KALI……ORANGE Mom and dad were up early to catch the train headed north. They caught the bus to King’s Cross Station.
We thank Mr. Goggle for the use of this image.Aha….I smell a challenge! Looks like a long walk to get inside. You can do it mom.
The inside seemed much more like spaces mom and dad were used to as the waiting rooms were huge. St Pancras was bigger but the areas tended to be divided up more… just sayin’.
Hey, this is where they filmed the scene as Harry Potter goes through the pillar at Platform 9 3/4 to catch the Hogwarts Express.
For those of you not familiar with Harry Potter please click on his name and you’ll get a brief history of him.
Woo hoo, mom had to try this one.
Looks like it didn’t work…take another run at the pillar mom. MOL
The train arrived at just the right time. It is a shiny one. We like shiny things.
They each had a, “Ticket to ride.” MOL
Arriving 3 hours later at Norgate. A lovely town with hardly a car on the roads…they sure weren’t in London anymore. Who offered them a ride but Bionic Basil’s PA and dad. Cathrine and Josh took us to view a beautiful old church called Southwell Minister. Bionic Basil’s post of Shoko and my meeting was reblogged on The Canadian Cats.
Cathrine and mom posing for pictures. Josh is in the background.
We all headed over to see Basil and the Heathen Horde. Well, Basil was waiting for us to come through the door. I can just hear Basil saying, “What took you so long to get here?” MOL
Here is more of the horde. They were very interested in what mom and dad were doing here.
Mom will always thank Cathrine and Josh for the Yorkshire Gold tea they found for mom.
Before they knew it, the time came for mom and dad to get back on the train.
One last look at Basil’s backyard where he and the horde play their war games.
Mom and dad were off to London on the train.
They had one place to go in the evening and it was to the theatre to see The Mousetrap. No mice were injured in the play. This play has been running since the 1950’s. They changed theatre’s in the 70’s, moving to St. Martin’s Theatre. The cast has changed but the play keeps going. Mom and dad were mesmerized by the actors and thoroughly enjoyed the play. This was mom and dad’s last night in London. Tomorrow they fly to Vancouver, British Columbia for another fun visit.
Have a fun Caturday
I didn’t realise you were so close!!! Southwell is literally only about an hour on the bus!!
I do think you have to have magical blood to make it through to the Hogwarts platform…great photo Jean! Again, how lovely to meet blogging friends in person and I shall definitely go and check out Basil’s blog. Pleased you got to go to the theatre – Agatha Christie stayed in a hotel near my old school when she disappeared..
Another great post, thoroughly enjoying sharing your travel adventures! 😺💕xxx

We were that close? Holy! Well, at least we had a great chatter on the phone. Another fun day. We saw so much but we didn’t go into the Tower of London or Buckingham Palace. Just saw things from the outside on our way to somewhere else. I was amazed there was an MI 5 and n MI 6. I thought there was only one. Really, Agatha Christie was staying in a hotel near your old school? I wonder what happened to her?

As far as I remember, she had a bit of a mental meltdown and just needed a break..maybe she just really liked the hotel! (It was lovely, real old fashioned grandeur ) Buckingham Palace is outrageously expensive, so I’ve heard and there’s always next time. And the jewels in the Tower are all fakes..! 🙂 xx

Fakes in The Tower….I didn’t know that. Glad I didn’t steal them or even show up…just for fakes. hehe

Lol..apparently they’ve been fakes for years…although they’re still worth a bit! 👑👑👑

oh how great that they saw the stage play and how great that they met that blogging friends! I know why the run through the pillar didn’t work… the hogwarts rules say you have to bring an owl a toad or a cat… and because you had to stay at home it didn’t work… ;O))))

So mom needed us to get through the pillar….egads Shoko and I would be scared stiff. It’s a big deal for us to go to the vet, never mind across the big pond. Mom has no magical talent either. That could be a problem too. haha
Hugs,
Jean

What a great day you had to visit the Horde and Basil’s humans! They sure have a great yard to play in don’t they? You saw one of my Mom’s favorite plays too – she’s seen Mousetrap several times in the 87 million years she’s been around. What a wonderful time you had across the pond but in the end, there’s just no place like home is there…….

I confess I would have tried that at Platform 9 myself! I guess some of us live in a fantasy world where many things are possible…aren’t they? Nice account of the visit, too, Kali. Too bad you and Shoko couldn’t go along, too, because your mom and dad have met several really nice kitties and woofies while over there.
(I know the details of taking cats and dogs abroad are daunting. My friend Deborah took her three cats to Paris a few years back, and it was nightmare after nightmare. When they finally got out of their cages in our other friend’s fifth story apartment, they were ready for water and a nice French cat food repast! On the other hand, bars and restaurants in France let cats come in, too, so the kitties enjoyed the Paris scene along with my friend!)

I remember when Deborah was over in Paris with her three cats. Didn’t know cats were also allowed in the restaurants. great! How many cats will want to go to a loud noisy restaurant? Not us but a fine first class establishment…yes…we’re game for that. MOL

Sounds like you are in England my friend. It does have to rain to keep up those beautiful shades of green. Mom and dad were lucky and had such a jolly time I don’t think the rain would have bothered them.
