It’s time for planting our vegetable garden this week so if we have neglected to post very often, this is why. Victoria Day weekend is the traditional planting weekend of us northern gardeners. Is the 24th of May long weekend the time the south plants too? Shoko is out helping mom whether she wants any help or not. Mom has transplanted 4 sweet peppers into beds in the greenhouse. Dad is tearing up the sun deck to get rid of grass growing through the 2 by 4’s. He put more landscaping fabric under the deck. Everyone seems busy with their own chores. Even Shoko is examining flowers for any sign of bugs. Me? What am I doing today? Well, I don’t like insects anywhere near me so I’m inside getting ready to take my Sunday Selfie. The Cat on My Head is the bloghost for this lovely event every week. Just click on the bloghost name and you’ll see the most beautiful anipals in the world. I’m so proud of myself, I can press the remote selfie button and clean my face at the same time. Have a great day and avoid insects at all costs.
Well done Kali! Cleaning and snapping photos at the same time – I can SLEEP and snap at the same time so that makes both of us EXTRA talented right? Good for your Mom getting started with the garden. My Mom no longer does veggies in the yard – just in pots – she’s not got the energy to keep up I guess!
Hi Sammy, Sleeping and taking your selfie is a great achievement! We are so talented. Mom is having second thoughts about doing the veggie garden again, She has two more rows of seeds to plant tomorrow and then mom and dad are off to the Angry Birds movie. So she says she will drop me at the greenhouse with my nip before they leave.
We didn’t know this Kosmos and neither did mom. So Angry Birds started in Finland….cool! Dad has a hang up of Angry Birds. He plays it with Bacon’s dad.
Yuck is the proper word for bug eating! How could she eat them? They look like they taste bitter. Even Shoko doesn’t eat the bugs….unless she’s hard up for a treat. I have seen her spit a fly out. It was gross.
You have some absolutely garden skills, Shoko and you can multitask like no other, Kali and it is all shown by the harvest… of the Selfies 😀 Pawkisses for a wonderful Sunday 🙂 ❤
We cut our grass for the first time this year yesterday. It needed it last weekend, but it was snowing in the Gatineau Hills, and I am not Canadian enough to cut grass in the snow lol!
Have a great May 2-4!
Snow? Last weekend? Mom would love to go to the Gatineau Hills but not when its snowing. We beat ya…we’ve been mowing the grass for 3 weeks. What an honour, eh? MOL Have a super long weekend.
We can only plant in the greenhouse and seeds out in the garden. It’s still too cold for our transplants. Think last night was the full moon too and that’s always a cold night. In a couple more weeks the transplants can go outside. We love flowers like your mom and have lots of flowers but not all around the house. Love to see your mom’s flowers.
This sounds as perfect division of labour.
I’m quite impressed by your talents, Kali! I think you completely deserve that majestic king-sized bed you are lying on!
Yep, everyone had something to do….even me. I was quite proud of myself….doing two chores at the same time! You think I deserve this big bed? I’ll tell mom I would prefer it if Shoko and her slept elsewhere. I get the idea she’s not going to want to leave the bed. MOL
You never can tell about those cwappy mouses. I definitely smelled some vermin in their with the flowers. It’s been so long since I caught a mouse, I’m beginning to think I dreamt it. MOL
Shoko seems to be a working girl, she is really in to something. Kali seems to be more a little lady-type cat. Good, both are needed. We are soon planting flowers and potatoes. I think your climate is much like ours here in Finland. Have a nice Sunday evening!
You described us girl kitties perfectly. I want to do some fun things and Kali wants to sit and look pretty. You know, get a manicure and generally pose like the diva she is.
Both’ innies and outies’ if fun in the springy! I tried to add a pix to the blog hop, but don’t know if it went through. Amber, my gold shorthair, is the muse for ANGEL in my last cat mystery, Black Cat and the Accidental Angel. Shoko is a ‘pitty-sing’ .. hubba hubba!!!
I see your picture didn’t make it to the bloghop but its nice to know that Amber was your muse. I would like to see her. We are so enjoying the Lethal Lawyer. He’s a real rotter! The repartee between Noe Noe and Thumper is so funny and cute. I don’t think of myself as pitty-sing. I’m just me.
In the U.S. (Northern states, midwest states and some others) Memorial Day weekend (next week) is the traditional planting time. We may be a bit scarce too…Mom is quitting smoking mid week and she wants to start a container garden on the balcony (we don’t have a house with land). We have already cut back on how much we blog/visit……..Mom has to tend to BOTH of her “gardens”, the traditional kind and her “self help garden” Enjoy!
Here in the Southeast, it is getting too late to plant a lot of things, but still ok for others. Mom just container planted a tomato and eggplant and set them outside. She hopes to do more next year. And she did not heed your advice about the bugs. She disturbed an anthill in our front yard yesterday, and they swarmed and bit up her foot! I think she is going to need some kind of cone on her to stop scratching it! (Let’s see how SHE likes it!)
Mom has yet to try growing an eggplant from a transplant up here. The eggplant takes too long to mature and we’d have frost again before it was mature. Mom has a phobia about ants and would be having a bird if this happened to her. We have very few ants here and no red ants. Mom keeps a close watch on the ant situation. We have lots of spiders….mom likes spiders cause they kill ants. Yeah, let’s put the Cone of Shame on your mom and watch her try to eat and drink. We gotta get our laughs somehow. MOL
You look very purretty Kali. And so talented. Actually peeps usually plant in April out here. And then start again after da last fureeze in May. Don’t ask, they do it ever year, knowin’ they’ll have to start over. MOL
Isn’t that funny. They have to replant but do the same thing every year. I’ll bet at one time the planting season began in April but the weather has changed over the years. There’s the odd fool like that up here too.
As far back as a hummerd years ago it’s been fureezin’ in April and peeps have to start over, and yet they’ve done it every year. Some peeps never learn. MOL
We love to see how people’s planting goes! We put lobelia around our roses for the winter months and it started to flower (huh – it’s Autumn!) Have a good summer!
Wow!! You put the lobelia around the roses for the winter! You must be some place warm like Australia. We wouldn’t dare do that. The lobelia would be dead by the 2nd. week of September. You lucky ducky.

I don’t think she’s done anything wrong. They seemed to take a long time for mom too. Let your Ladymum know that cats have various reactions to the nip. Some, yes, it can make them hyper but most are just really mellow and happy. Mom did have a kitty that got depressed on the nip. All us furries are different.
