Autumn Has Come To The Lane

Time to go, Mom...hurry up

Time to go, Mom…hurry up

The air is crisp and cool. A typical fall day. Do you remember the Lane in the summer?

Summer in the Lane

Summer in the Lane

Fall in the Lane

Fall in the Lane

No, Fall is not a favourite season. There is mud up and down the Lane,,yucky. The grass is crispy under paw. Not soft and velvety like in summer.

Scary House

Scary House

The neighbour’s unkempt house and grounds look even worse with brittle grass around it.

Kali's friend, a stick.

Kali’s friend, a stick.

Everything is so quiet. Chucky is not hanging around the Lane like usual. Mortimer must have headed home to his comfy and warm bed. It’s not as much fun.

A decision is being made

A decision is being made

The Lane is not the same Kali, lets go home. I agree Shoko there is hardly any sign of life except for the three of us.

Home again and looking forward to Spring.

Finally, someone else that sees fall the way I do! I was beginning to think I was some kind of weirdo, not liking fall. I like the events in fall like Halloween and Thanksgiving but crispy leaves and dead looking trees are not my idea of beauty.

Good luck to mom at the doctors.

Things really DO look very different in the Fall don’t they…….it’s nice though that you have a lane to hike up and down on – you and Kali look like you’re inspecting the property very well!!!

    Hugs, Sammy
p.s. I’m thinking SPRING already too!

Yes, fall is rather cwappy in the Lane. Pretty soon the snow will come. The first snow always melts away quickly. It just fascinates us when the white stuff falls. Our first snow is usually around Halloween. That is when we take our last walk in the Lane for this year. There is usually too much snow to get to the gate in the back fence.

It is one scary house but there are lots of mice over there. A man lives in the house and works for Greyhound Bus Lines….that’s what another neighbour told mom. He doesn’t use his money for upkeep of the property, that’s for sure. I wonder if other anipals find it scary too….I should ask Mortimer if he is shocked by this scary house.

      Big hugs,

      Shoko

Your close to Calgary right? I’m not sure. We are in the northern interior of BC so its not like the lower mainland that is next to a rain forest…..sorry I am a bit of a drama queen. The Lane in summer is full of life and lots of mice scatter about around the scary house. Now it is so quiet, its upsetting.

No, I live in southern California where it is hot and dry for a good 8 months or so during the year. And we are several years into a drought. Sorry you are missing your mousies.

It must be hot there. It’s only hot here about 3 weeks a year. I mean sweating bullets its so hot. The birds will be leaving soon for the south but I saw a swallow yesterday so I guess they’re not cold enough yet. Chucky and his kill of crows will stay for the winter. I don’t see much of Chucky in the winter though. He doesn’t hang around for long.

      Have a great day.

What leaves there are on the trees are kinda pretty but Sammy from “One Spoiled Cat” told me they have maple trees that turn red in fall….that would be way cooler than yellow or orange.

It does look very sad at your place. It is still fairly green here. Guess you will have to start finding entertainment indoors 🙂

It’s remarkably still summer-like here…very very unusual…but the leaves are starting to turning. I have a staghorn sumac tree next to my window and soon it will look like fire..quite a colorful show. That’s so sweet the 3 of you taking walks together 🙂

Well of course it is Purrsea….you live in the banana belt of BC. Mom says it just gets cooler and damper down there in the fall and winter. Sometimes you get snow but its that wet cwap that’s hard to drive in. Mom must have forgotten that the leaves turn colour in the fall.
