Losing Teeth at Fort Meezer

Upon Shoko’s arrival home we had to Shoko proof the house.  This started with the Cat Condo and stretched to the Cat Overlook Box.                                                                aShokproofWith the cat poles on the floor Shoko couldn’t hurt herself.  Shoko had something to say about the condo on the floor.

I’ll take it from here mom.  Well, I’m not all better but on my way.  I have antibiotics every 12 hours and a pain-killer every 24 hr.  This keeps mom busy and out of trouble.  I give her a hard time so we have liquid all over.  The vet gave her a liquid as she can handle squeezing meds better than getting fingers that don’t bend into my mouth with pills.   I’ve started my previous ThunderPaw running so I’m feeling pretty good but after the pain-killer, I kinda get sleepy again.  I then plop down on the bed for a little shut-eye and emerge 4 hours later.

Kali is giving me lots of space.  She is being very nice and not hissing at me for stinking like the vet’s place.                                                          akalishokteeth doneThe technician gave mom  pictures of my mouth before the removal and afterwards….I had a tooth cleaning too.  Pretty snazzy looking snappers, if you ask me.                                                                                     ashokteethI lost these two teeth due to Resorption Disease in cats.  An excellent article is called Animal dentistry and Oral Surgery Specialists LLC

As the vet-tist was taking the two teeth out, one tooth broke.  There are holes in the teeth from the Tooth Resorption Disease.  My longest tooth here is 1/4 of an inch.  I have tiny teeth but then I am a tiny cat.  I wonder if I could get mew-lah for three teeth?  How smart is this Tooth Fairy?

Mom and I discussed putting this picture in the post.  Mom said it was gross but I explained it was me and this is me under anesthetic.                                                                ashokpicI won!  No wonder my mouth feels like it’s been pried open and left open for hours…it has been.

I want to go out and water my plants so mom phoned the Clinic to find out when I can tend the garden again.  The technician said a week from the day of the surgery.  Mom is in for a bumpy week.  I’ll try some dramatics on her. MOL

I’m stuck in the house
I’d rather be playing with a mouse
A garden to toil and tend
Neglected, and alone my friend
A tear shows my pity
Chase me Cow Kitty

Poor Shoko, a whole week with no outside. I am sorry you lost so m any teeth. That was smart of your Mom to tip the cat tree. I had to keep Sammy crated while he was on painkillers for his bladder surgery. The last time he had them he had them, he was climbing on everything and he doesn’t usually do that. Get well soon.XO

Shoko, you lived through it! Yay! See how great it is to be brave? I am sure you will get huge bags of fish and chicken and everything else you love to eat when your mouth is healed. I suggest being pitiful to score even more, instead of siamesish, 🙂

I hate this medicine…it tastes bitter and yucky. The pain killer tastes pretty good and the effects are way better than the nip. Alas, my pain killer is gone so it’s the antibiotic cwa. I will not give mom too bad a time my friends.

Andy the Persian kitty had an incisor on the mandible that rubbed against a canine above it because of a bit of tooth crowding in his tiny mouth. He had to have the incisor removed to save the canine from wear and loss – he needs that canine to make sure his brother Dougy behaves sometimes!

Anyway, Andy says he knows how that tooth business goes! He was lucky, though, and didn’t have pain or have to take medicine after the removal. Of course, he has to have chicken-flavored liquid medicine for another condition, and he thinks chicken-flavored medicine still is icky, but he likes the nose rubs and ear scratches and petting that his human gives him to make him feel less stressed out about the medicine…. Of course, the kitty treats he gives Andy after the medicine works wonders for Andy’s mood!

Tooth crowding…I never thought of kitties having a condition like that but I guess whatever peeps can get so can kitties. It would be rough though. Shoko is feeling better and wondering why she can’t go outside. Three more days of her dramatics and she can go out. I was thinking about taking her out in her harness and leash. This would be funny as she doesn’t like the leash. It would keep her quiet though.

Poor girl! OUCHIES on the surgery but isn’t it GRAND that your mouth is brand new (well…you know what I mean). With those bad teef out, you’re like a new woman! Hang in there – house confinement isn’t fun but it IS necessary while you heal up……I’m sure your Mom would appreciate your help in the garden BUTTTT it’s better to stay inside and be PITIFUL so you will get lots of snacks and treats (tee hee). Use this time to your advantage girl !

    Love and Hugs, Sammy

Sammy, I still don’t like stayin’ the house and Kali has started hissing at me and growlin’. I actually run away….she’s got that *I mean it* look in her eye. The treats and snacks are pitiful. They have to be semi soft and taste like cwap! They don’t HAVE to taste like cwap, they just do.

I should be feeling a little better by Saturday so I can go on the cruise.

Thanks fishy friends. That amount looks like a lot! If, the Tooth Fairy brought this much mew-lah, she’d probably have to rent an air bus to bring it over here. Then she could file for Fairy compensation after hurting her back bringing the mew-lah to me. I think treats would be good. The idea is super though.
