It’s time for The Cat on my Head’s Sunday Selfie. Come join us at posing or just come at peek at us on The Cat On My Head.
Shoko and I mewed it over and she said I could pose for this Sunday’s selfie. She seems to be awfully giving for Shoko. Hope she feels ok.
I took this selfie while helping mom decorate the tree. I didn’t like how the ornament was hanging and was trying to get her to understand.
No mom over to the right. Not on the same branch as the reindeer, further over. Oh to have thumbs! There…too far…you got it…leave it…..step away from the tree mom.
We have had unusually freezing weather for two weeks now and problems are starting to happen. The Nechako River has started to freeze in parts and form a barrier causing the river to flow its banks. Fortunately, the river is only flowing through a favourite hiking park, Cottonwood Park. As of today peeps houses are safe but emergency measures have been implemented.
This park is where mom discovered the joys of white cranberries. She picked a bucket of them, (they are teeny), brought them home and made cranberry sauce. She insisted that dad and her eat the cranberry sauce in spite of it needing a load of sweetness. None was added…just a touch. Dad kept declining any chicken if it came with the premature cranberries. I think dad had a party when they were finally gone. MOL
Have a great day and try Flamin’ Tiger nail polish….. it brings out the wild cat in you.
You’re a great helper, Kali! And with beauty and grace too. Us humans always struggle with leaving well enough alone 🙂

Oh my…thank you so much. I try and maintain myself for my boyfriend Buddy. Shoko is so uncouth though. I have never seen her polish her nails or even get a comb and comb her furs. She is so fun loving it’s ridiculous.

Lovely photo-you felines have such refined artistic sensibilities, I always appreciate it when my cats move things on the tree…open presents to check I’ve wrapped them properly…chew up the cards…

These things must be done. Someone must bat the ornaments to make sure they are on tight enough. Who else would fish through a Christmas bag to see if the toys wee in tip top shape.

Oh my that flooding does sound serious! Closest we came to that was when the moat flooded. Still, gave the driveway a wash down! Glad to see you have a good eye for decorating, seems like all peeps just haven’t got what it takes, and put all the baubles on the highest branches and not down low for playing with! Have a good week. purrs ERin

Glad we’re nowhere near the flooding…it’s on the other side of town. Mom has no clue. She does put the soft ornaments near the bottom of the tree now,

Stay safe in all that cold air and runaway water. Mother Nature needs to step up her game over there and fix it.

Mother Nature could use a swift kick about now. I hear the weather will warm up to +1 by Wednesday and then the ice on the river will melt. Yahoo!

Hi Kali, you are a good helper to your mom. You have had really cold, that river thing is bad, it is danderous! Don’t go there! We all here wish you a lovely Sunday and try to send warm weather to you with the hair dryer shooting to the west.

White cranberries? I’ve never heard of them, but we all love cranberry sauce.
I hope your climate gets back to normal, but suspect that we are heading into a new cold cycle (have always thought the ones howling about global warming were watching the wrong things).

I would rather be warmer than colder…..even I’m getting stiff from the cold and I don’t have arthritis.

I have arthritis in my lower back, but get around better when it is cooler – apparently this is due to reduced inflammation. Kiara says she suffers from arthritis in her back, too, but heating pads are her salvation. If you do better with heat, have you used a heating pad?

I have advanced RA all over my body and it likes cold but only SO cold, not this cold. Also have osteo and it likes warmth so I play around with the ice pack and barley pack..

A friend of mine has RA and swears that 1 tablespoon of organic apple vinegar each morning then 1 glass of water prior to breakfast helps a lot. Since starting that regime, she can even hold her paint brush without pain.

I tried that remedy a few years ago. I’m not saying it didn’t work but I have a lot of damage to my fingers, wrists and toes. This prevents me from accomplishing some goals like picking articles up or holding them. My pain is not nearly as bad as it used to be. I am on a biological inhibitor which has worked wonders for me. I have had RA for 36 years.

Wow, that is a long time to suffer with RA. My friend, who uses the vinegar was a cosmetologist + artist, but was forced to quit working because she could no longer hold scissors or paint brush … she can’t actually handle scissors, but can now hold her paint brushes.

I am always delighted to hear that a suffer has found a way to get past the pain and can get back to the things they like. My bio inhibitor although working very well, doesn’t stop the damage to my fingers. This bothers me because I almost have claws when trying to do things. Most frustrating.

I totally understand your frustration. My back seems to be better at forecasting the weather than a meteorologist. If I come across any other medications, etc. that appear to work, I’ll pass the information on to you.

Hi Kali. You might want to explain to your Mom that anthocyanin -– a flavonoid that gives cranberries their red color– is a plant pigment that also acts as a powerful antioxidant. Go for the red for the best benefits of the fruit. (I had to look up white cranberries to figure this out, he, he.) Oh, and Bill, you’re welcome.

Mom has no desire to have any more cranberries. After tasting them, the thrill was gone but thanks for the info Amy.

You are very good to help with the tree decorating. If your mum hangs them in the wrong position, just whap them off until she gets it right. I hope the river flooding doesn’t get any worse.

Unfortunately, this decoration is too high for us or a swift paw smack would be in order. It suppose to be +1 on Wednesday and hopefully that will be warm enough to get rid of the ice jam.

We bet your tree looks great now that you supervised the ornament hanging, Kali. We’ve never heard of white cranberries before. Do they taste the same as the red ones?

The white cranberries are immature cranberries so they are not a bit sweet. Mom only eats the red cranberries now,

Ladymum has to tie the tree down so it doesn’t get up and walk abit. MOL The tree on the floor would be better. I walked up our tree and it never tipped over. Mom can’t find those pictures. Now she has found a way to place the presents so I can’t get a good hold on the tree.
