We just finished hearing a mystery book at our night-time readings. Mom doesn’t normally read mysteries to us at night because some furry face gets nightmares if they get scared before closing their eyes. This book was a little different. Oh, it had scary parts alright but mom didn’t stop reading until the scary part had been resolved. What was the name of that book, Kali? You mean Black Cat’s Legacy? Yeah, that’s it! It’s written by who, Kali? Elaine Faber. She’s good…she wrote 2 more books in the Black Cat series.
When we started the story, Kimberlee and her wee, four-year old daughter, Amanda are leaving California after Kimberlee’s divorce from Amanda’s father. They are ready for some fun, so are on their way to Safari Land in Oregon. They are forced to stop in Fern Lake. They decided to stay in a cabin by the lake. There are several cabins here at this resort and an old Victorian House. Amanda meets the wisest cat…Thumper….the black cat. This cat has a remarkable memory or should I say holds the memories of his ancestor that existed years before Thumper was a mew on his mom’s lips. Adventure ensues. There are several characters that are introduced during the stay in the cabin. A few of these characters we will never forget. We don’t want to give away the plot of the story but we were enthralled by the unfolding of the story as well as the story itself.
Mom said the story describes the characters to the extent one feels like the characters are known to them. The story is well written and easy to follow. The picture Elaine paints is a beautiful idyllic setting. However, looks are deceiving.
If you like mysteries or cats, you should read Black Cat’s Legacy. Us? well, we are now reading Elaine Faber’s next book in the series called, “Black Cat and the Lethal Lawyer.”
Oh boy! Sounds like our kind of read – you know we do love a good mystery around my house!!!!!
Love, Sammy

We think you and Sammy would enjoy the series. Kali loves to be read to as do I. I leap up on the bed when I hear mom chattering away to herself. Kali follows a little slower but she likes to hear mom’s voice.

Very nice review, but it did not post to the Amazon review site. thanks for sharing with your friends. Hope some of them will consider buying the book. Glad to hear that you are sharing Lethal Lawyer with Kali and Shoko. I’m sure they will enjoy the stinker lawyer and the enterprising Thumper. Meeting his sweetheart, Noe-Noe, is of course, the highlight of his life thus far.

We did a separate review for amazon and the review is there. The books are interesting. I’d venture to say…real page turners. All of us are into the second book and laughed so hard when Noe Noe and Thumper tried catching a bird for the first time. Well done.

Oh, Buddy! I’m glad you told me about getting in touch with you when I get scared. I get really scared at some of these stories and when mom turns off the light I start shaking and running in my sleep. Sometimes I yell for mom. I am terrified so mom tries to laugh and give me a happy time before I go to sleep.
Have you read all the Warrior books yet? We did and are waiting for the next one to come out in September.
Loves ya my Blue Man and thanks for making me feel better.

MOL…Maybe there’s some clue written on your face CK. Mom has read to us every night for years now. As soon as she heads for the bedroom and we hear her chattering away, we rush in and listen. We know when she finished chirping away she’ll give us treats….is this the reason we stay? Not hard to figure out. MOL

From reading your post, it appears you have great command of English. I write in a very simple, understandable way. I’m sure you would enjoy it, even in English. Give it a try. If you hate it, I’ll buy you coffee!! Just sayin….
