Kali, do you know that this is the day the Elf on the Shelf appears. Oh no, he’s a little psycho….I never know how to take him. What’s his name again? Elfin John! I heard rattling in mom’s nightie drawer, shall we take a peek? OK…let’s see if the strange little guy is awake. He’s waking up Shoko. Shall we close the drawer? No, he’d probably just kick until mom opened the drawer and then he’d leap out at her…scare the friggin’ stuffing out of her.Geez, how did he get on the bed so fast! Quick little weirdo aren’t you? What did you call me you, you…..beady eyed, candy cane legged freak! And so it begins…..Elfin John is loose in the house until Christmas.
This is also Selfie Sunday with The Cat on My Head so we are joining the line to get on her site. So come visit us and our anipals there with one click on the hosting blog. A joke for you my friends. What kind of bread do elves make sandwiches with? Why, shortbread of course.
Ellen from 15 and Meowing made the first two fill-ins while Ann of McGuffy’s Reader came up with the last two fill-ins. A big thank you to our co-hosts of the fill-ins.
1. The first thing I check when I go online is…..MY GAME AND THEN MY MAIL. MOM ALWAYS WANTS HER CUPPA TEA FIRST BUT I WANT TO PLAY CRIMINAL CASE AND THEN SEE WHO WROTE TO KALI AND I.
2. My signature dish is …..FANCY FEAST BEEF FLAVOUR. I LOVE IT. KALI IS MORE OF AN ANYTHING GOES GIRL WHEN IT COMES TO FOOD.3. My Halloween night is usually…..SPENT PLAYING CWAPS WITH KALI UNDER THE BED. 4. Trick or treaters …..ARE LOUD. RING THE DOORBELL MANY TIMES, YELL AT MOM AND THEN, YOU KNOW, SHE GIVES THEM CANDY! SHE WOULDN’T GIVE US TREATS IF WE DID THESE THINGS. THESE TRICK OR TREATERS DRESS FUNNY TOO…..SCARY LOOKING OR SOMETIMES PRINCESS’S. IT’S LIKE A STORY COME TO LIFE, ALL NIGHT LONG.
I got a joke for you. What do you get when you cross Bambi with a ghost?
Mom had minor surgery today on her baby finger. When the orthopedic surgeon put the replacement joint in her baby finger, 5 years ago, he had already fused the joint. Mom could never understand why he did this but so be it. After living with this misplaced joint, she discovered writing was more difficult because the joint rubbed, was a nuisance and with repeated use, hurt. Also with this rubbing, the joint area turned black.
Mom will tell you what happened in her own words…take it away mom Thanks Kali.
I went to the hospital a little earlier than our appointment and the doctor took me early. Let me tell you about this procedure while it’s still fresh in my mind. I went into this room called Minor Surgery #2. The nurse asked my address, phone # and where I lived…just to make sure I had all my marbles before the procedure started, I guess. I managed to get all the answers right, so we carried on. Dr P came in and explained….very roughly, what he was going to do to my finger. It sounded ghastly so I tuned him out, and only caught the odd word. Humming *California Dreamin’* in my head, I got on the table with a bit of assistance from the nurse. Delighted my own bed was so much more comfy. I didn’t like lying flat, so had them adjust my bed. I must admit my tummy sure disappeared though. Once a bit more comfortable we carried on. My hand was cleaned with some antiseptic stuff that ran down my arm and was freezing cold. I mentioned that antiseptic was running down my arm and the Dr. said they’d get it….they forgot all about it. Onward….we went with three huge needles to my finger area. One shot between the ring and baby finger, right at the web part. The next shot was on the finger near the joint. The final shot was on the side of my palm. These areas are tender as a baby’s butt. The final touch was the tourniquet on my upper arm. The tourniquet was so very tight, it was a hurtin’ something fierce. Perhaps this was to take my attention away from the finger. A bloodless operation. I liked the sound of that. I was told the tourniquet was just for a *few minutes*. The doctor worked, the nurse restocked the bandage cabinet and I lay on the steel bed counting the dents in the ceiling. The next thing that happened was the Dr. asking for an instrument from the nurse who seemed to have left. The doctor was getting agitated and ended up shouting for her in the corridor. I swear only in Prince George would this happen. Shortly, the nurse came rushing in the room after telling us she took some garbage to the trash room. I hope she washed her hands. I got back to counting the multitude of dents in the ceiling as all was in order once again. Dr P declared he was putting the stitches in and then I’d be free to go. My, I deserved a fun food for going through this crap. But what, chocolate covered raisins, chocolate bark( big slab of chocolate) or pumpkin cookies. Decisions, decisions! Dr, P finished up and the very last thing the nurse did was to loosen the tourniquet. My hand was red, red….not like a beet but a close runner-up. Eek…no feeling either.Woohoo…I was out of the surgery room by noon PDT.It wasn’t fun but it’s done except for the stitches coming out. I got a prescription for t’3’s as these are my preferred pain killers Yes, I’ve delved into the world of pain-killers and have favourites. After a trip to the grocery store for a few goodies, mom was home. She looked fine especially for one of the walking wounded. Time to take us for a walk and stroll….off we went up the Lane.
Git away from me, mom. I don’t want to ride in that box on wheels! Kali doesn’t look very interested either. What are you doing….throwing Island Paradise into the box? You can get them Kali. I have a feeling mom is going to trap one of us in there.
Ok, get out now Kali…run like the wind. You’re too late…mom’s moving the box. Whoa, Kali is refusing to sit down! She does not look happy.
