Acquiring our Itty Bitty Lilac Tree

You see that itty bitty Lilac tree, well let me tell you how we ended up acquiring it.

LiLac Tree

Wee Lilac Tree

Mom has loved the mother Lilac Tree ever since we moved here. The blossoms are a deep purple….she has only seen one other like it in this city. She asked Dad if he would dig up a sapling and plant it at our place. Dad is not crazy over Lilac Trees so he hummed and hawed around. Finally saying that if mom asked permission from the owner and they agreed…..he would transplant it in our yard. I think he figured she wouldn’t have the nerve but.. Yipee! One hurdle down.

Mom and I hustled our butts over to the house where the beautiful Lilac lived the next day.

Oh my the grounds looked somewhat unkept but we were on a mission. We got to the house and were met by a bald man with tattoos all over his bare chest. He looked at mom and said, “Ya, whaddua want lady?” Mom put on her bestest innocent look and said, “I have been admiring your beautiful Lilac Tree for years now and wondered if you would be so kind as to let us have a sapling of it?” He seemed a little taken aback by the softness in her voice compared to his. “Well, if its just a sapling, sure lady.” Mom thanked him for being so generous and we left. He was scratching his head when we left. I think he had fleas but mom said no fleas, he was just not prepared for us. Mom said some hoomins are not used to others being polite to them and build a rough shell around themselves. I’ll bet that man remembers mom and me!

We came home and Mom told Dad it was a done deal and he could take the sapling. That’s how we ended up with the Itty Bitty Lilac Tree.

Gee thanks Purrsea. I hope when it blooms it will be the same colour as its big ole Lilac mom. Mom has heard sometimes the said makes a difference too….we’ll wait til it blooms before we go over and ask for dirt….besides it is partly growing in the Lane so we could take dirt from the Lane.

Lilac blooms smell awesome! Mom picks them for the house occasionally but they don’t seem to last long enough. What we need is a lilac bush growing in the foyer. Now, that would be very cool. You could do that too Sammy. hahaha

lilac is great, we love the smell and if it flowers, we know that the spring is really here. my mom bought two small trees one white and one lpurple… and my dad killed one with the lawn mower. he replaced the beheaded plant with another one and my mom has no clue why both trees have white flowers now. and dad and me we will keep that secret… ooopps :o)

hahaha…..sounds like our place. Dad has whipper snipped various flowers heads off. Then done some quick patching or a new plant has been started. You can always tell when he decides to go out right after doing the lawn…..somethings happened during mowing.

aaww – I love it! Isn’t it awesome how our mothers have special powers of sweetness that drips when they want something? I’ve noticed that with my mom too. It’s a powerful weapon for sure! XOXO – Bacon

hahaha….You hit the nail on the head, Bacon! My mom can be so nice but I’ve seen the other side too…..she can be one sorry pain. Luckily those times are few and far between. In other words I haven’t done anything to tick her off.

Seems like most women like Lilac trees. I wonder if most men dislike them or couldn’t care less about them? Mom wants to make a bush out of the Lilac tree…..here’s hoping she doesn’t kill it.

Can’t wait to see that lilac tree next summer! We have two old lilac bushes that put out beautiful flowers and Mom has planted three more since we moved into our house. Hopefully they will all bloom next year 🙂
