Show and Tell: Childhood Favourite Treat

It was Bacon Of Piglove that set up this Show and Tell each month. This month we are to disclose to the world our favourite treat when we were growing up. When I grew up, I don’t remember the junk food like there is today. No potato chips, Doritos corn chips etc. I remember Jack in the Box Carmel corn…I didn’t care for it. One of my very favourite treats was cervelat salami. I’m afraid my mom started me on this almost addictive path. We lived in Germany for a couple of years while I was 5 to 7. Soest was the little town we lived in and delicatessens were everywhere with salamis hanging in the window. When mom and I walked into town, our first stop was a deli where mom would buy a hunk of Cervelat salami. As I was talking mom’s ear off….out would come the big hunk of Cervelat. I was always delighted with the salami and peace and quiet would fall upon the two of us as I munched my way along. Till this day I adore Cervelat Salami.

We had fruit….not the good stuff…like grapes, peaches or apricots. We had apples(gag me with a spoon), bananas and oranges…not the seed free kind either. Mom would make cookies too. Any other goodies were usually only for special occasions.

Thanks Bacon for the chance to reminisce.

On a serious note we want to ask everyone who knows & loves Speedy the Cheeky House Bunny to please say prayers & send healing white light & positive vibrations to him across the Great Pond. He is not 100% & we want him back binkying & flomping & enjoying Life to the max! Here is a badge for all to display & pass on

I’m so glad I’m not the only one with an “uncommon” treat :o) My dad likes salami too, but sadly in France we can only buy danish salami what looks pink, that’s a little odd and we better stay away from that “girlie-salami” lol

Dis your mom know that there is a Danish cervelat? It is quite good, mom says but her favourite is the Germany cervelat. Mom says she never thought about it but you are right….even the Danish cervelat is pink. Wonder why?

The next time mom gets some, I’m going to taste it….everyone says its good….so it must be. Mom seems to be the one to try different foods around here. Dad is a little more like me…little change is good.

You want to get a salami without gristle in it. Mom doesn’t handle gristle well…in fact she becomes somewhat of a drama queen if she bites into gristle. I can only roll my eyes while this rant is taking place.

Snorts – point taken. I know all about the mom’s rolling eyes – oh dear – can you say Drama Queens – snorts. I will add that on my list – you know no gristle not the rolling eyes bit – snort snorts. XOXO – Bacon

Isn’t that funny how it works. I’m not a big eater either but Kali would eat darn near anything and I know she’s not hungry….maybe its more of a case that she thinks everything is herd. That’s my loving sis.

You know…cervelat is mom’s favourite but she is tempted to try the polish sausage. Has your mom ever tried it? Gristle mom doesn’t handle well…so if there is gristle…yuck! I’ll make a point to stop by for a visit.
