An Unexpected Guest

Wednesday Purrs

We have been busy planting veggie seeds  and generally doing all things to do with the garden, such as planting transplants with fertilizer and bone meal.  Bone meal gives these wee guys strong roots and it smells divine…at least to us kitties.

This stinks!! But I like it...purrrr

This stinks!! But I like it…purrrr

We were minding our own business last Thursday and a young cat came up and talked at, not just me but mom too.  Mom, of course told this young male how handsome he was. His smokey grey fur was not knotted, teeth clean, ears clean, he was very friendly and not afraid of humans.  He stayed and stayed.  When mom and I went inside the grey floofy cat came with us.  Of all the nerve, he jumped in my toy box and stuck his head into my toys.  Mom thought it was cute. I sure didn’t and neither did dad.  Dad took this young boy outside and put him on the deck.  I gotta admit the young guy was a looker. I wouldn’t tell him that and practiced my pathetic hiss.  Kali got into the act and really hissed at him.  Her hiss made him think twice.

We all went to bed and guess who was waiting for us in the morning….you got it….young grey cat was sitting on the rug outside.  Mom always has a big bowl of water on the deck for cats that come for nip and get thirsty.  This wee guy was hungry….you could tell by his cry.  Mom fed him and he gobbled it down.  Mom was starting to think he had been dumped in our Lane.  There was no collar or ID of any kind.  Mom decided to leave him for another day and see if anyone was calling for him.  Dad was talking with this wee guy too.  Mom heard him say, “I think I’ll call you George.”  This signalled to mom that they were starting to get attached.  Me?  No, I wasn’t getting attached.  I wanted this guy gone!  He was obnoxious in his playfulness.  Whenever I turned around, he was running at me….I know now he just wanted to play but at the time I thought he was coming after me.  The good news…my hisser is stronger from using it more.

The next day was Saturday and our wee friend was still here so mom fed him when she fed us.  He gobbled it down again…a hungry lad.  Mom decided it was time to call the SPCA and they answered mom’s questions.  They are a “no kill” society unless the animal is nasty to humans and cannot be trained to like humans.  It was Spring and their cages were full but they did have one cage free.  Mom and dad took the wee lad down to the SPCA in Kali’s cage.  The poor guy was scared.  Mom and dad sat with him for a wee while down at the SPCA.  The nice lady gave him the name Oak St.(our street) and a Pet ID#.  They told mom she could call at any time to find out how he was.  Mom and dad left feeling positive that Oak St. would find a forever home.

Yes, they did, while I was there. He will be kept for 4 days so that if someone is missing him, they can get him. The next step is to neuter him and make sure he has all his shots and is dewormed etc. Then he is put up for adoption. Mom phoned today to see how he was doing and they told her these things.

Oh I think the grey guy deserved a name like “George” vs. “Oak Street” but I suppose the peeps at the shelter know best. He’s a handsome lad…..I think he was hoping to move in with two beautiful girl cats and live in the lap of luxury like you do. Let’s hope someone snaps him up ASAP – he sounds like a “good guy” for sure!

    Hugs, Sammy

Awwww man! I can’t help but be disappointed that you didn’t let him stay. I mean, I wouldn’t have let him stay either but that’s a different story. Maybe you’ll change your mind today. 😉 Love and *ear licks*, Noodle

Hiya Noodle, wish that we could keep the little guy and all the strays that get dumped but we can’t. We hope with all our heart that he will find a forever home where they love him to pieces.

Shoko & Kali I was hoping you were going to keep him and make hime a honorary Siamese. I hope he finds a forever home. He certainly is handsome mancat and so furrendly. This is how my brofur Thomas became part of our household. He showed up one day and walked right in the house. Mom tried for over half an hour chasing him with a broom to get him to leave. LOL ….once out side he stated to sing really loud and she had to let him back in. He now sleeps on moms pillow every night.

He’s a looker alright! When dad started callin’ him George…mom knew something had to be done and fast. Mom just phoned to see how he was and the lady said he was friendly and happy. He will be moved up for adoption shortly as he has to be fixed. They keep them for 4 days to see if someone claims them.

      Hugs,

It’s such a shame that peeps don’t take responsibility for their animal. You can tell by his behaviour and appearance someone loved him very much. We just don’t know what happened….we don’t all deal with problems in the best possible way.

Best to stay inside, especially if your mom is gone a lot. Kali doesn’t go out of the yard and I seem to be hanging around the yard more than I did last year. There is a pile of things for us to do here.

I was rather upset he was here in the first place!! I’m not keen on other kits running into our house. I think he meant well, he was just very young and excitable like we used to be….actually we still are….MOL He is a very happy young lad and I sure hope he finds a forever home. Mom is going to call and see how he is doing tomorrow.
