The Huntress Strikes Again

Well, today started out the same as any other day. I was stretched out on mom’s bed when she gave me a kiss and said, “Good morning sunshine.” Wha wha…I was tempted to roll over and cover my eyes up with my paw. It was so bright. Aww…the sun is back. In that case I gotta get up. I ran to the back door and crossed my legs. I gotta go….gotta go….let me out….let me out! The back door opened and I poured into the garden and chose which plant to water today. I decided to see what was happening in the Lane. My good friend Mortimer was just finishing a nip leaf…his way of starting the day.

Mortimer

Happy cat…who wouldn’t be after a touch of the nip.

We decided to check out the house that was falling apart for signs of mice. Sure enough there was a fat little sucker under the half fallen down porch. In two shakes of a mouse’s tail I had him. I waved my tail to say ,”bye” at Mortimer and pranced home with my catch dangling from my mouth. I played with the mouse on our deck until I got hungry and then hollered to get in….mom was waving at me….”Ya right, hi to you too mom…now let me in!”. She finally let me in saying, “Really Shoko did you have to bring it home.” “Yes mom I did and I thought you’d be a bit happier…you can play too.” I filled up on some kibble and went out to tackle this catch of mine. It was gone!! What happened? I guess the mouse didn’t want to play anymore…

Uhoh……..maybe Mortimer decided to steal your “catch of the day” and enjoy it for himself? Either that or your mousie was “playing dead” and snuck away when you weren’t looking!!!! HAHAHA

Hi Sammy, I think you’re right and the mouse was playing dead….then snuck away. I doubt Mortimer was in the yard. Whenever he comes to visit, he stops at the catnip for a spot of nip. Glad you stopped for a visit.

      Hugs, Shoko

Aren’t you quite the huntress? I bet it was lots of fun. Don’t understand why he wouldn’t stick around for more playtime. Sounded like an amazing time. Oh well with your skill you can get you another one no problem.

Thank you Dezi. Mortimer is quite the guy but really we are just good friends. He is very trustworthy and if he says he’s going to do something…he does. I like that in a mancat.

Shoko, you are a resourceful Cat Scout. All our mice we catch disappear as well. We think the humans have more to do with it than the mice. That smiling kitty photo made our mommy happy. We like it when that happens. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Cslista Jo
