Remember my veggie garden when Nellie and I planted it…you too mom! After everything was planted it looked like this:
You can’t even see the hills mom made.
Today the garden is slowly coming along. It’s been cold and windy here.
This picture has Shoko playing Peek a Boo in the brussel Sprouts. This was 2 weeks after everything was planted. Not much change as the brussel Sprouts, corn and cauliflower were transplants. The potatoes are coming up though.
Almost a month later this is the veggie garden.
The only thing that seems to be doing awesome is the potatoes. We need some heat or everything will remain small.
I send you all our heat… and hey it worked it’s foggy outside today… and now you will get pawtatoes as big as melons, I bet (and not such small marbles the mama bought in our store as “big” pawtatoes for da fish cake hehehe)
LikeLike
Oh wow…pawtatos the size of melons. They would be very hard to peel. MOL Mom would only need 1 pawtato for the fish cakes.

Wish we could send you some of OUR heat Shoko……..it’s been in the mid-90s and it’s either like THAT or raining so hard you can’t see out the windows! We don’t have a “medium” weather….guess that won’t be happening now that it’s summer. Maybe it’s OK if you don’t have a HUGE garden this year – less for your Mom to take care of!!!!!!

You lucky furry….we need warmth. It is suppose to go up to 25C (77F) for the weekend. That would be so nice. We can all sit outside and soak up the sun….right, mom doesn’t sit for long but Kali and I do. MOL

I tell you what, you can have any of my heat that gets over 22c as that is fine for us. Your veg patch looks really good. Over here we had too little rain for the potatoes rather than too little sun. Maybe we could exchange some of each?

Great idea ERin. You do need rain. Not enough to start your own creek though but enough to get the pawts to have a cool drink. You’ll end up with tiny pawts like in the stores if water is not found.

We hope so Jean. There are patches with nothing growing….the sun obviously does a lot. Wish I could share the corn on the cob with you Jean.

Your plants are growing, for sure there will be warm days, too. I just can’t send you warm weather, but when you need rain, I will be ready to blow all our clouds just above your garden. Soon I have to start to build Noah’s arch, if it is still rainig every day.

Sounds like you are in the same arc as us Kosmo and Pippin. This wind is mighty cold and the trees are all bent. Gotta feel sorry for the squirrels. Let’s hope summer weather picks up or this summer will be a wash out. MOL

Guys your veg garden is fab, and your plants look amazing, mew must post more pics as effurything starts to grow. We’ve only got runner beans and peas growing this year, and the peas won’t make it into the kitchen knowing what the P.A. is like, she’ll be picking them and eating [scoffing them] straight away!!! MOL
Big hugs

Hi Basil…mom says eating peas right off the vine is the best way to go as they are so tasty that way. Dad just strung up our peas and beans. The plants are so tiny. Gotta admit the garden is still a great place to roll about…..no plants to bother me. MOL

We’ve got the heat, but don’t know how to send it to you. Our problem is that it is so hot we can’t grow things that like it cool.

We don’t have a way to bottle it either. We would gladly send some cool but the cool won’t get in the bottle. MOL

We don’t have any veggies planted, but just put in some native Michigan plants that should take care of themselves, under the shade of the maple trees.

This is a great idea. No fuss no muss, just native plants. The city of Prince George did that at the Gateway to the city. It was a bust…..they all looked like weeds that were 3 feet high. Nobody liked them at all. This year will be different, its so cold not even native plants want much to do with this weather.

At least you have a veggie garden, though. Mom hasn’t planted one in a few years. She kinda gave up and decided she was better at flower gardening. I would love to roll in the garden soil! I bet that itches just the right spot! Tee Hee Hee!

It does scratch in just the right places. The soil makes my fur all soft too but it is dirty and dusty.

We hope so too. A nice thing to grow but we don’t have a long enough season is sweet potatoes. I’ve heard of peeps growing them for the vine but not for the pot. New potatoes are delicious. Mom likes the wee ones…they are so good…she says anywho.

The nip is in with the cucumbers, squash and zukes in a different part of the garden. The nip is up about a foot and a half. We need sun and then everything will shoot up.
