We are joining Happy Tuesday at Comedy Plus for Tyebe Tuesday. Go visit Sandee and click on some very interesting blogs.
What are you two watching?
Oh, the kids are back.
You see that little girl, Shoko and Budd. She’s racing around like her hairs on fire. MOL….what a character. She sure is enjoying recess.
Mom was saying that Canadian schools no longer teach the art of writing. She was quite upset. Instead of writing one’s name, they will just print their name. So much for the sayings about signatures…..”Put your John Hancock here.” Writing is individual to people and the traits writing discloses are an art. Budd and Tyebe look at each other with a puzzled expression. Printing can be analyzed too, Shoko. What’s writing? We don’t do either so why should we care? You should care because its something you won’t ever see folks doing once the old-timers,like mom and dad are gone. We don’t care Shoko….we won’t be here either and neither will you. It will be history and peeps will read about it just like drawings from cavemen. I dont think mom would like you comparing her to a caveman. Kitten Kustard! you can’t tell these yung uns anything.
Budd, look at those kids move.
I’m getting sleepy Budd. The condo beside mom’s desk is calling me for a relaxing nap.
we love that kind of cat wisdom… and after pondering about that we think you are totally right!

hehe..It makes sense…if a kit fluffs her fur, washes, bats those eyelasjes and manicures those nails while turning on her purring machine, no one could resist her and she would never want fr food.

Living with my 9 yr old grandboy (and loving it) I, too, have stressed over “no handwriting” … there is no beauty, no personal touch in just printing! Another loss. Agreeing with all you say.
It is sad to see it fall to the wayside, is an art form …

One day college students will study handwriting in an archeology class.

Great photos today gang ! Fun to watch kids play isn’t it. Sorry to hear that schools aren’t going to be teaching writing/cursive any more…..that’s a shame. Things sure have changed since my Mom was in school but then that was back when dinosaurs roamed the earth! HAHAHA

Kids can be so fun to watch … but also so tiring to watch! I agree about learning cursive. I couldn’t wait to learn it – so in 1st grade I spent my entire winter break learning how to write cursive because I didn’t want to wait until 2nd grade when they taught it. Letter writing is so uncommon these days. So many people text or e-mail. I think a lot is lost because of that.

So very true. Writing or being able to, was the sigm you were a grown up and I couldnt wait to be a grown up.

They don’t teach spelling either – thanks to Twitter, Instagram and other social media. Sad.
At least, that’s what Mummy says. We wouldn’t know. Cats don’t have to go to school (mol).
PS. We love your photos.

Handwriting is going to become a lost art. Although mom prints now. The swirls rtc. of handwriting are beautiful but very difficult when the wrist is beginning to fuse.

The changes they are making today will have dire consequences in the years to come that many shortsighted will rue but have no recourse for. The dumbing of the world has been in full swing for too long and is sad.
Love your photos my friends and Shoko a beautiful meezer will always be invited to a fine meal at our table

Oh my!! Thank you so much, Timmy and Einey’s dad. What are you having? mol
The dumbing of schools has been happening for a long time. When they started having field races with no winners….the schools shot down in my estimation. In the real world, there are winners and losers. If you work hard…you will slowly become a winner but if there is no reason to work hard….where is the incentive,

Ridiculous really…I can see why in a way…not enough school time to teach handwriting, printing makes anything easy to read, but I feel it’s integral to the art of communication, the individuality of the way in which you yield a pen! 😺xxx

Yes, writing is personal and very much individualistic.

Maybe at least they should try to teach a class for that as an extra curricular activity. Petcretary uses much cursive…both written and spoken…(oops, we were not supposed to say that…), It bothers her when some of her co workers cannot read it, and it truly is much better than some doctors’ penmanship….that she had to decipher back in the day.
They were still teaching that when our unfurbros went to school, but well, they did not go to a public school, and the challenges to the students were good for both brains and bodies. They need to teach critical thinking too. So many jobs require that…and so many young peeps are not having any to use, let alone common sense. Then once in a while you meet one, Hooray! Sometimes they come from families that do home schooling, which is popular around here, for many reasons.

I can’t see a student going in after school to learn to write. I wouldn’t have….too many fun things to do. I would now but I’m rather a bit older and my priorities are different. Common sense is not so common these days.

Mom is disappointed, too, to hear that they are not teaching “cursive” (whatever that is) in schools. She says when she was little, kids learned how to write using thick pencils. I purrsonally think that they should teach kids how to handle, and care for anipals, so that more humans grow up to understand the needs of pussycats.
