After reading a few of the Pet Challenges for 2016 hosted by Go Pet Friendly, we thought we’d join our friends and explain a little about where our heads are at and why we’re hanging around Blogville.
1. How long have you been blogging?
We started blogging October 26 of 2013. We sent out my first post and was so nervous and agitated afterward that we didn’t blog again until January 16 of 2014. The first post had 1 visitor…probably us. We were amazed because the next post had 7 visitors. The Canadian Cats involves the day to day trials, tribulations and fun times as seen through the eyes of two female Siamese cats.
2. What is the one thing that you accomplished during 2015, either on your blog or because of it, that made you most proud?
The one thing we are most proud of in 2015 is the peeps and pets we’ve met in blogville. These people are helpful, encouragingl and willing to assist with any difficulty we may have…..no matter how silly and small it may seem to us. Thanks to our friends we are now comfortable in Blogville and delighted to find out, through their posts, what’s happening in their world.
3. Which of your blog posts was your favorite this year and why? (Please include a link.)
Our favourite post has to be Shoko’s Gotcha Day. It was our favourite post because of all the work involved bringing her friends to the party. We also learned a lot about photo editing.
4. What is the one thing you’ve done in the past year that has brought more traffic to your blog?
These questions certainly are making us think. When peeps hear of a get together of animals or a funny interaction between the two cats, traffic picks up.. It is very difficult to say what would bring more traffic as there are several visitors that do not comment. We wish they would comment and join us for a chat.
5. Which of your blog posts got the most traffic this year? why do you think it was so popular?
The posts with the most traffic were the posts with animals from other blogs and the possibility of viewing the animals in silly situations. People like and need a laugh and this blog is designed to make one smile at the antics of these loveable Siamese.
6. What is one blog you read religiously – other than your own – and what makes it such a good read?
There are so many excellent blogs that we try and read daily. These blogs are dealing with animal rescue, tips for cats, food reviews. and some like ours….a view from the cat’s perspective. One site I have followed from the beginning is One Spoiled Cat by Pamela June Kimmel and her better 1/3rd. Sammy.
7. What resources do you rely on to enhance your technical, writing, photography, social media or other skills that improve your blog?
Our number one resource is the cats. They let us know what is happening in their world fairly quickly. The internet ……Mr. Google is a major asset. The final assistance that we call on a fair bit are the photo editing sites.
8. What is the best piece of advice you can give to other bloggers?
The best advice we could give someone about blogging is to relax and enjoy the experience. Do the blog because you love the topic. Some will like your blog and some won’t, as long as you enjoy it…..your love will shine through.
9. What is your vision for your blog in 2016? Do you have specific goals?
We would like to see more visitors to the blog. We are in Northern British Columbia and don’t plan on getting to any Blogpaws conferences anytime soon but do enjoy hearing about the conferences from our friends.. Being Canadian several of the avenues open to blogs in the States are not available to us but we’re here for a good time and to give others a glimpse into our world. If, you get a smile from reading our posts, we have done our job.
10. You have the attention of the Pet Blogging Community – is there one blogging challenge you would like help with or one aspect of your blog that you’d like input on?
We would like input on anything about our blog. Constructive criticism or praise would be welcome.
We always enjoy visiting you guys. 🙂

A steakhouse….that’s what you need to review…why Omaha….better meat in Omaha. Like in Canada the TV keeps advertising Alberta grain fed Angus beef…like we eat crap here in BC. hehe I will join these places I have been out a lot though. Shoko and Kali had a can of bff yesterday and enjoyed it. They are not usually keen on tuna so I didn’t think they’d eat it but they surprised me. Today was the wervua…..Shoko ate the gravy and left most of the shreds. Kali tucked right in and only left a little(she always leaves a wee bit). So when I was shopping I picked up a couple more tins of Wervu…please pardon the spelling….I really don’t wnt to get up and check the spelling.

I saw your comments. Blogpaws recently has had blogger campaign opportunities for those in Canada. You should check them out. We always get a laugh out of your blog. That is, we’re laughing WITH you and not AT you, except maybe those baby steps with the leash. MOL!

Thank you CK. We will check out Blogpaws and see what’s happening in Canada with them. Certainly glad you’re laughing with me and not at me…..at least most times. I’m getting better at the harness…not great but better. I had it on for 2 hours today and I walked around without being bribed. MOL

Can I say I have been reading your blog since you started. Alas, because of life circumstances, I’ve not had the opportunity to read or comment as much as I used to, but I LOVE stopping by. Shoko and Kali are some of Nellie’s Bestest Furrends!!!
And the Birthday Blog was one of our faves! (As was the Road Trip)

Good job on the challenge Shoko and Kali! You have certainly come a long way since you started off haven’t you……and what FUN all along the way too. We love your blog and can’t imagine anything you could do to improve it – why improve on perfection?!?!?!?! Thanks for mentioning my blog – blogging daily is a challenge and we hope we don’t bore people with the things I post about BUT I agree that blogging opens up the world to us – more friends, more fun, more opportunities – and it could be endless really wish social media being what it is. Mom and I have chosen NOT to do instagram and pinterest and all the other venues but if we did, I imagine we’d be even MORE BUSY than we already are! We like things JUST THE WAY THEY ARE NOW………………and we send you hugs and love and wishes for more success in the future my good and dear friends.
Hugs, Sammy (and Mom)

Oh my Sammy and Pam, you are too kind. Poor Kali is embarrassed and looks like she’s turning completely Flame now….another ginger kitty? MOL You have been a great, great help to mom in so many ways. She doesn’t know that much yet but is slowly learning. She’s not nearly as rattled as she was at first and that’s because, in large part, to you two. She knows if she asks you something silly…..you won’t laugh (maybe between the two of you) but will make her feel comfortable and help. This is a gift and hopefully with more experience she can pay it forward.
Biggest of hugs,
Shoko, Kali and mom Jean

I enjoy visiting you and read most posts, but have to admit do not comment as often as I would like. With over 250 blogs in my reader it would be impossible to visit everyone. Of course not everyone blogs every day but it would still be impossible to keep up. I agree with you that everybody helps each other as much as possible. When I started blogging 9 1/2 years ago I didn’t use a reader, I didn’t know they existed. I had a list of blogs that I visited in my sidebar. Back then they had to be entered in individually HTML code and no matter how I tried I couldn’t get it to look right on the blog. Someone, (Toni from the Big Piney Woods) took the trouble to enter every single blog for me. You remember things like that.

Flynn, I loved your comment. You made mom feel good. Mom also enters the extra blogs …the ones not in WordPress, in the favourites bar. She saw the reader but lost it again. Now we have a zillion e-mails and the side bar. Needless to say we don’t nearly get to everybody in a day. Actually, we have been known to curse anipals with more than one post per day. Having a blog back then would have been very difficult. Mom is seeing visions of the Commodore 64. She used this computer program when she went to college. She had to get used to all the codes and that was heavy especially with all the essays the professors.
Talk later our friend.
