This is the April edition of SATW started by Piglove and Fozziemum. We needed to look for two items and the makings for a favourite dish. We also were to talk about the cost of heating the house and the temperature.
I like a nice warm house….kitty cozy…as Shoko and Kali do. Hubby sweats if its the way we like it so we have compromised at 70F (21C) during the day and 65F (18C) at night, when we’re in bed. We are on the equal payment plan and the house is heated with natural gas. Natural gas costs us $82 a month. Two months ago the gas went from $69 to $82….a large jump. Hydro, though not normally used to heat the house, is $62 on equal payment.
Random Item: Alcan Aluminum Foil (alcan) is an excellent brand in British Columbia.
50 feet
$1.98 on sale.
Meat: Boneless Skinless Chicky Boobs….no, no Shoks….for other peeps its Chicken Breasts…but I like the sound of chicky boobs better mom. We’ll talk about it later, Shoks. OK
The Chicken Breasts are $4.48 a pound, on sale.
Now for the favourite dish. I was just going to give you the ingredients and prices but decided to give you the recipe….its THAT good. I found this recipe in a magazine of Canadian Living/ May 2015, in the doctors office and decided to try it. I had the receptionist copy it out. Instead of me ripping it out and denying everyone else the recipe as I’ve been known to do when I’m in a hurry.
Mediterranean Baked Peppers:
Halve and core 2 sweet peppers (red and orange or yellow…just for appearance); cut each half into thirds. In bowl, toss together peppers; 2tsp olive oil; 1 small clove garlic, thinly sliced; 1/2 tsp dried oregano; 1/4 tsp grated lemon zest. and pinch each of salt and pepper. Arrange in a 1 to 2 cup baking dish; sprinkle with 1/3 cup of crumbled or chopped feta cheese. Bake in 425 F oven until peppers are tender, about 20 minutes Sprinkle with 1 tblsp chopped fresh parsley and drizzle with 1 tsp lemon juice.
Makes 4 servings per serving….71 cal,3 grams protein, 5 grams fat and 5 grams carb.
This was delish and easy to make. Bell Peppers are a good source of Vit A and C.
PRICES:
Feta Cheese….$5.99 for 400 grams
Red and Orange Bell Peppers……$3.77 a pound
Sorry no picture of the finished recipe. When I realized I needed a picture….there were 2 pieces of peppers left. However, the dish is very attractive and appetizing.

wow! jumping gas? that sounds dangerous …. your baked pepper recipe is delicious… is it pawsible that I add one of that chicken boobs to my pepper? guess what? butt don’t laugh, ok? we never ever saw orange peppers in our stores… we have to send that Mr. Cow-lumbus over the pond again that he brings “exotic” things to the ole world…do you have his phone number?

Leapin’ Lizards….it’s jumpin’ gas again…hehehe Adding a chicky boob to the peppers sounds yummy. That could be your whole meal right there. You’d have to cook the chicky boobie separately or you’d burn everything else and could bounce the cube of feta cheese across the floor. No orange peppers in France? Disgusting! Mom grew her own orange peppers one year. It would take 10 mom orange peppers to make 1 normal orange pepper! Son of a gun…try another colour…you got yellow over there?

Snorts – You said chicky boobs – I absolutely ❤ that!! Your recipe sounds fantastic. I'm adding the ingredients to mom's shopping list. We have to try that. And your gas – WOW! That is cheap. We are totally electric here. Mom is hoping that with some of the things she added during the renovation that her electric bill comes down. I hope so because that means more food for me, right? Snorts. XOXO – Bacon

I know you’ll love the pepper dish June….just don’t overcook it. BC is a resource rich province as is Alberta and our gas and hydro are low but there still are people here that say they are too costly considering our resources.

Tha recipe of the baked peppers is delicious. We have a simular recipe, but we don’t put lemon in it…so now we will 😀 The prices are simular to ours, allthough the peppers are really expensive. We only pay about 1,30 a pound. Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend 🙂 ❤

Mom agrees Binky, the peppers are an outrageous price. Mom does grow her own but its too cold for a garden still. I wonder if mom could dry some peppers in the proper lengths and soak them before using and get a nice dish….sometimes there are too many peppers to eat at the end of the season. We’ll see.

Mom wanted to save a lot of recipes but alas got none. She’ll have to go through the trash like a garbage picker..MOL Mom plans to have the roasted peppers tonight again. She likes them so will keep serving them till dad is sick of them….just kidding. Now, FM there is a plant we got last year at the nursery….that you recognized right away. It didn’t have a flower but a plume….several of them. Reddish coloured plume. Mom has forgotten the name but would like to get it again. Can you remember the name? Do you need a picture to remind you? Please let us know.
