A Late Summer Eve

Mom and I were hangin’ in the house when mom decided we should grab some fresh night air.  OK mom, I’m up for a frolic outside.

Mom and me packed up our selves and sat out on the deck.  It was a warm evening…well for us it was warm.  Mom was clad in her dressing gown…..the warm one.  Cuppatea in hand she sat on our swinging bench.  I sat beside her and mom was talkin’ away in that constant hum she reserves for chattering when meowing back is not required.   In other words she was in her own little world.                                                              Pretty soon along came Cow Kitty/Felix and he was throwing something up in the air and generally having a jolly good time.

Mom said he looked just the way I do when I have a mouse……..

Then mom frantically called dad.  He hurried to the back door and mom explained that Cow Kitty/Felix had what looks like a mouse.  Dad watched Cow Kitty and agreed.  Mom asked him to go take the mouse away from Cow Kitty as he could get sick or catch something.  To which dad replied,”Eww, what makes you think I want to take a dirty, bug infested mouse away from Cow Kitty anymore than you do?”  To which mom was speechless!  This doesn’t happen often so dad was enjoying his victory but I guess it was the look on mom’s face that made dad reconsider and go after Cow Kitty and the mouse.  Soon dad came back to the deck laughing and showed mom the mouse.                                                                Seems I took my mousie outside for some fresh air and forgot about it.

What a happy ending – somewhat – snorts. At least it wasn’t a ‘rea’ mouse. Shivers to think about that. But you know CowKitty has really made himself at home at your crib – snorts. XOXO – Bacon

Yep, they’re coming if you’ve seen a wizard…oops…lizard! You and hubby are so patient…mom would be tempted to use snake poison….especially after Doc’s wounds last year from those snakes.

I’m going to make you jealous. We have no snakes up here. The winters are just too cold. The odd person has told me that they’ve seen a snake but in 35 years I’ve never seen one so I have to figure there are no snakes or they are very few and far between. There are no fleas here either for the same reason. I didn’t believe the vet at first but I’ve had cats for those 35 years and never seen a flea either.

Although I’m sure they must be around, we have not seen any real mousies here — or ever for that matter! Sounds like cow kitty was having a great time with your old mousie.

That reminds me of a time two years ago.About 2 AM, I reard a rucous in the living room.I found thatall three cats had cornered a mouse. Then Sasha picked it up and started running towad the bedroom with me running afyer her shouting drop it! drop it! She depositsed it on the bed where she puts all her toys. Then the mouse revived, jumped up and ran back toward the livinrg room where I name led it with a mop. It took about an hour to disinfect, wash and dry the bedding.

It is his….we leave it outside for him now. Mom will keep putting toys outside. No, we won’t get a new mousie. Mom says we have plenty for now….maybe at Christmas. Kali got a whole bunch for her Gotcha Day in May and we still have one or two. I’ll urge mom to give them to Cow Kitty. MOL
