Peace Day

What a gorgeous day here friends.  The sun is finally showing its big round head in these parts.  The rain and darkness have been with us steadily since last Monday.  A beautiful Peace Day.

Peace Day always reminds me of my dad.  A career Canadian Army officer.  I know as a child, all dad had to do to discipline me was to drop his eyebrows in disappointment and I’d die a million deaths.  He was such a kind and loving man that to disappoint him was unheard of.  He had been in WW II and seen such atrocities perpetrated on fellow humans, that he never ever wanted to talk or think of war again. Dad was a very quiet man and this always made we wonder what he was thinking of as he sat in the garage and tugged on his ear.  He loved all animals.  This was obvious with his Siamese cat, Sam.  They adored each other.  Sam would greet dad after work…so delighted to see him.  Dad would sit in his big armchair, Sam would jump on the arm of the chair and purr away as he continually bit Dad’s nose….love bites.  When Sam finally jumped down….dad’s nose would be beet red!!  Just like he’d been on a toot all night.  When he passed….way too early…he was given a 21 gun salute.  I sure miss this powerful man in my life.

Sweet post……..I felt that way about my Dad too – a career Air Force man…..not at all the rough guy he often presented himself to be – he had a “marshmallow heart” and I knew just how to find it – I still hold it dear although he’s been gone for MANY years.

    Hugs, Pam

Hey, my friends. This has nothing to do with my post but mom has stuck a name tag on our ceramic pig that sits by the sink and holds the SOS pad. Bacon is his name. Cleaning up dirty dishes is his game. Just like you, Bacon.

We love mewing with you my friend so pull up a cushion and let's chatter like the squirrels.
