Memories of a Northern Winter

C’mon Kali, let’s blow this joint.  Why?  It’s nice and cozy in here.  We need the fresh air blowing in our furs.  The wind is terrible.  I want to be warm.  Ok, so it’s cold.  How cold is it, Shoko?  It’s so cold the snowman has rosy cheeks!

Do you remember the time mom was out shovelling off the deck and then came in to have a hot bath?                                                                             aamomsnow

Boy, do I ever. MOL The hot water on her cold butt was not relaxing….she said it was so painful and she was fussing about. MOL. She learned to get herself a little wet with warm water before leaping into a hot tub.  Experience is a great teacher.

You’re too young to remember mom with the old Taurus but she had trouble plugging the car in so dad got her a light that would turn on when the car was plugged in.  You mean sorta like a plug-in for idiots?  MOL…exactly.

Ohhh, what about the time Cow Kitty’s dad left his truck on the street and the snow plough came along and blocked him in.  The snow was deep that year.  It was so funny watching him dig his car out,,,he used words we can’t say…..at least when mom’s looking. MOL

C’mon sis let’s get some air….ok, lead on Shoko.

aakalishoksnowsmI’m going into a nice warm heat register.  It’s too cold for me.  Leave me some room on that warm heat register….I’ll just *sniff*, *sniff* this patch of dirt.    Make room for moi….coming through.                                                             aaakalitoy                                                                    aashoksleepMuch better….I feel like a princess again instead of a pioneer braving the elements.  Not that again, Kali.  Go to sleep.

What’s worse than snowing cats and dogs?
A: Hailing taxi cabs!

SNOW! You girls are like I used to be – not afraid to walk around in the stuff but then again it’s mighty nice being inside and all snugged up with blankies and heat registers!

MOL…I like that…we need hot water bottles on our heads underneath the berets. The benefits are enormous. Thing how straight we’d walk with a hot water bottle on our heads. We’d be warm till the water cooled. Thanks, we get after mom.

I don’t understand “the old Taurus but she had trouble plugging the car in.” I had a couple of Tauruses some years ago, and they were definitely not electric cars, so I’m confused. Does plugging the car in mean something different in Canada?

Sorry, I forget peeps from the south aren’t used to these sayings. You’re right Tauruses are not electric cars. Up here cars have block heaters that need to be plugged in during the winter. The block heater keeps the engine warm when plugged in so the engine will start. Even peeps in Vancouver may not know about plugging the car in. It’s just the extreme temperatures. Hope I straightened that out for you Amy.

Shivers to mergatroid – now that’s some cold weather. Heck no – we like living in the south – the temps here are still mild with no snow in sight – snorts with piggy laughter. XOXO – Bacon

This lesson I have never forgotten and watch it before getting into a bath. Funny thing is I didn’t feel especially cold when I got in the bath but it felt like needles all over my butt. I still remember so well.

Hi Boomer, Dai$y, Tuna, Dude and Sauce too. Sounds like you’re going away for Crisp Mouse guys and guyette. We loved the story of folk sleddin’ down the big bump in the road. He deserved a flat roof after leaving it for that long. Peeps are odd…MOL

Have a super happy Crispmouse my friends.
