A lovely day today. The sun is playing across the sky but the wind is strong and quite fresh. A lovely day for a stroll.
November and we can actually walk on the sidewalks without slippin’ in the snow. Can life be any better than this? Look, our Alpine Willy Clematis is mixed up and there are a few blossoms.
A blossom in November. Never seen this before.
Mom and I are headed to the nearest pet store. It’s a very windy day and the wind is making my coat stand up. Refreshing!!
♫ Rolling around in my auto wheels. My pink Fur-ari.♫
Mom was getting tired pushing against the wind. We stopped at the new industrial development and mom relaxed.
From Gateway we went into the pet store. No pictures here. They gave me some kitties treats. I was famished and grabbed onto one. Immediately I spit it out. Ewwww…it was gross. Don’t ever buy these mom….awful. Mom asked what they were. The clerk said those were freeze dried chicken livers. We won’t be getting those anytime soon.
Mom got a few Christmas presents and we were out of there.
I settled down after those yucky treats and we headed home. As we got closer to the house, mom and I heard some hammering and sawing coming from the garage. Dad was hard at work building something.
What is it dad? It’s going to be a house for Cow Kitty so he can stay warm during the winter.
What if he doesn’t like it and won’t go near it….what will we do? Let’s try him with it first Shoko.
This is where the house will stay for the winter. Here comes Cow Kitty.
I think he likes it.
So far so good. I can’t think of something for the door….we need warmth in the house but not to frighten Cow Kitty or make him feel trapped. Should we have clear plastic, a towel or something else. Please we would like your ideas of how to improve the house.
Busy day today.
May your boyfriend never hiss and tell.

He is pretty thoughtful with Cow Kitty. If, we need anything, he helps us. My stroll was marvelous and there won’t be many more this year. I’m always so hungry when I get home. These strolls certainly stimulate the appetite.

That’s a way cool house for Cow Kitty! You know, the outdoor heated house we bought from Chewy a couple of years ago has a plastic “door” over the opening but not sure it really keeps it any warmer. We just turn the opening away from whatever direction the wind and snow is coming. PLUS it’s up on our covered front porch so it gets some protection there anyway. That is SO SWEET of you all to make sure the adorable Cow Guy has a spot he can get shelter if he needs it.
Hugs, Sammy

Hi Sammy, We will remember your door. It gets very cold up here in the winter and cruelly cold at night. The house is turned away from the wind and is on our covered deck. Hopefully this will keep him warm. I don’t know where to get hay around here but I’ll check. Thanks for the info.

I love your travels my sweet friends. I think it’s awesome that you can go out walking with mom and keep an eye on her so she doesn’t get into trouble – snorts with piggy laughter. Maybe a light baby blanket to hang in front of the hole. It should cut out some wind but be light enough not to scare Cow Kitty, maybe? XOXO – Bacon

Keeping mom outta trouble could be a steady job. MOL She sure gets about and talks….maybe if she didn’t talk so much….then she wouldn’t be mom. I like the idea of a light blanket on the door. Thank you my friend.

Straw? OK…I will send mom out for straw. We have a horse place here….bet they’d sell straw.

What about overlapping strips of blanket hanging downwards? Like those fly curtain things you get…would that work? xx

Isn’t Alpine Willy doing fantastic? He’s usually sound asleep and waiting for Spring to bloom. Cow Kitty does come over and sun himself on the roof of his house.

Cow Kitty told me he checked out the bed inside the house and it was just fine, but that day he just wanted to sit in the warm sunshine. Dad

Hi ladys, Kali, Shokolino and mom Jean, what a day! Clematis in blossom in November, never heard or seen before. You made a nice walk, except those treats. And what a surprise, such a house for Cow Kitty, and he likes it. The house is in a good place, maybe soft plastic stripes for the door, you just have to try, and lots of hay inside, so it is warm.
Kosmo,

Cow Kitty has been inside the house and laid down so we know he likes it. He seems like such a happy fellow. Keep the snow a little longer friends. It was 19C as we went for our walk.

Oh Kali you look so bootyful in your pink fur-ari stroller. What fun to walk to da pet store. We don’t have one of those anywhere near us, but even so, we don’t think mommy could take da trek. MOL We hate freeze dried livers of any kind too. They are indeed purretty yucky. We purrfur da breasts. We luv cow kittys’ new winter house. Not sure what you’re wantin’ to do, but it doesn’t really need a door. Just put some straw inside fur warmth and a blanky or two and ya’ should be all set fur a bit. Big hugs to you all.

Definitely freeze-dried livers are off the request list from Santa. I bet they had some of those livers cause nobody buys them so they didn’t feel like they were losing by giving me any. We feel the house does need a door as it gets down to -40C/F during late January and February. Bare skin freezes within minutes. During the day I would see him and let him in but at night he needs someplace out of this temperature. His parents may remember to bring him in but if they don’t, he will not be harmed or frozen.

There must be plenty of kitties that do like them or they wouldn’t make the stuff. Maybe Shoko would like them…I’ll try her…no she doesn’t like them either. Oh well…

I so wish we could send Cow Kitty to you. He needs a loving home. He should be ok with the house and if I think he is stuck out too often the neighbours will get yet ANOTHER visit from the cat lady.

That’s a great house for Cow Kitty. I’m sure he’ll be nice and cozy in it. I think as long as there is enough “stuffing” inside, he should be able to stay warm without a door on it.

What a wonderful house for Cow Kitty ! No doubt that he will love it ! Maybe a piece of polar fleece or a baby blanket could hang as a door. Purrs

That would be snug and warm but would he enter the house without being able to see in and out? We will see during the winter.

Hey favourite bass…tarts, what a cool idea. Cow Kitty is our neighbour and has a house to go to but they tend to leave him out. He needs someplace for the times he’s left out. Dad said he put 2 inches of styrofoam on all sides of the house. So the house is insulated but the door is wide open although facing the opposite way of the wind. The insulation is why the house looks pink. Thanks for your tips.

Is Cow Kitty a feral kitty? Doesn’t he have a home? I would put a blanket inside the little house, so Jean could wash it. Straw would be hard to change and could harbor fleas and such.

Cow Kitty has a home next door to us but they leave him out and he seems happy to stay out. They have 2 small children and I think he likes to get away every now and then. We have several blankets in the house. I never thought of bus in the straw….good point, thanks Elaine… How’s my twin, Ling Ling?

Cedar chips are often used as bedding, but the smell might not be pleasant to Cow Kitty. I used to have a neighbor who kept her siamese out on the sun porch during the day. When it was cold (cold like in TN, not in Canada) she turned on the sunlamp and I could see her cat laying on a mat underneath it. Don’t know if something like that would be possible for the coldest nights.

Cedar chips would be pleasant to me but we’re not talking about a Shoko but a Cow Kitty and his reactions are different than mine. A sun lamp sounds like a dream but I don’t know about the cold winter temperatures. We will see just how much he uses it and if anything else should be done. Thanks Amy. Great ideas. Mom says she wants a sun lamp in the house.
