NEW GROWTH.

Up front, to the right are 2 Chervil herb plants.  This herb is also called French Parsley.  It’s commonly used to season mild-flavored dishes and is a constituent of the French herb mixture fines herbes.

Up front, to the left is Hamburg Parsley.  It has parsnip-flavored roots and edible parsley-flavored leaves.  This herb intrigued me and mom.

At the back are Poached Egg plants.  They look like poached eggs and apparently have a lovely aroma.  Oh ‘mother of mouses’, I hope they don’t smell like old eggs!

Have a fun Friday.

Friendly Feline Fill-Ins

Ellen of 15 and Meowing and Annie of McGuffy’s Reader have been posting sentences for us to fill-in once again.

I, Shoko Neilson, will take the first 2 sentences and sisteh Kali the second 2.

1. I can’t wait to see…MOM…open my gift to her. It’s a total surprise and she’ll never guess it. It’s something she’s wanted for a long time.

2. I have had the same…BLANKIE for…EONS… NOW WHEN I VENTURE NEAR, IT RIPS JUST STANDING ON IT.  ONE COULD SPIT TREATS THROUGH IT.

Nellie We Miss You

Hey Shoko, I really miss Nellie. *sigh*  Me too Kali.  I don’t know about you Shoko but I want to go down and see her.  Our magic carpet is getting washed after all the anti-freeze we sprayed on it to keep it from freezing.  It’ll take awhile Kali.  Why can’t I use my new blankie that we got from our Secret Santa?  I’d like to go too but there’s no room on the blankie.

aakalismVroom…vroom, nothing’s happening.  You got to settle on the blanket and think positive thoughts of you flying on it.                                                           aablanketkalizmCan you see yourself flying on the carpet.  N -n- no.  Yes, yes….I’m flying!  Ok sis go with it.  MOL I’ve got…whooops…splat!  Shag my silvervine!                                                                      kalifallblankieWhat happened?  I was doing so well.  Let’s forget it for now Kali.  We’ll wait till the magic carpet is ready to go again.  I think maybe its a case of both of us powering it that makes the difference.

Speaking of power have you seen Elfin John?  He’s suppose to be back in his resting place.  Let’s go look.                                                            kalimouseNo sign of Elfin John here Shoko but I found the cutest mousey,  Geez we better find him Kali…he’s suppose to be sleeping.  Everything is quiet and has been for a week or so.  We’ll take a look throughout the house tomorrow…maybe he’s just hiding to scare us.

SHOKO…..BLACK

KALI…..ORANGE

Legend of the Mountain Ash

.

Did I ever tell you about the power of the Mountain Ash Tree?  I didn’t!  Well ,  grab a nip tea, pull up a blankie, listen and learn my friends.  Comfy, good.  How bout you Shoko?  What do you know about the Mountain Ash?  Not a heck of a lot Kali but mom said it was going to be a bad winter according to the Mountain Ash.  What about the Mountain Ash made her think it was going to be a bad winter?  The berries.  There are like tons of red berries on it.  I wonder how peeps found out the more berries on the Mountain Ash, the harder the winter?                                                                      There is an Objibwa legend that explains how the berries came to be in the Mountain Ash tree.

Before Canada had a name, a severe and terrible winter set in.  The temperatures plummeted to many degrees below freezing.  There were huge drifts of snow wherever one looked.

While in search of food Indian hunters became terrified when they came across hundreds of dead birds and small animals.  The Indians offered prayers to the Great Manitou.

The Great Spirit instructed them to take one drop of blood from each dead bird and small animal and smear it on the tree that meant life or death to their people.  The Mountain Ash was the tree the bows and arrows were made from so they smeared the blood on the Mountain Ash as instructed by Manitou.  The following morning the Mountain Ash bore thousands of berries.  The birds and small animals that had survived were perched on the branches eating the life giving food.

The Indians gave thanks to the Great Manitou who in turn promised that whenever a cold winter was approaching again, he would cover these trees with food.

What a tail you weave Kali, thanks for the info.

Kali Does a Sunday Selfie

Today is another Selfie Sunday Blog hop, put on by The Cat on my Head blog.

Kali promised I could have the catnip Easter blanket for the week if she could do the pictures this weekend. I agreed with this cause you just wouldn’t believe how out of this world the catnip blankie is my friend.

Thanks so much Ellen.

Thanks so much Ellen.

Now, Kali has been practicing most of the week but. alas, she is no better at snapping the pictures. She always looks a little odd in her pictures…like parts of her are really big….oh well she  tries but without success. I gotta give her “E” for effort.

Talk about in your face!

Our Easter Winnings Arrived The Other Day

We were so excited….we had won something.  Last year we won a book from The Cat on my Head and this year we entered a contest put on by 15 and Meowing.com and won.  We hurried mom along and she eventually tore the envelope open.

Look at the blankie and toys mom!  Woohoo…we needed a new blankie our old one fell apart.

Here is Kali enjoying the toys and me laying like a princess on the blankie.  Mom found where Ellen made a velcro opening to put catnip in and she put the nip she dried from last year.  Holy Cat!!  What a beautiful aroma.
