Blogger Recognition Award…Thank you DeziWorld!

Oh! Shoko’s going to be upset she missed this one.  She loves awards and thinks they’re hers…just hers.  Well, this award is for all of us…even mom.

Dezi and Raena from Deziworld gave us this awesome award and we thank you very much for your thoughtfulness.

Isn’t the wreath lovely!  Wish I could wear it like my Lei.                                                   We started blogging back in the fall of 2014.  Shoko had started in Cat Scouts and was having a great time with her new-found buddies.  Mom was reading blogs to us one day and she muttered out loud that we could do a blog too.  Well, it wasn’t as easy as mom thought but dad helped establish her with the blog  Then she was afraid to use it.  What if nobody ever came to see her posts? How embarrassing.  She threw caution to the wind and actually published a post.  Then she wasn’t sure if she should look and see if anyone stopped by.  One day she broke down and looked.  She was in seventh heaven, three peeps had looked at her post.  Woo hoo…the big time!  Mom didn’t blog again for three months.  She didn’t think she could do as well.

KALI…..ORANGE
MOM…..RED VIOLET

The best suggestion I have for beginners is to focus on something you never seem to tire of.  If you do this then the posts will never be a chore but fun and part of your personality and also enjoyable for others to read.

The next suggestion I have is to do and say what YOU want to say not what others think you should talk about.  It is your blog to do your thing not be another voice for someone else or their cause.  Be true to you.

Our final step is to choose 15 bloggers we think deserve this award.  Well, there are so many more than 15 bloggers that deserve this award that I will only choose 3 to name and the others are more than welcome to grab the badge and call it their own.  You all have worked to develop the blog and then spent many hours honing the skills needed to develop interesting posts.  In our eyes, you’re all winners!

2/  TWOCATSVIEWS:  Life as seen by Hemingway and Steinbeck.
These two little terrors are cats and we view life from their perspective which can be both humorous and touching. Stop by and give them a peek.  Say Kali sent you and maybe some nip will show up.

3/ Hairballs and Hissyfits   is a cat blog which tells the cat’s activities from their own eyes.  A cheerful and happy blog.  Do take a peek at these charming kitties.

There you have it, friends.

See ya when Shoko returns with her Cat Scout stories.

I I started the blog in 2012, almost three years after we adopted Chris. Blog post from the first 6 months or so cover many early stories about how I met Chris and the problems we had after adopting him. I compressed those stories into a Kindle book called “Bad Cat Chris” if you are interested.

Fantastic Charles…I will download it when I get off…we’re looking for a new book to read. Every night I read to the cats and hubby. We all seem to have a great time. Thank you.

Shoko and Kali are so sweet in your header photo! Anyway, they “won” in the sense that they bring us in, and I, among others, feel a better recognition would be for this blog to be inundated with a few hundred (or thousand!!) more follows. It’s one of my top favorite places to stop!

I’d add one other suggestion to yours above: post at regular intervals. Daily is sometimes difficult to achieve, but is a worthwhile goal. Regardless, a regular posting schedule assures readers know when to expect updates. One of my top favorites, for example, is Salmon Brook Farms, and it comes out only once a month, but I know I can expect it monthly.

I personally dislike blogs that post too often, like five or more times a day, though many times people who post photos almost exclusively do this, and there are several truly excellent blogs that post multiple times a day I still follow.

Another thing that should be considered when blogging is length. Most of us have so much time to spend on the Internet, and exceptionally long posts may exceed a length most people have to spend with your post. I sometimes go long if the topic is exceptionally interesting, like the time I posted the story of how my friend took her three cats to Paris, but I try to keep my longer posts photo-rich to break up the text.

Thank you for the excellent suggestions Doug. I must follow a pattern for posts….I know this would be better and peeps would know when to expect me. I agree with your suggestions…all of them.

YES!! We wish the same thing. It would totally be awesome. Just imagine the trouble you all could get into together – snorts and rolls with piggy laughter. XOXO – Bacon

It was a hairy time…we were just hanging out in the internet breeze or so mom thought….she was such a nervous peep everytime she thought about her post….she was easier to live with when we did something else. Thank goodness she got over it!
