Cwap!! When is this cold going away? I’m so bored. There is nothing to do. Mom’s busy and hasn’t finished the tree yet…I guess I could help her. A feral is staying in the house dad built. He only comes around 4am and disappears before mom and dad get up. Mom and dad got a heated water bowl for him, kibble and are using Kali’s heating pad under the blanket to keep him warm. See the ice forming around the top of the bowl? There is steam coming from the middle of the bowl Mom put her finger in the water to see if it was too hot but it was cold, cold just warmer than the air.
Get away from me Shoko….I don’t want to play fight. My nails are drying so think of something else to do. Isn’t the Flamin’ Tiger color awesome. Look at the plastic totes around the living room. Mom could use some sorting of the ornaments. Good idea…where do I begin….so much to do. Hey, I could bat these ornaments all over the living room. Perhaps a game of hockey is due. MOL Nobody lookin’?
Here is my presentation for Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. Come join us or just pop by for a peek at our friends. Mom zoomed in and cropped my picture down and then added Lunapic Effects of Storytelling. At least you can still tell its me.
You know whose coming for a visit Shoko? Who, Mrs. Claus is running away from home? It’s Sammy of One Spoiled Cat. He is flying around the world and will be stopping here for a visit. When? He’s here Shoko. Sammy!! You look refreshed. The cold air rushing by your ears must sound like an ocean but feeling it on your furry face would be awesome. Sammy welcome to our house, have some dried nip from the garden. Mom mixed it with silvervine. It’s a trip without a balloon, MOL Your operating the Hot Air Balloon so need all your faculties about you. OK….just let me get a sniff and we’ll look about Prince George.
Look….Even Cow Kitty came to see you off, You are an icon around here Sammy. We talk of you often and always yell, “SAMMY” before we eat any bacon we get. Bye Shoko and Sammy, have a great time. Quit yakking at Sammy and let them take off, Cow Kitty.
Up, up and away we go. There’s a moose for you. It’s a female that probably lives among the trees going up to UNBC. UNBC is the University of Northern British Columbia. maybe we’ll fly over it. This is the Fraser River, where mom would walk Kali when they lived in the other house. They walked along the beach beside the river. Mom saw 2 beavers swimming about a foot and a half from Kali. Kali was busy getting a drink and didn’t notice them. A typical Kali move. This park is Ft. George Park.
I know it’s really cold tonight Sammy. The weatherman said -30C. A wee bit nippy ole pal. This is UNBC, Sammy. Our pride and joy. Do you see the yellow trees. These are pines that were killed when the north was inundated with Pine Beetles a few years back. What a loss.
See down there and to your left is downtown Prince George. I was born on the streets of Prince George. I think that’s why loud peeps don’t turn my crank now. You can see in the background the pulp mills. Prince George was known for its pulp mills at one time. The mills had many workers and was the major industry here. The town stunk of sulphur which is used in the process. It was a horrible smell mom said but the townsfolk said it was the, *smell of money.* Isn’t this a beautiful mountain and just on the outskirts of town.
Oh look Sammy it’s the Northern Lights. When we get away from the downtown area we get to see them but only when the sky is clear. Sammy, you’re looking rather cold. Let’s go back home and you can get warmed up before you are off to the next town to visit. We love ya Sammy and Kali wants to kiss you for just being you. I’m not the mushy sort like Kali but you mean the world to me Sammy. I am delighted you came to visit our frozen neck of the woods.
Wednesday Canada turned 148. That’s almost 149. This reminds mom of the ad for Woodward’s. ♫$1.49 day , Woodward’s. $1.49 day, Tuesday.♫ Now, only those in Western Canada will know what mom’s talking about, like Nellie from The Cats from Hell’s mom. This little jingle came out in April of1958 and was very popular. Look at the shoppers on this $1.49 day. Notice the housewives going for a bargain.
Canada Day was very hot here and us northern cats and peeps are not used to hot weather for any length of time. So we really suffer. Give us ice, snow and freezing rain….these we don’t like but can handle. So Kali and I flopped around sighing.
Mom and dad took off for the big park here in Prince George. It was Fort George Park but now is Memorial Park because some ancient bones of aboriginals have been discovered in the park….in various locations. Making the park a native burial resting ground and thus sacred for all natives.
Both mom and dad are extremely interested in other cultures and want to participate. They got a chance to get Turbans made for them by Sikhs at the park. Making up these turbans is quite the effort. However, the Sikh men and women doing the work were fast and so polite and nice. Mom didn’t realize there were different styles of turbans but she noticed at least 4 different styles right there at the booth.
The turbans in the park were gathered and neatly wrapped around the head in several layers. This was done for free by the Sikhs. In order to show their lifestyle. Mom and dad were told that while they wore the turban, they could not use profanity, drink or smoke and not eat meat. Obviously words they live by.
A sign on the tent of the Sikhs at the park: “Keep calm and put your turban on.” Words to live by.
Shoko and I discussed Artsy Day and Selfie Sunday and I got Artsy Fartsy Day blog hop. So here is the link to Athena and Marie at their blog hop. I am submitting me with my orange turban as art.
