Shopping Around The World for Sandwiches

Bacon of Piglove is hosting Shopping Around The World today.  Sandwiches are what he wants recipes for this month.

I’m not keen on a sandwich, myself.  The bread makes my ankles swell.  Very unattractive!
However, mom loves sandwiches so I will don my hat and bib…I mean apron and we will begin the sandwich.

Looks like my apron’s in the wash…I will have to be ever so careful or I’ll be bathing all evening.

The sandwich we are making is a Toasted Mushroom and Bacon Sandwich

Mushrooms: two                                                 $0.23 each.
Bacon: two strips
$3.98 for 500 grams or 1 pound
Mayo: spread evenly on one side of bread                                             $4.27 for 890 ml (31 ounces)
Salt and Pepper: sitting in your cupboard with the butter

$1.97 for 675 grams (1.4 pounds)

These ingredients are to build one sandwich.

First, you must fry your bacon so it is nice and crispy. After frying the bacon, cut your mushrooms into slices and fry them.
Meanwhile get the old toaster out and toast 2 pieces of bread. When the toaster pops with your bread nice and golden brown, butter one side of each piece of bread. Then put your mayo on one side of the buttered bread. Your two mushrooms go on next and finally the 2 pieces of bacon broken in half.

Your sandwich is ready.

I love it!!! all things with hellman’s are good, right? maybe not for the suzie quattro memorial pants butt for our tummy and for our soul (sadly the soul is not the only thing what grows if we love mayo teehee)

haha Notice mom is using low fat with olive oil mayo but if one slathers the mayo on, one will grow, sideways. Bacon did not approve of the meat we used but we explained no relatives were hurt….this was from Canada.

This sounds WONDERFUL – you girls know how we feel about bacon around here but fried mushrooms are another thing that my Mom ADORES (almost as much as she adores me). This is a good combo! Thanks for the idea! Happy Friday….

The kitties are adorable. I linked this post to Feline Friday.

I also ate that great looking sandwich. One of my favorite sandwiches.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and a great weekend. ♥

I can’t imagine that your friend, “Bacon” much approved of this sandwich. Maybe peanut butter would have made him happier, but I do agree, it sounds yummy. Add a tomatoe and it sounds even better.

yum a mushroom bacon sammich – sounds really goods. Mom will probably add avocado although not good fur kitties. Her likes avocado cause it reduces pain and inflammation and tastes good… to mom at least. -Katie Kitty Too

Kali, you look so cute in your chef’s hat. That sandwich looks fantastic! I have never thought to have bacon and mushrooms together- I love them both 🙂 XO

N, no Canadian bacon… likers the fatty stuff better. She says it tastes better. Ya, if you have big bread, fill it up with mushrooms and bacon. Mom uses little tiny weight watchers bread and it only holds 2 mushrooms and 2 bacon. If you make the samwich, you’ll see what I mean.

My mommy agrees about using small pieces of bread. The key to weight control is smaller portions. If she buys a great big deli sandwich like a Reuben sandwich she eats 1/2 and saves the rest for later. She gets two delishus meals and doesn’t get uncomfortably full at either Just satisfied. We think a thin slice of Swiss cheese would be great to hold it all together and then you don’t need the mayo.
