Here it is November already. Piglove and Fozziemum started Shopping Around the World for us to compare prices in different countries. Mom sits and is shocked by the cheap price of milk products in other countries. Canada has a board that regulates the price of milk products so our prices are high my friends. Now the Americans are celebrating their Thanksgiving shortly so we were asked to do a sidedish or dessert….something that would go with a turkey. Well, we had our turkey in October but we could have this dish any day.
We did our shopping at The Great Canadian Superstore.
1 bulb of fresh garlic:……$0.50 using 1 clove $0.08
Philidelphia cream cheese: $2.98 using 1/4 of pkge. $0.74
3 old potatoes: $2.30
Sprig of parsley: $1.28 a bundle using 1 sprig..$0.10
dried rosemary: free….grown in the garden
Total cost for this dish is $3.22
Rosemary Garlic Mashed Taters
First you peel those 3 potatoes and then boil them in a pot on the stove….not too high a temp or the water will boil all over like mom’s did. Right, you wash the taters off first before boiling….seems like a waste of time to me cause any cwap is going to boil off anyway. While the taters are doing their thing, wash off the sprig of parsley and the rosemary. Grind the rosemary on a mortar with your wee pestle. Shred the garlic clove and set everything aside. Have a bit of refreshment…you’re probably thirsty by now. The taters are done. Drain them and put into a big good sized bowl now either use your potato masher on those suckers or haul out your old mix master and make those taters talk. Put in the Philly cheese and rosemary….keep mixing. When the taters are so soft they look like pillows, dump them in a bowl and stick a sprig of parsley in them. Salt, pepper and butter are optional although I think butter is a must. They look nice mom. Or:
I shall model the Rosemary Garlic Mashed Taters. They are best with butter.

Mom and dad really like these taters. Mom is getting big around the middle…shhh…she doesn’t like to be told. These taters do put the weight on but they both love them…the more philly cheese, the better. I do like my taters outfit and thank you guys for the mice words. MOL

Oh Shoko everyfin’s better wiff butter. MOL Don’t know what y’all be patin’ fur milk, but it’s $5.00 here plus tax. We fink it’s downright cwazy and rarely ever have any in da house. and as much as we like da butter, we don’t get a lot of it eever fur da very same reason. MOL Have a pawsum day.

I know…milk is a horrible price here too, Dezi. Milk is $5.35 here and then we have taxes. This is for a gallon. Mom drinks a gallon a week. Well, she does use milk in other things but she is a milk drinker fur sure. More like a heavy tea drinker with milk. We just love butter here too. Even Kali and I love the taste. Mmmm…good stuffs!

Dat butter is good stuffs Shoko. Mommy offen uses it to hide medicine in fur us. MOL Yous mommy sure dwinks a lot of milk. Mommy sez we just can’t afford it, specially since us kitties don’t need it. Fankfully at da moment mommy has coffee or else she’d be climbin’ da walls again. MOL Guess yous mommy will have a glass of milk and ours a cup of joe.

Butter is always good…yep, mom likes her milk but not separately…this is the milk she has in her tea. She drinks one powerful amount of tea.

Mom is going to make Tater Latkes…shredded potatos….she correctly guessed that they don’t need cooking before shredding. No, the philly cheese would be hard to blend with the raw tater…you could have the cheese on top of the tater after cooking…that would be cool but it wouldn’t look nice…hahaha Funny!

Mom makes garlic mashed potatoes but has never put in cream cheese. She says that sounds yummy. I’ll have some cream cheese before it goes into the potatoes please.