Are you ok Kali? I don’t like this a bit Shoko. There are nice comfy blankies here but I don’t like the movement. Let me out! Mom’s heading for the bed so you can jump off. Geez if Kali doesn’t like it……I gotta wonder!Waiting for it to seem strange …..nothing’s happening. Kali, this is kinda fun. I don’t have to walk, I’m just rollin’ along and its comfy. Oh, it looks interesting over this way mom. C’mom step on the gas…I wanna see what’s happening. Well, paint me yellow and call me a cab, I really enjoyed the spin around the inside of the house. No fuss, just a sweet ride with blankies that feel so comfy on my tush. I must rethink the idea that pet strollers are bad.
Mom decided we better go look for Bashful again because its going to freeze overnight and even though Sky’s sis is used to this kind of weather, Bashful is not. So off mom and I went to examine more of the Lane.
We looked into the car man’s junky vehicles.
No sign of them. Nothing! We then headed over to the house that’s falling apart.
I think they’re over here mom! I see some wiggle marks. I’ll go onto the property here at the falling apart house. There they are….in the long grass by the tree! Be careful mom, you don’t want to step on them. Let me go and tell them we’re here. Mom nods to me.
Hi Bashful. How about if mom gives both of you a ride home in her hand. Mom, let’s see your hand….Bashful and his friend would like a ride home. Mom puts her hand down, Bashful and his lady friend hop on. Stop mom, let me look. My, my…..she is quite the looker. I’ll bet the boy rocks are beating a path to her door.
Sis, I’m so happy to see you again. I thought maybe you were lost for good. I was so scared. You look so cold sis. Would you like some oregano to get warm. Yes, these peeps have oregano. I know, we’re really lucky.
*yawn* You must be even sleepier than I am sis. Let’s go to bed and snuggle.I can’t wake these two just to find out the name of the bigger one. Don’t you know Bashful? You were with her for a few days. She never said her name. I guess we’ll just have to wait until they wake up.
Kali, did I tell everyone about Flat Shoko that Dad made up for Cat Scouts? I don’t think so Shoko. Well butter my butt and slide me to the Catnip! Sit down my friends have some nip and I’ll tell ya all about it.
Cat Scouts are giving scouts the opportunity to go visit their friends in Cat Scouts via a flat cat. Well dad made a flat cat of me. She’s a big sucker too! I call her FOKO. Foko
We mailed Foko at the beginning of August out to DezizWorld in Oklahoma. Dezi did a post about her visitors. Click on DeziWorld for the First part and Part 2 for the second half of the visit. Shoko’s flat cat boyfriend Finstein scame for a visit with brofur Fimmy. Dezi’s mom made sure there was no look of hanky panky between Foko and Finstein. Finstein slept at the head of the bed and Foko at the bottom. We had tons of fun. Mango from Cat Scouts also popped in for a visit.
Dezi is going to tell Foko a secret. Foko says Dezi is not real quiet but has such a fantastic southern accent that Foko was mesmerized. Lexi, Dezi’s sis, sat back and let Dezi enjoy her friends. What a kind sister.
Dezi’s mom mailed us out to Finstein and Fimmy’s dad and we arrived last Wednesday. What a houseful in Finstein’s family! I never saw so many cats all in one place. I especially liked chatting with Miss Fitz. We had lots of girlie talk and giggles. Go take a look at Tomcat Commentary by Tim…just click on the name.
Foko and Einstein taking a rest
Miss Fitz was so happy to have another female to talk with that she spilled the beans about most of the family’s secrets. MOL Way to go Miss Fitz.
Secrets with Miss Fitz
Finstein’s family lives in Pennsylvania. Fimmy and Finstein’s dad mailed Foko, Finstein and Fimmy up to Canada. So they should be arriving in another 4 or 5 days. We are expecting a couple of others from Cat Scouts too. Woohoo…lotsa visitors. Kali will be delighted. Too bad Miss Fitz isn’t a flat. Kali would love her, I just know those two would get along like a house on fire. MOL, Miss Fitz, what a name! I like her already.
For those of you that have not noticed my new header and for those of you that thought, “Egads, that’s a dark and dingy picture”. Well here’s the scoop. This is a picture of the Ice Castle in Dr. Zhivago. The superb actor, Omar Shariff passed away two weeks ago and this is our way of honouring him.
I’m looking after the post today. Yes, Shoko let her big sis take charge for a change. Shoko is busy patrolling around the perimeter of the property….on the fence. I don’t know what she’ll do if she spots trouble…bravery is not her thing. She sees herself as this meezer: Everybody else see’s her this way:
I have been having problems getting on and off the bed. The worst part of it was jumping onto the floor after a nice snooze. My elbow and paws have arthritis. I find the arthritis meds too hard on my stomach and I can’t hold them down. Mom asked dad if he could make something that could help me out. Shoko suggested a trampoline to dad. She said it would be easy on my paws cause the rubber would give. Mom and dad didn’t have to worry, she would watch me as I got off the bed. Actually, she said it would be a hoot watching me go up to the ceiling and down again.
Dad didn’t like this idea and thought it was very unsafe. Dad decided to make stairs for me. They are so cool! Just look at these stairs.
Here I am modelling the stairs…I think they look better with me on them.
Oh mom! This is a horrible picture! I look all butt and hips. Please my friends disregard this pic…..I’m not this fat looking. I know I’ve gained a wee bit but.. Here I sit on the top stair…dad made it big enough for me to sit and relax or scratch at the carpeting. I’m not fond of the type of carpeting on the condo….scratch wise that is but I really like the carpet dad put on the stairs.
